I noticed that despite being home for the last 2 weeks she hasn't uploaded a new video as the last video she uploaded was when she was massively struggling/stressing out over her essays. Even though she is at home for Easter she still doesn't seem that happy to me and the fact that she went back to Oxford to spend one night there tells me that she doesn't know what to do with herself as she is very bored at home.

Exactly. She is realizing that she can't run away from this situation. She chose to go for her masters degree and to apply to Oxford for it, thinking she could breeze through it. It isn't working out like she expected, by any means. And with no future planned, she has nothing going for her. I still don't think she knows how to drive, which will be necessary for a job and independence, unless she plans to have her mommy drive her around for the rest of her life, which is likely. All her childishness is catching up fast and she is probably realizing what a waste of time most of her YouTube and other social media content has been. You can't go back in time, no matter how much you want to, ever. So she better start growing up, big time. Her behaviour is beyond ridiculous now.

It is actually sad to see that someone whose younger self had grand plans, seemed to have some form of identity along with her "borrowed" ones, now has so little sense of self and is so behind in development that she has succumbed to an ED and this kind of behavior. I cannot begin to tell you how sick I am of her selfies, forced or otherwise, as it is all body checking and ego-inflating. I started watching her because of the term "revision" which is so different from basic studying in the US, and have pretty much left off watching her. I have no interest in watching her anymore. I never expected to see someone attend Oxford be so incredibly boring.

I just rewatched one of the first videos I saw when I first discovered her, shortly before the pandemic hit. She was super into exercising and had a whole disclaimer about how ”I would normally eat more than this, but I was feeling ill ”. She’s been this way for a long time, she’s just gotten slightly more polished over the years, and no one’s commenting on the body checking any more, even though it’s obvious she uses an elongating filter in much of her footage to look thinner.

Thanks to all who replied to my Gilmore Girls question. The nostalgia explanation makes sense, though it's depressing to realise that the 2000s are now classed as retro haha.

I 100% believed that Palisades Lost was a joke title created by someone on this thread. Then I did a Tattle search to see where the 'joke' originated and all I can say is WTF it's the actual title. If I had to guess, I'd say Palisades is referring to the setting. For example,

RE: food combos -

When I worked with ED patients, it was an aim for some people to choose the 'correct' items to go into a meal and to avoid 'odd' items (like peas in porridge, ffs). Part of it was control, part of it was just not knowing anymore what food they wanted and being so hungry anything felt good. Part of it was trying to push the boundaries of treatment and part of it was to do with safe foods and combinations of them (peas = safe as they're a low calorie vegetable, porridge = safe as it's 'good carbs').

I haven't watched the video but if the only other bed was a sofa bed, maybe it was less comfy so they decided to share the nicer bed

I agree that she's not actively seeking the limelight, but feel that she grudgingly puts up with being plastered all over Ruby's social media in exchange for friendship/gifted outings

I honestly get the vibe that Blakeney is more of a mum figure to Ruby, but maybe that's just me being naive

Also, Ruby if you're reading this, PLEASE get a haircut lol

I really don’t understand why she hasn‘t stayed in Oxford (I mean I do, but …) Presumably she‘s now working on her thesis so she‘ll need access to texts, she‘ll have paid postgraduate rent that covers the holidays and given that she was so keen to work in the libraries there you‘d think she‘d be jumping at the chance. Heck, she could even commute there daily and pretend she‘s still staying there.

In her previous vlog (the carrots in porridge one) Ruby said she'd decided to stay home and rest instead of travelling during her break. She must have changed her mind. Maybe got bored or something?

Can you imagine her supervisor and the other marker reading the section about Marigolds they will probably be thinking why on earth has she included this when it has nothing to do with the research topic. In fact I wouldn't be at all surprised if her supervisor and the other marker get confused as to what her dissertation is about given the fact that she has written about so many subjects instead of focusing on just one topic in particular. This dissertation honestly just sounds like one big disaster as she hasn't got a clue as to what she was writing about hence the reason IMO as to why she found the writing process stressful because she was focusing on too many subjects some of which have nothing to do with Early Modern Literature.

Oh yeah I mean that's why I'm not reading into it. I only bring it up because they had two double size beds, and chose not to use one of them.

I think the pair are closer than we sometimes give credit for here (saying that Blakeney only shows interest in Ruby for gifted experiences), but imo it's in an odd platonic closeness way rather than perhaps anything sexual. If they do come out as a couple I would not be in the least surprised but I don't think they are.

Of course, I didn't waste my uni days running to get cafes and switching around libraries or trying to write a book and take selfies in a lift for social media. I was busy studying across the semester, not waiting to the last moment to clinch a subject and write a dissertation in the last few weeks.

I never understood the trend of 'studying' in coffeeshops, known as busy and noisy, where you can easily ruin your computer or books by spilling your drink. There's libraries, and free wifi on the campus if people want to study elswhere than their own room, which I can understand. And for the other customers who actually want to eat and drink in the coffeeshop when all the students are here, it's litteraly impossible. I remember the starbucks near my work place, it was just impossible. And most of the time they weren't eating, drinking or even studying, they were just here, chatting.

I can't wait to hear her litany of excuses of how education and degrees are not important to be a productive human being. Her future is so vague and pointless right now.

Just like the jeans, she used to wear jeans almost all the time, then suddenly Miss Patina offers her clothes and just at this moment "I never liked jeans." Yeah ok Ruby, were you forced by mother granger to wear it?
Or the coffee when she tried to look like a writer and just by magic suddenly loved drinking coffee, while she never did it before. Is there even something authentic about this girl?
And the worst is that the message itself ( not the one about the jeans) could be good, it's true that you don't need a degree to be a productive member of society. But claimed by a person who based her entire persona on studying and getting A+ grades? Lol. Just said that you're failing at something, it's ok, it happened to everyone.

Her dissertation has obviously gone terribly. Marigolds? It seems very wishy-washy, maybe it'll be better than it sounds but it really seems like she's floundered at Oxford. It was good to see Martha, she definitely brought some life to an otherwise mundane vlog but I wonder what Ruby will be doing now her time in Oxford is done. Again, I'm disappointed to see she keeps running off home because aesthetics aside, Oxford really seems a place she'd thrive in but maybe the pressure of being a little fish in a very big and academically advanced pond got to her and the blanket of being praised and the favourite at home was just too comfortable.

Apparently Dakota Warren is writing a book. So that's Jack Edwards, Dakota and Ruby all working on their debut novels at the same time. Place your bets, who'll be published first?

I had better get my preorders in for those! Rambling "poetry" that tries to be quirky but falls woefully short, regression into childhood with a sprinkle of bullying because "I'm not like other girls, I'm smart! Everyone hates me!", and whatever drivel Jack will be writing... surely worth the read. I can't wait!

In seriousness though, I still can't understand Ruby seeming to prioritise this "daybeu" novel over her dissertation. Is she really stumbling through it that badly? I guess so. Not the best look for Miss "acadaymia". I wonder when she'll post or when a sponsor will pay for a new video.

I'm guessing Ruby's really long unkempt hair is to make her head and body look small in comparison? It's revolting, never looks clean and needs a good cut.

I always thought to keep a more childlike appearance with the unkempt hair, like her hair is messy as if she has been playing all day etc., or is it a bit of another 'I'm not like other girls,' thing by not being interested in her appearance and instead focuses on her studies instead. I think that it might be Ruby's attempt to look unusual and it goes along with her quirky fashion sense.

Most likely, I think that Ruby thinks that if she wears her hair down, that is enough when it comes to styling it and looking presentable. She might be too lazy to get it cut and look after it. Long hair can be lovely but you need to look after it and get the ends trimmed. If she got the odd haircut, her hair would look less bristley and scruffy.

I love berets and wear them as my headcover of choice in winter (knitted hats simply don´t suit me), but it´s all about how you wear them! I honestly don´t know how she managed to make hers look like that

I could actually picture her working in a bookshop, archive or library but I think you might need extra qualifications to be an archivist. I could also picture her working in a museum maybe. Not saying she’d be good at any of these or that she’d last long but I think those are the kind of jobs she probably pictures herself going into so if she pursued any kind of actual job I reckon it would be that. But yeah definitely not a traditional 9-5 office job.

That would require her actually having any set of skills, dedication, or ability to work with the general public (I know you mentioned she wouldn't be good at these things and I agree, I just think it's crazy that she probably does see herself working in places like that). Ruby has never had a job in her life, let alone a job that requires her to help customers, work a till, stock a floor, work hard, or deal with the general public in any capacity. She would absolutely flounder, probably cry home to mummy, and then retreat to her bedroom and twirl in her fields. It's pathetic considering she's a 24 year old grown woman.
