She could, in theory, go on to work in the university. I know someone who did that after his degree, went on to work in the offices of a college. It would enable her to live her dark macadamia dreams for a while longer. It's not the best paid work, but you're in and around Oxford.

But has she been living her dark macademia dream? Because I haven't felt it. She never seemed to connect to Oxford like I expected her to. She limited her social time even more than Exeter, and while I am sure that part of that is due to academic workload, I also feel like she was disappointed in the total experience. She wants to play the fool and romanticize everything, she wanted to do selfies with Oxford settings behind her, but found out everyone was staring and wondering why she was being so childish, so she chose the lift selfies.

I expect she will end up back home, talk very little about Oxford and her future, write, twirl, and waste away in her filthy bedroom, travelling and putting out pathetic content with no purpose. So, pretty much the usual Rubbage content.

God, I was watching the rainy day blog, and after the first minute I was suprised to find myself enjoying her commentrary. She had a little sense of humor with the whole "Ruby, you love the rain so much that you even have pluviophile in your instagram bio, so why are you saying" -- cut to video ruby complaining it's not sunny. It wasn't lol funny, but it was a nice change. I couldn't believe what I was hearing.

And then she started talking about cats buying umbrellas and pond donuts. And that was the end of that.

She is 100% using chatgpt to write these scripts.

So what I was going to comment was that I fully doubt a red kite was trying to nick her sandwiches (what does a bird of prey want with white bread and fruit?) but that has sent me down a fascinating rabbit hole that they do, in fact, sometimes do that. Love red kites, me. Great birds. Almost as good as Marsh Harriers, but far easier to identify.

The bird watcher in me is laughing a bit at Ruby's crusade to attract bird life. Do you know how long it took me to get a little Robin Redbreast to sit with me and pull on my coat at lunch in the Inner Temple gardens? Months. Months of wearing the same coat and sitting on the same bench (they can't do faces, not what like pigeons and corvids can, but they can identify coats and such), dropping seeds from my lunch and trying to avoid wheat crumbs because they aren't good for them.

And that's with British robins being very acclimatised to humans. Sparrows? You're joking, right? They're not Starlings, luv.

My biggest piece of advice is Mealworms or Calciworms (if you get hedgehogs in your area, Mealworms are bad for them). Birds go nuts for them. Not VEEEGAN, but sure now neither are robins.

Anyway, I think she's probably just trying to inject some life back into her content, and probably try and find some joy in it again. If she ever had a motive besides external validation, she's definitely lost that thread, and now the external validation is drying up (due to her getting knocked for six academically) she has to find some way to make content creation less of a chore.

I wish someone in Ruby's life would advise against outfits like this. Those chunky black shoes don't match with anything else she's wearing. The skirt is so creased, and in combination with the cardigan just makes her look like an elderly woman. Ruby's hair looks totally dishevelled too. I definitely wouldn't be posting a selfie like this on social media.

But if she doesn't wear chunky black shoes, how else will she look like a child wearing their school shoes?

Made me sad how excited she was when she ate that "tuna" vegan salad and then craving pizza (cheese). She said before that cheese was her absolute favorite food before being vegan. She craves animal food, she should listen to her body and eat them...

I can't see her having a full-time job. Children possibly, but not a job. Even children would be a big maybe because she can't be a child herself if she has them.

Yeah, but to have kids she would have to have s*x first and I somehow don't see that happening anytime soon.

My clock app looks like this too (but worse, with many more alarms at random times with cryptic labels) because I set alarms for different purposes and then never delete them so they tend to accumulate BUT I have adhd and definitely don’t claim to be organised

I have an 7.30 alarm (I.e a reasonable time on weekdays to wake up as I don’t commute to work) which I made on a yoga holiday four years ago called ‘sunrise yoga, explore beach, try pool bar after”. The time still works so I just left it, the name is no longer relevant but it remains as I like to dream that’s still my life on Wednesday

edit: I am now 8 seconds in and can confirm that she is indeed prioritising her CREATIVE WROYTING over her diss. Will update as soon as I regain the fortitude to venture forth.

OMG I have just seen the wall what on earth has she done. To me it looks like she has been using ink, got it on her fingers, somehow didn't notice and ended up touching the wall and getting the wet ink all over it. That wall will also need repainting as I can't imagine the next person to have that room will be very happy to have an ink stained wall. If it isn't ink on her wall then how on earth has she managed to get it in the state that it is.

She appears to have lost her mind slightly.

Realistically, she had a sponsor video due and she’s not feeling like talking about her degree, which pretty much tells you all you need to know. She’s escaping.

I think what is the most jarring to me about those "poetic" voiceovers she does in every. single. video. is how she doesn't fully seem to commit to it. I'm not sure if it's her cadence or if it's something else, but her voice when she speaks in that softer, almost child-like way, doesn't really seem to work with what she's trying to portray. If she'd embody what saying, no twirling in the grass or cut-off words because she's speaking so softly it barely comes out as a whisper, but maybe some more cinematic shots of things with better videography and more pronounced tone, it might come across better. Something about the way she's approaching it seems rather juvenile at best.

Also, her Oxford videos seem to really follow the same formula; Waterstones, Radcliffe Camera, another bookstore, eating a tiny portion of something either very bland or very sweet, another library to show how much she studies and back isolating in her room. It's a shame to see she really hasn't seemed to grasp Oxford by its horns as it's been her dream for a good while. She could have so many opportunities to meet people or to make connections but she seems to just run back home at every opportunity that she gets.

And yes, I've definitely noticed her replies to criticism have that passive-aggressive energy that really doesn't seem to align with the "very sweet and articulate girl" she tries to portray herself as, especially when a lot of the mistakes are ones you wouldn't expect a student such as herself to be making.

Most of us who think she has a crush on B are not straight ourselves so there is nothing wrong with speculation.

Besides, we're long past the don't ask don't tell days.

That's not what I'm talking about, it feels weirdly invasive to speculate about how two people feel about each other and their sexuality based on social media posts.
If I was Ruby or Blakeney I wouldn't want people publicly speculating on my feelings for a close friends. It could also make things weird between them (not that Ruby needs any help being awkward lol)
I'm not policing anyone though, I don't care if others talk about it, just expressing my view.

The advertisement showing her listening to academic texts on double speed confirms to me that she probably does this with other books to bump up her reading! I understand doing 1.2x for a slower narrator style but 2x is unhinged.
