A week is now four days. She expected there to be ”hoards” of people 😂 The rest of it is just her usual sloppy footage - 20 shots of her sipping coffee on a train, going back and forth in front of the camera on her way someplace and back. And of course the wind is worse than ever and you can’t make out what she’s saying, which is a blessing really. She visits Sylvia Plath’s grave and somehow doesn’t get struck by lightning. Oh and she wears tights and little skirts everywhere, which I’m sure is very practical and not at all just another bodycheck for her.

I expected this vlog to be far more exciting. She just seems like she is going through a list of sights she feels she ought to see, checks it off, and then moves on to the next one. Rain, wind, her reading to us (God help us), and yet not very enthusiastic about the trip, at all. Did she join the tea to meet people? No. Did she walk with anyone in that group? No. No socializing. Did she buy anything super fun and amazing while she was there? I mean, if she has all the money in the world, go crazy girl. She said she went into all the shops. Bought nothing but some drinks, candy and a few paperbacks. The same crap she could buy at home. Nothing unique. She didn't even have much to say about the Brontes themselves, nor the museum. It was more about trying to create a Rubyesque version of Dark Academia. Walk around the moor in the rain, spin a few times, ramble through a churchyard, and that was it. Very boring.

I'm 5 minutes in and the concoction of wind, loud music, Rubert talking (partly over herself) and the harsh cuts to the noise of a river is a sensory nightmare.
Also "whilst I was up in the moors I also wrote a poem retrospectively" um, so when did she write it?

I know that the vlog is choppy and not of a great quality (considering she has been an influencer for so long), but honestly I'm glad that she got out of the house. Being cooped up in her childhood bedroom cannot be good for her mental health. Maybe outings like this will make her realise that with adulthood comes great freedom.

As I've watched the vlog I noticed that her voice is sometimes deeper? Like when she was at the hotel during the second day she did not keep her voice to the usual high chirp and honestly that sounded much better, more befitting her age.

‘How funny it is how quickly our perspective changes and how quickly we do put things into perspective, and it’s a phrase we toss around a lot, you know, seeing things in perspective…’

Literally the sort of tit you say at the afters when you’re 12 pints and half a gram deep thinking ur being profound

TFW Ruby is a mere few hours away from my home town... 💀 Also damn, hiking out on the moors in the freezing rain and heavy wind, without even putting a hat on, is very stupid. You can take a few pictures for the aesthetic but there's nothing logical about walking around in those conditions. That pub does look really cosy though, can't deny it.

She claims she got a table for one. But I refuse to believe mummy bones wasn’t there with her as well seeing as she seems to need her supervision at all times
Clearly by touristy she means "I need you to know I'm special and going somewhere everyone else likes is usually beneath me " - Bettys isn't 'touristy' in the sense of being overpriced tourist bait, it's a local business with a long history and is rightfully popular and busy.

I wouldn't usually say there's anything wrong with sitting and doing work/ reading but it's table service, more like a restaurant and cafe combined, they don't rush you at all but I always feel rude staying too long since there's people waiting.

If she wants to go on spooky wet walking trips she needs to get some decent trousers and waterproof clothes. It was painful watching her in a little skirt in that weather.

I was thinking this! And she looks FREEZING! her outfits are so impractical. Who would want to walk around the Yorkshire moors in the pissing rain in a skirt? I just never understand why the aesthetic is more important than practicality. There’s no way she was comfortable walking in that :ROFLMAO:

At least she has walking boots on so that's something. But yeah she needs some decent walking trousers and a proper coat! That yellow plastic crap is water resistant at best she must have been soaking and miserable 🫠

Yeah, Betty's is admittedly quite touristy (and a bit overrated imo - there are barely any vegan options and York is full of cute cafes) but in the sense that it's busy all the time. It represents something in York and people visit for the name more so than the food - it's an iconic place! Though there are always queues as a result, and if you're going to sit and read for ages there are far better places to do that. Go to a library, the York Minster (the chapter house is a really tranquil place with little nooks to sit and read), visit some second-hand bookstores, go to the park... I'd also feel quite awkward sitting in a place as popular as Betty's when so many others want to actually try the food haha.

I’m new here, YT recommended me her videos. There is something so creepy and unsettling about her. Thank you to whoever wrote the wiki, it’s been an enlightening introduction!

I expected this vlog to be far more exciting.
It feels like its not different than her vlogs at home, I forgot that she was somewhere else until she mentioned it. The outdoor walks, tea clips, claims of reading etc. Like mentioned, lack of enthusiasm does not help either...

Ruby and her laddered tights making an appearance again. Should we chip in to get her a new pair of tights?

She's not like other tourists, guys! She takes walks...in the rain!

And she hikes...in a skirt and tights!

In what way does this look like the Secret Garden? Has she even read the book?
