Not to play the devil's advocate, but we all know that Ruby has never had an original thought in her life and this also is a thing other youtubers and people generally do. This home café thing is done mainly by korean youtubers, I think. Along with fake chalkboard menus and funny setups. It's true that Ruby doesn't match the quality of these home café vlogs, but I find it actually pretty sweet. My mom also makes me make the coffee when I'm with my parents.
So yeah, it's half assed, but it is kind of a trend.
It’s definitely not a “trend” especially not in the way that Ruby does it. These people making high quality YouTube videos have a separate, adult life outside of their video and aren’t regressing into a 12 year old before our very eyes. And your mum making you a coffee is the most normal thing ever - I assume she doesn’t pretend to be a deranged child and make you “order” your drink as if you’re in a cafe, having never set foot into a real working environment lol.

ETA: 4/5 videos does not a trend make 😂

All this skiing talk of Ruby's "relatable" protagonist reminds me this absolute gem:

Lol, I've just seen the "which skiing goggles should I keep" TikTok, such a good question to ask to spark engagement, especially with the cost of living crisis. I can tell she's working in her old private school, it's probably a normal conversation there.

I like that after like 4 pages of nothing but Wattpad-level smut, there's just Polar: The Titanic Bear and The Famous Five: Five on a Treasure Island in there randomly.

And even more hilariously, the covers all line up. The Famous Five kids apparently just discovered something about themselves gazing upon these majestic buff men, while The Titanic Bear's eyeing up shirtless dude with a "Well, hello there..." look of curious interest.
The algorithm is confused, please try again.

You could also read them from left to right as a mini story: Polar, the Titanic Bear-Veteran, Built Five on a Treasure island. This still raises questions (why was there a bear on the Titanic? Built five what on a treasure island?), but it makes as much sense as Erimenthol.

I don't think she'd get a new desk if she knew she got accepted to Oxford? But idk bc rich people just like having things lmao. Also, about the teaching job, I think she really did make it seem like it was a serious job, but it was probably only an exam prep tutoring position. I think we also predicted that she rarely spoke about it on purpose just in case she wanted to leave.

Also, is she teaching at her old school? I looked her up in the current staff directory on their website and she's not on there. (edit: I found it)
This whole "job" was more like a joke. I remember that when I still believed I could make my career in art, I asked my old primary school director if I could show my paintings and illuminations at the school and they accepted but now I think about it, it's a small school, everyone knows each other in this damn village and I was one of the good students. So it was like a free activity for them to offer to the kids and parents who came. It was two weeks before the summer holidays, I basically explained them what we were doing in art school, made a small demonstration and it was done.

I think Ruby's job was just the same but for english. It's not something I put in my resume now but it was fun to do and the kids liked it.

Mum asks Ruby if she wants some Calpol - "I shake my head, "I read that you can become immune to painkillers if you take them too regularly. I'm not feeling dreadful and so would rather save them"
I mean you can’t become ‘immune’ to any analgesic drug, if she means you can develop tolerance to certain painkillers then yeah, but that’s definitely not true of paracetamol lmfao.

now that that’s been said, i’ve never seen her wear jeans. is there a pic or a video where she has?
If you want it on video just check her highschool ones, and some of her first year uni vlogs, she wears regularly jeans. She only started to pretend not wearing it when she went on her victorian child/ filthy cottage core character arc 'cause you know... Not ancient enough for the look. Not pretentious enough. Her favourite decorative books authors don't mention it.

For her age group, those who use planners have usually upgraded to something nicer and more personal, and certainly nothing of a studying theme. They have graduated, gone on to working full time, making careers, moving out, some even are married and raising their first kid. Not saying everyone. 22, almost 23, is still very young for marriage and kids, but many do marry right out of uni. At any rate, I started getting prettier planners at B&N and then moved on to an Erin Condren planner, so I could have a customized cover. I order stickers from around the world, including Happy Planner stickers, and I need blocks for morning, afternoon and evening to plan things out, but not specific hours. Life rarely works that way as an adult. You need to be flexible and not restrained by an hourly schedule to be filled in. You need to be able to really personalize it for your lifestyle, not her imaginary one. You want something with an attractive colour or design. After all, you are going to be looking at it on a daily basis, possibly having it sitting on your desk at work, etc.. I have never understood the attraction of her planners at all when every book or stationary store offers something nicer, not to mention all the choices on the internet. They look so plain and cheap to me.

Just wanted to thank you for pointing out this tiktok. It was an excellent takedown indeed. 🤣 I did see her comments about Miss Patina being unethical etc, with no response as yet from The Roobinator
Looks like the MISSPAAH TEENAH question comment has been deleted now.

The fact that she is going skiing during school term tells me that she might not be working at the school anymore because if she was working at the school she would have arranged this ski trip during half term. Plus I have noticed that she has been more active on Instagram lately and when she was working at the school she was less active on social media in general, so I think she has finished her teaching job as she hasn't made any references to it lately and in her videos she hasn't mentioned anything about doing some prep work for the students.
Exactly my point. Seems she may have only worked for 6 weeks. So what about 18 days work in totality? No wonder she needs a holiday. She must be exhausted. She'll probably spend more time on the slopes than she did working. Actually thinking about it I wonder was she even employed or was this some voluntary position? Either was this 'job' just done to support any Master application she may have made. * sorry about typos in my previous post. Note to self - wear glasses when you tap anything out

The video is just thinking of things to fill a day because she has no job or like research to do and for some reason she thinks serving drinks to her family or doing over the top wrapping for a present is more productive and meaningful than just watching tv for a few hohrs

She’s posted an Instagram video about feeling free whilst “solo studying”

Classic Roobz, an undeclared shot of her planner looking very cheap and a pretentious clip of her “learning” Latin. Which she’s apparently wanted to learn “for half of her life”. Pass the bucket.

Erimentha Parker Chapters 4 and 5:

- Just a random point, but this whole book highlights how privileged Ruby is and how she doesn't understand how people can essentially not have money. Erimentha is described as poor and needing a scholarship to afford the school. But there are just so many things in the book that contradict this. I'm only really writing this because Ruby had to mention that Erimentha's house has a mud room ...
I might be wrong, but I think that originally Erimentha was not on a scholarship and then Ruby re-edited the book and added that in, presumably to make Erimentha more relatable (or to emphasise the ‘child genius’ aspect, I was never sure which). However, as you say, she didn’t really change anything in the rest of the book so Erimentha, despite needing financial support, lives in a large house with mud-rooms and pantries galore and lives a generally very privileged life (I’m not suggesting that doesn’t happen but honestly, in the context of this book it’s odd). I can’t help but feel that if this were real life, Erimentha would be regarded by the school as a major PITA and the scholarship would be quietly withdrawn. I really doubt they’d be supporting her over the fee-paying pupils, but perhaps I am cynical. Also, when reading keep an eye out for the disappearing sibling (who I’m sure was originally a girl but who was changed to a boy …)

No way Ruby will learn to drive. Not as long as Mummy and Daddy keep giving her free taxi rides. She won't give up that sweet little deal.

Her "OBVIOUSLY" regarding magenta/green-gate is so patronising and arrogant. I feel like Roobee has a lot of anger and resentment in her. Just bubbling under the surface. I just get those vibes from her.

If she gets rejected from Oxford again her tea sets will get thrown against the walls for Mummy Bones to clear up.
I just can't imagine Roobs at the petrol station filling up a car 😂

Looks like it's still the case. Ruby would never survive.

But it would not shock me at all if Ruby and/or her parents just rented another home in Oxford that she has no intention of living in and did everything possible to get around this. She couldn't stay in Exeter for a full week, and that was a familiar place with her BASST FRAND, she'll break down immediately at Oxford.
In her first year Ruby lived in a self contained studio flat on campus and seemed to do just fine, probably because she didn’t have to deal with flatmates. Oxford accommodation is quite spacious and private compared to regular uni accommodation (a lot of rooms have armchairs and coffee tables, for example) so I think she’ll be able to retreat to her room and keep to herself just fine lol. And she’ll love the fancy dinners they have 2x a week in the college because it’ll make her feel like she’s in Hogwarts, so she’ll brave social interaction for that experience

"Don't be pushed around by the fears in your mind. Be led by the dreams in your heart." - Roy T. Bennett, The Light in the Heart.
I would be januinely irritated if I received a message like that while waiting for a dental appt. It's irrelevant and condescending.

Imagine if she starts leaving teeth in public places as an act of kindness. ''Be led by the dreams in your heart. I also left you this tooth and I hope it will be as useful as my planner; available from Potted Panic Product, Pumpkin Bread Activity, Plinky Plonky Planners Pumpkin Productivity.''

Credit to @Griftwood for digging this up in one of the old threads.

"HOW DAER YOU. You've gyot tyoo acksapt people as they are and yooo've gyot tyo be as koind as you possibly can. We can live harmoniously but ONLY if we eradicate bollying!"

Says the person who spent years demonising people who wear makeup, drink alcohol, go to parties or watch TV - the person who would go on to swindle various charities, run various scams and devote a huge part of her content to trying to pass her toxic productivity habits and eating disorder onto other people. The irony.

Write "STAND OP" and scribble a book on your wrist. Enjoy the hilarity of Ruby only showing concern for another person when she's also named Ruby. Take a shot any time she spontaneously changes outfits if you want to be in a coma this weekend.

Completely OT, but I've just listened to a Zoom lecture by Professor Margaret Bennett, organised by The Folklore Society, on Scottish nursery rhymes and street songs/games, which was absolutely brilliant. Now I've gone and added a ton of books to my wishlist :LOL: I wonder what Ruby would have made of this lecture? This should have been right up her alley. Or maybe not, given that this is about Scottish children in the 40s and 50s, not Victorian waifs in Dickens' London!🤣
Honestly, I bet Ruby would be flabbergasted to find out that Scottish children don't all live in a castle when they live in Scotland.
