I’m American too but there’s plenty of clubs, organizations, and sports that don’t need to be competitive if you don’t want them to be. Sometimes it’s just fun to participate in something just for fun without the pressure of competition. But I agree with everyone about it not being very relevant to put it on her CV. Reminds me of when i reluctantly removed Space Society Email Coordinator off of mine

the societies seem so random and not relevant to a job. I thought carefully which hobbies to put on my CV and decided to mention those that show 1. my interest in the job and 2. didn't sound boring or childish (like creating stitch markers with shrink foil, which I did the other day
it's a fun activity, but I only state in my CV the relevant things that show that I am a creative person.
Long time lurker here and I follow her on Goodreads, TBH I was pretty dumbfounded by seeing her "progress" with BK. She started reading it on the 16th of January and today she is 250 pages in. To make things clear, I'm all for slow reading and enjoying the experience, I imagine she'd have a lot of googling to do as a newbie to Russian lit. But for someone who, as OP says, loves (and knows) the classics and "reads" over a hundred books a year? Pardon me?

That piece of prose is fucking terrible. It makes no sense at all. What does she mean 'we play chess at an eight by eight board, but outside the sky is grey. Not black, or white, but in between'. Does she mean we play it ON a board? And what does that have to do with a sky? This is actual trash.
