‘Pumpkin Bread Activity’ - I nominate that for the next thread title
As someone who's unemployed atm (graduate life, the economy is dying etc)... the 'boredom' is actually the worst part."prioritising boredom" is peak unemployed behaviour
Oh god she’s going to try and pull a Jack Edwards on us with overpriced channel memberships, isn’t sheDid anyone see her Blue Monday shortthe book club marketing in the ponkin planner...
”The heights did not wuther as much as I had expected. 2 stars.”Ruby on Goodreads: “An Astronomical book, one of the greatest classics. I read it while pondering the inclement moors. Brontë’s writing is abstract in the most carnal way. The wuthering heights were my most very favourite part.”
I haven't seen the video in question (please post it if you've got it!), but it sounds to me like what she was saying was that she just carried that toy everywhere until it got all beat up. This is not odd behavior for a young child, especially with their favorite toys, and most small children are so klutzy and careless that even cuddling, kissing, and tucking their toys into bed can make them look pretty rough after a while. I still recall my first teddy bear who, honestly, looked like the victim of a serial killer (and was indeed missing an eye).Signs in her young childhood? Her admitting she took her favourite toy and constantly dragged it against the floor, rubbing the eyes until they were all scratched up. This is not normal behaviour as to how you treat a favourite stuffed animal. You cuddle them, kiss them, tuck them in bed, sit them up on chairs. You don't violently rub their eyes out!
"Yoo misunderstood me, I yohnly mannt that Alexander Pyope was quoyte a ryomantic parrson in janneral and was knyown for boiying flowers and chocolates for his syootors whan he wassn't wroyting pyoetry. Boht thankyou for your commant. x"I nearly choked on my tea when I heard that. How can a person with an English literature degree claim that ALEXANDER POPE, of all people, the man who was the complete opposite of everything the Romantics were doing, one of the great CLASSICIST poets is, in fact, a Romantic poet? Ouch. WTF? Imagine her trying to say that in a university interview...
The fact she published this online BEFORE meeting her, and it wasn’t even a particularly positive review! It would be cringe if the review was 5 stars because of the brown nosing, but I can’t imagine meeting someone I’d criticized publicly a few days beforeView attachment 1911312
The audacity to publicly review Linda Woodhead's (co-written) book on Goodreads ("there were some good passages though") and then showing up next to her at the forum![]()
As someone who's unemployed atm (graduate life, the economy is dying etc)... the 'boredom' is actually the worst part.
Not in the sense that you're a child who wants to go and play all the time, but in the crushing sense of failure, being alone with your thoughts too much, sensing your parents want you to leave ASAP and resent you but you can't, because you're priced out of even the dingiest rental house and nobody wants to hire you. It's being called 'lazy' and 'useless' as if it's your fault you're not getting hired instantly, despite the fact you're searching for jobs every day alongside cleaning, cooking and watching people your age seemingly live perfect lives because they can afford to travel the world on their parents' dime.
Ruby infuriates me sometimes because there's no reason she has to live this depressing life; she has more than enough money and support from her parents and could do whatever she wants, whenever she wants. If she wanted to go and live in London, she could probably afford it. She could get an unpaid internship in a fantastic career and still support her lifestyle. Instead, she stays at home and lives a childish version of the life a lot of people her age are living, albeit hers is entirely by choice. Seeing her romanticise boredom but not try to break out of the rut and use her resources to just, y'know, change her situation, is so damn frustrating. There's no need for her to try and make her existing life more interesting when she has so few barriers to creating actual change in her life. You know it's bad when people like Holly Gabrielle are having more exciting lives than her...
Totally off topic for Ruby, but I was recently rejected from 6 jobs I applied to and have been really struggling, so it makes me feel less alone to hear other people are going through the same thing. Sending you lots of love, stay strong and hopefully we’ll get through itI've been having so much anxiety over my future for the past few weeks (it's been so bad, I literally broke down crying from the stress while cooking dinner more than once). it's bad to say this but watching Ruby's weird antics makes me feel better about myself lol.
I haven’t read it, but I think it’s about a brilliant young boy who’s smarter than everybody yet gets relentlessly bullied by people who are just jealous of how smart he is. Kind of like Erimentha Parker, except he also has a penis, which gets frostbite. Did not contain as much extra as I thought it would, four stars. What Spare is about though?
