I mean… learning just ‘for the sake of learning’ is all well and good when mummy and daddy will allow you to indefinitely live rent free in their mansion 💀, some of us are quite literally just at university so that we can get a job and pay our bills. That’s how life works in the real world.
huge fan of the way she annotates by literally just repeating what the original sentence said

Absolutely no bleeping way. I want to gatekeep Wuthering Heights so bad right now. She doesn't understand literature, the agony of the kind of love that Cathy and Heathcliff shared. She has reduced the torture of their feelings to a wandering in an empty yard and an almost-fail candle lighting clip. Nooooooooo. So mad. Somebody stop her!

She doesn't possess the rawness needed to LARP as Cathy. She recites the lines so bleeping politely. Where is the darkness? The despair? The pain? The simultaneous love and hatred?

Her fans are getting more ridiculous by the minute. If Dante were alive today and had access to YouTube, he'd include listening to an audiobook narrated by Roobie in one of the circles in hell.

Spoilers: She didn't read it, so she likely has no idea that any of things are part of the book. She's picked isolated sections to read from a book she pretended to finish and doesn't know their context.

This is how she approaches every "dramatic reading" of every book she "JANUINELY VARRY MUCH HONESTLY RADD, OIY PROMISE YOO", regardless of their content, and she can never be bothered to figure out the context and tone of even sample passages.

She reads everything with the same OIY'M AMMA WATSON, OIY AM mangled accent, in the exact same tone, with the exact same pensive cadence and faux-wistful intonations. Always fake-smiling her way through it, chuckling slightly as she approaches the end of every sentence and shaking her head and waggling her eyebrows like she's remembering her time with Heathcliff and Cathy because oh, what a characters they are according to Sparknotes! You can actually hear her doing a fake smile/wistful chuckle at the end of every sentence.

But if she thinks it's A VARRY SERIOUS part, there will be no smiling, only deathly HOW DAHHR YOO glares. But her overall tone stays the same.

And, of course, it's all just a MISPA TEENA ad.

lmao over her reel about Wuthering Heights. She looks like a French hippie with that outfit. Nothing remotely like the clothing that would have been worn in Wuthering Heights. And sorry, but you haven't even got the heights part, let alone being locked up in your trashy looking backyard, where your family doesn't even bother to do any proper gardening or landscaping. The place is an absolute pit, yet she keeps filming as though it were something glorious. idk I just don't get her or any fans, at all. Not surprised she can't light the candle. In the middle of day. Outside. No dark lanterns for her. She is still the pyro she has always been. Her recitation is ridiculous, as usual. She doesn't get the obsessive twisted passion that runs throughout the novel, the brutality, the incest, the revenge. I am pretty confident she doesn't understand about 90% of adult novels. She has no experience or friends to even discuss such matters and it is moments like this that remind me of why Oxford rejected her the first time around and hopefully will reject her, yet again. I hope she has a backup plan beside spending another year writing her book. What a hopeless cause she is.

It's only a matter of time before she ruins every book you've ever loved. Nothing is safe. One cannot sleep soundly at night knowing Ruby is out there, reading the Wikipedia summary of Moby fool, or Googling "Anna Karenina spark notes", or God forbid reading a children's picture book adaption of Hamlet. She could be pretending to read Pride and Prejudice as we speak. She might LARP as Miss Havisham tomorrow and Dorian Gray the next day. Don't let your guard down. Not even the Bible is safe from this ruthless monster.

Right this moment she may be writing a 1 star Goodreads review for Les Misérables because there weren't as many miserable lesbians as the title suggests, and because the naughty thief man should be an antagonist rather than a protagonist- but overall it was a wonderful novel about World War II. Her Cosette cosplay with of course include a beret.

The waggling eyebrows and gurning facial expressions...ugh and the chuckling. Lol I bet she does actually just Sparknotes all the classics. There is no way in hell she actually read Wuthering Heights.

Yeah she is pretty much one-note in her recitations. Except for that Night Before Christmas recitation where she got way too excited and ducked up the 'snyowbylow' line 🤣

Oh god no. Please not Anna Karenina. Not Great Expectations either. Lol @ your Les Mis review à la Roob

So she/the team haven't learned / changed from the last experience where there were massive delays? Then they are rum. I feel sorry for the customers who on the whole are likely to be teens who have spent their pocket money on this shocking excuse for a planner 😬

Oh no, my greatest fears have come true! She's reading The Brothers Karamazov on her latest Instagram story...

I don't know if I should be excited about the upcoming hilarious Goodreads review or dread the inevitable massacre one of my favourite books will suffer...

😂 😭 You just know she's either sleepwalking around her garden in that white Victorian asylum nightdress, or she's awake and reading your favourite book - scratching away with her pen, scribbling on the pages with watercolour paints, annotating in the margins, her 'literary' thoughts taking shape in her mind like an ominous funnel cloud forming into a tornado. Nightmare stuff!

”The heights did not wuther as much as I had expected. 2 stars.”
Wutherless Heights

Ruby is trying to light a candle outside in the wind 🫣🤣
Elton interlude! 😂

🎵 And it seems to me you lived your life
like a candle in the wind 🎵

I just unfollowed her on Goodreads. She’s read 7 books in 2 weeks and I’m fed up with her cluttering up my homepage with her kiddie books. I want to follow people who’ll give proper recommendations of things I might enjoy.
She heard what I said and she’s now “reading” The Brothers Karamazov 😂 it’s either a middle grade or an advanced classic, there is no in between …

lol she was first spotted pretending to read it about a year ago, she'll abandon it quickly enough once she realises there's very little scope for cosplay/a sneaky Mispah Teena ad opportunity.

No! It's one of my favourites too. But I'm interested to see how she pronounces/spells the characters' names.

''The Brothers in the novel were Karamazovs, which is a type of brother. Eye-van and his brother AllYoStar were trying to help Dee-Meet-Tree who was addicted to ethanol. They lived with their father Pavlova...''

In my experience when you're 18 and choosing what to do with your life, way too many people tell you to "follow your dreams! If you have a passion go for it! Don't choose something you don't like just because you think it'll be easier to find a job!"
And the result is that now that my uni education path is almost over and I'm starting to look at career opportunities, not a day goes by that I don't tell myself whyyy didn't you choose a more expendable degree. Why did you listen to those people. And my degree isn't even actually "that bad" when it comes to jobseeking, but it's not a law or engineering degree either. And now that I'm older and I look back I see that I could have succeeded in one of those more "career-oriented" degrees too, even if they weren't exactly my absolute favourite thing, and I ask myself what the hell I was thinking.
So imo it's the opposite, I think that way too many young people go to uni with this mindset (that you shouldn't choose based on job opportunities but rather your interests) and end up disappointed years later when they are looking for a job.

(I hope no one interprets this comment as dismissive of humanities degrees or like I'm saying that they're not worth it. I'm saying that rather than young people choosing based on career options, I see a lot of young people choosing based on passions and interests and then being let down by society when it seems like there's no place for them in the workforce)
I studied something I loathed and it was a pain to look for a job at the same time, so when I look back I say I could have at least studied something I actually cared about and wanted to make the effort for.

That being said, when I look at the salaries my engineer/programmer/actuary friends are earning, it blows my mind that people my age are living on thrice my salary. I'm happy to be self sufficient (single and childfree, no pets etc so the necessities are at a minimum) but it would be such a relief not to have constant anxiety about the future.

This actually reminds me of PaigeY and her decision to go into an actuarial career imstead of astrophysics. In a Q&A she candidly replied that she chose the career because she doesn't want to struggle financially. A lot of people were surprised but I think she was being smart.

Not everyone is cut out for being content following their passion while barely scraping by, it really crushes the spirit. It's important to find something that doesn't suck the life out of your soul, but also work is just work and not everyone is 'meant to' be in a certain career and uni degree dreams don't necessarily last forever.

I have no clue what Ruby is doing with her life but she's being neither passionate nor smart, so I guess she'll carry on cosplaying until she's old and grey.

sorry if I missed it, but anyone know where she's applying for Master's?
She has applied to do her Master's at Oxford and from what I have seen this is the only University that she has applied to.
