The vibe I'm getting is that her classmates probably thought she was a bit odd but there wasn't any extreme bullying. Later she exaggerated it to seem more relatable to her young viewers and also to get a bit of that "poor you, that must have been horrible, you're so strong" validation. But of course she was "in denial" so if anyone who knows her from school says "you never mentioned bullying" she can say that she didn't realise it was bullying at the time.
Yeah, all signs point to Ruby just being very unpopular, likely due to the Erimentha-yness of her being an unrelenting teacher's pet and the very demeaning, passive-aggressive way she looked down on any teenager who engaged in normal teenage activities, like watching TV, wearing makeup, etc. Other students likely just ignored her entirely, or made the occasional snarky and mean comment. But embellishing wildly got her a lot of sympathy and admiration from fans, and it all happened coincidentally just as she published her own book about bullying.
None of her stories add up at all and her discussions about her own bullying have always been incredibly vague and wildly inconsistent. She went from "I was never bullied personally, but the topic is VARRY interasting tyoo mee!" to "I WAS bullied, I just forgot about it" right around the time she started reading lots of middle-grade bullying fiction while preparing (i.e. stealing all the ideas she could) to write her own book. Even the "character arc" that she claims she went through and the advice she has is ripped straight from simplistic middle-grade mean girl books: Bullying is horrible, and only the most brightest and most gifted students get bullied, but it's only because they're VARRY JALLOSS, and these simple-minded bullies likely have things going on in their own life, so you're not so different after all and it's okay to forgive them at the end.
She's never been able to think of even hypothetical believable examples of bullying, and her definition of bullying seems to include everything from valid criticism to friends being slightly unreliable and flaky. Oh, and apparently friends asking you to do their homework in exchange for money and/or favours is extreme bullying, so Blakeney's gonna need some therapy for all the bullying she endured at the hands of Ruby.
Still no Italy vlog. I thought the academic year ended already? Day late and a dollar short as usual, Roobee.

University might be over, but children's schools are still in session, which is where Ruby likes to believe she is.
