I mean, a lot of uni logins won't last "for the rest of your life" unless specific unis have an alumni extension scheme. A lot of external memberships of uni libraries don't include online access to things like JSTOR either so great tip, Ruby!
Yep you're right, these expire. She'll lose access to the library's online services such as JSTOR after her graduation, even if she were to get an alumni card, if these exist at Exeter. Such alumni cards usually mean you can access the physical library after graduation, and you can read articles on the library computers, but not at home.
She's better off getting a British Library card. She can read the articles there and they'll have more books than Exeter does. It's also much closer to home so it makes more sense than having an alumni card from Exeter.

Exeter offer alumni free access to JSTOR and other online archives, as well as physical book borrowing. Not sure why she's acting like what she's doing is special.

Ruby: (Tries to show that she's being VARRY PRODOCKTIVE even though no LACKCHURRERS will grade her for it.)
Also Ruby: "IN ALL SERIOUSNESS, you should use all your uni logins to be constantly learning things for the rest of your life. (POINTS FINGER AT YOU STERNLY)"

The duck do you mean "in all seriousness", Rubert? Are you saying you weren't looking at articles on JSTOR? Because you have to first be joking to then say "in all seriousness".

Every day is a new journey of discovery as we see what new parts of the English language Ruby doesn't understand.
Right, this really annoys me as someone who tried to pursue my academic interests after uni but before enrolling on another course as it was when I was trying to solidify a PHD thesis idea before putting all the work into an application. Part of that application I knew would be demonstrated knowledge of the field and you never want to be told “sorry someone already did literally exactly this”

yes I did have my uni library log ins for I believe roughly six months to one year afterwards, then you’re faced with the true cost of independent research - sometimes it can be £30/£40 at minimum just to access one article, subscriptions to journals can be better but also expensive and I was lucky enough to do online conferences during the pandemic so the travel cost wasn’t a factor as much but the conference fees were very real and very hard - not saying I regret any of this, but it was my reality that I chose to abandon my PhD that I would have loved to do because the cost of doing it for three years was too much but also the money and time cost of applying and participating in academia was getting far too much as well. I follow several Twitter accounts from independent researchers who have made it work but will outline the harsh truths as well - so forgive me if this 100th example of Ruby being completely blind to something she should, ironically, research into before she starts preaching to everyone pisses me off slightly

I know she can't help being privileged but I honestly find it so annoying that Ruby can take a year to sit at home and do nothing but try and write a book lol. Most people who want to write a book have to try and fit it around their job and other responsibilities until they maybe get to a point where they can afford to write full time. Plus if Erimentha was self published how does she even know if her work is any good lol. I don't understand why she wouldn't at least get a part time job, which would still leave a lot of time for writing

Ruby's going all in on TikTok, and I don't know if she's just losing what's left of her mind or she's just acting especially manic trying to appeal to an audience she doesn't understand on a platform that she's not suited to, but she comes off as completely unhinged and stupidly out of touch in her videos there.

"Oiy wanted to wake up really ARRLY, because I have LYOTS of ADDITING TO DYOO. Oiy have THREE videos to ADDIT. Boht oiy couldn't get up at FOIVE AY AMM because I was up until TYOO. Which was silly because OIY was up ADDITING."

Ruby's logic:

"I have an endless schedule of free time, no job, no responsibility. I stayed up slightly late doing the thing I wanted to wake up early for. I then forced myself to only have 5 and a half hours sleep on one occasion. I am now sleep deprived. RIP me. Stay sleeping out there everyone, you can't all work as hard as me."

Ruby, you have nothing but free time. You set your own video schedule and it's never been reliable, so there's no point pretending you'll start now. You staying up until 2am and then deciding to wake up at 7:30 isn't a hardship thrust upon you, it's just stupidity on your part when there's nothing to be awake early for.

You also clearly put zero effort into editing and just slap random footage together in Adobe Premiere and call it a day, so that shouldn't be especially time consuming.

All those other people are sleep deprived because they have to work long hours, sometimes in multiple jobs, while taking care of children and/or family members while worrying about things like paying bills and affording food alongside all the other nightmarish tit going on in the world around them. They don't have the luxury of excessive wealth, zero responsibility and nothing but free time. You are not like them.

If you want to set an example and advocate for healthy sleeping practices, self care and good mental health, then don't tell other people to sleep more while humble-bragging that you were up late WAHHRKING VARRY HARD AND THAN WYOKE UP AVVER SYO ARRLY. Lead by example. Have a lie in. Show that you slept in until 10am. Most people don't have the option of a lie in every day, but don't tell the impressionable students who view you as an aspirational figure that you never sleep and never eat because they'll just think that's what they need to do to be VARRY PRODOCKTIVE.

Get the duck outta here with this toxic nonsense.

Lmao Ruby you're the one who chose to wake up at 7:30 and only get 5 hours of sleep.
You're an adult, you don't need mommy to tell you to go to bed. If you want 8 hours of sleep and you went to bed at 2 just wake up at 10. What's stopping you other than the imaginary productivity standards you hold yourself to?
Or if you don't wanna wake up at 10 as it's too late just go to bed at midnight and wake up at 8. That seems reasonable to me.
Or if you absolutely want to wake up before dawn just don't do any work in the evenings and go to bed at 9.

She literally has no set schedule or responsibilities to attend to. She can wake up and go to bed whenever she wants. You literally cannot be sleep deprived in these circumstances unless you are choosing to sleep too little, or you have medical conditions that prevent you from sleeping well.

You can already see how her life is starting to unravel without the external structure, praise and validation she used to receive at school/uni. She's already flailing about trying and failing to organize herself and preaching and bragging to her viewers in an attempt to cope, and it's only July! She hasn't even officially graduated yet! She has a full year of sitting at home without any structure ahead of her!

I'd feel bad for her, but she really did this to herself lmao

Tattle predicted this as soon as she first announced that she was taking a gap year. You could see it coming from a mile away.

Taking a gap year with no plans and only a vague idea of what to do would be bad for anyone imo. Let alone someone like Ruby who thrives on external praise, structure and strict schedules.

It's kind of sad to see. If she wasn't so coddled and protected by her parents, she could have been such a talent. But she'll sit at home, pretending to write these books and never really getting anywhere beyond what mummy and daddy's money could buy for her

I took an involuntary gap year after uni lol (thought i was going to get into working but my grad job fell through) and am due to start my masters in september. i have HATED IT. Every minute of it. She's an idiot, she should have just gone straight into more academia since that's literally all she enjoys and she has no financial barriers pushing her back etc

She’s also still following 8 Passengers, which is now Moms of Truth, because Ruby Franke has gone fully around the bend and is now involved in a full-blown cult.
Wait is Ruby part of a cult now???
Can you explain pleaaaaseeee??? 😮

You know i always thought she's so naive and ignorant on the real world, that she'd be the perfect candidate for a cult.

Oh thx. You reduced me to tears. 💔 lmao.
But then Ruby is friends with these people or what? That's still dangerous.
Cult ppl are after the $$$$. She should be careful

in my first (or second) master semester (2020 and 2021 blur into one year in my mind) we had to create a how-to-video about something linguistic-related. It was fun. other assignments were a bit more challenging, especially statistic using R (that's a programming language like Python).
It may not be that unlikely to create something like this escape room thingy. I prefer these creative things. But learning about statistics and R was also great (I even passed the exam in my first attempt ).

I'm actually surprised Ruby feels comfortable walking alone in the countryside. I don't mean to scaremonger and I'm not trying to discourage her from doing this, but I love hiking and still feel anxious walking without friends or a group.
Maybe she's not alone.
And i remember she said she has a Gps and her dad always keeps track of where she is when she walks in the fields.

She also doesn’t actually venture far, we see the same xmas tree farm and alpacas and muddy field behind her house in every video.

I just saw this post and instantly thought of Ruby. Picture her in her mid 40s going "Did I mention that I was head girl? Ask me how many points I got on my dissertation"

An empty gap year could be bliss. I was struggling really hard towards the end of my degree, I barely made it through the exams and the thought of moving on with life was enough to make me crumble. I was also lucky to have a supportive family, they didn't mind I was literally in bed from sun up until midnight when I went to sleep again. Barely existing was what I needed and it helped me, I wouldn't care if someone wanted to be a complete potato after a rough time, especially if they can afford it. Ruby is just so adamant on coming off as the structured queen that she isn't, she's turning this year into a creative marathon when it's just a buffer area to postpone adulthood even more. I wonder what goes through her mind, she's always acting and pretending, not a bone in her body feels genuine in anything she does.
