And even after multiple tries, she still couldn't figure out how capital letters work.

Is "Five Books in a Day" the title of a book she read? If not, why are those the only capitalised words in the title?

And it continues...

The best thing about this is that Ruby has made being a gifted bookworm her entire fabricated persona up to now, and yet she is completely incapable of writing about a well-read character who makes literary references. If she struggles to write a character who is supposedly "JOHST LOIKE HARR" without crowd-sourcing her writing, then she has absolutely no hope of writing anyone more diverse than that.

Ruby has been saying for years how much she loves to research and how much she adores learning new things, yet the prospect of doing a little reading and research herself is just out of the question. And the option of simply not having the character in question spout non-stop literary references if she's unable to write them just doesn't occur to big-brain Ruby.

I'd love to know what her agent thinks of Ruby just cheating her way through the writing process like she did her essays.
The Grand High Witch? I adore Dahl’s books - wrote my dissertation on them - but I wouldn’t even say she’s the worst villain in them! Trunchbull comes above me because it’s personal - she kills her own flesh and blood.

Ruby needs to read some George RR Martin for a real villain… it’s about so much more than just being evil! The psychological aspect is key, truly getting under your skin.

I’d say, for that reason alone, Dolores Umbridge would be in my top 10. Other ones I instantly think of are Jack from LOTF, Nurse Ratched from OFOTCN, Napoleon from AF and I would also say Victor Frankenstein (NOT the creature). Ultimate embodiment of “who is the monster and who is the man.” On that note, I have to throw Claude Frolli in their too.

Sorry for the rant! But Ruby gave the most surface-level response for someone who claims to consume books like cups of tea…

I can’t believe her gap year at the age of 22/23 is going to be sitting in her childhood bedroom and going on family holidays 😭

I kind of feel sad for her 🙁

Don't. She's not sick or disabled or crippled in bed or something. She has everything available to her, every opportunities.

It's her own decision to live this way.
So there's no point in feeling sorry.

Her sister has the same life than her and she chose to live differently.

So yeah it's all up to Ruby to decide how she wants to live.

I think if she continues living like this for years, she will regret it eventually.
But it's fine, it's her choice, so it doesn't matter.

what is it her parents actually do because they're very lucky to have been allowed a week or so off so close together

I’m not sure I agree in terms of it being completely her choice. You could say that victims of domestic violence could choose to leave at any point - I’m not saying that Ruby is in any way comparable, but there’s definitely some mental health and psychological issues going on there which are preventing her from living her own life.

Ruby's dead-weighting her carry-on with a book she hasn't read before and won't read now or later, but she wants to be photographed holding the only book she knows is set in Italy while she's in Italy.

And if you for some reason believe that she did read it, it says a lot that Ruby can't just enjoy a holiday in Italy and experience it for herself without reading about Italy while she does it.

It shouldn't be surprising that even a luxurious holiday is just another superficial performance for her, but here we are. What a pathetic existence.

Yeah, this tbh. I know that trying to diagnose people over the internet is a no no but I'll just go out on a limb and say I'm pretty certain Ruby has social anxiety (as one issue among several, probably). Of course, it's still up to her to get treatment etc but I just think that stuff like going on a holiday with people who are not her parents would be harder for her than for the average 22-year old. Then again she does have all the resources she'd need to get better and is not using them so...

Oh please don't compare Ruby to abused people. That's really offensive and disrespectful to real victims. And i would never blame a victim for being unable to leave.

And btw i never blamed Ruby for not wanting to leave her parents. I don't care.

I just said it is her choice cause that's what she said on one of her latest videos. How I'm i supposed to know if she's lying or not.

I agree that there has to be something that prevents her from leaving.
But i don't think for a sec that she has a tragic life lol.

So i still think if she really wants to, she can decide to be independent like her sister.
I don't think whatever obstacles she may have are that huge.

She's top student at university, she's successful on Youtube. I mean she doesn't look like a suicidal traumatized victim to me..

I'm sure she'll be fine honestly. She'll probably leave them eventually from the pressure of ppl who watch her on Youtube anyway.

I think I'm just so surprised that Ruby has read Call By Your Name and apparently loves it as it's really not a book that I can see her wanting to read it, let alone inspiring her to go to Italy. I thought the book was okay but I dislike how predatory it was and the peach scene, I was horrified by that and it's put me off peaches ever since I've read it. I wonder what Ruby thought about it.

Would Ruby want to live in Italy after this? Will it become her new personality and fulfil a certain aesthetic for her? Anxiously awaiting for the new episode of the adventures of Ruby!

She originally said she disliked the book.
But then got a lot of negative messages for this... So she said "i changed my mind".
So I think she actually really hates it.. So she's either lying or forcing herself to like it to please her followers. I don't see the point but ok..... It's not like they will unfollow her for that...

Yes, I'm so surprised by this! Didn't she once admit she always skips romantic parts of books?? So she must have read like ten pages of this one. I think she only skimmed the book as usual and never read those parts. Because no way in hell she actually read all of it and loved it. Imagine her face reading the peach scene. She would be mortified.

You can DAFFINATELY tell she JANUINELY read it by her thorough and in-depth review, which isn't at all suspiciously vague and completely incoherent:

Too bad we missed the boat on having ”rich and quiscent” as a thread title 😂 or, really, any line in this review. It’s pure gold from start to finish 😂

unless my understanding of the word is wrong surely having writing be quiescent is a bad thing especially in the context of call me by your name
Also not sure their relationship is abstract lmao whats abstract about having sex with a peach may I ask

Reading that made my skin crawl. The fact she’s studied English for three years and she can’t write in clear sentences, while also using unnecessarily complex words to make herself seem more intelligent is so highly alarming.

🤣🤣 the peach scene. That’s not a scene she has dramatically rest out loud for us. I’ve only recently started watching Ruby (who knows why) but has she ever been with someone?! I just can’t imagine her whipping off her beads and broaches and getting down and dirty

no I dont think she has, honestly i dont know where she would have gotten the opportunity to as she doesnt socialise enough. she went from an all girls school to spending most of her time at home with family friends and only socialising with the same 1 or 2 girls at uni, the only boy we've ever seen her interact with is jack edwards! and even if shes not into men she isnt exactly a social butterfly with women either!
