I'm guessing she turned down Cambodia (if she'd been asked?) because it's too far from home. Lucky Cambodian kids get Jack, Vee and Jade instead, so that should be enough to put them off education for a lifetime.
I think the fringe wasn't bad at all, it suited her way more than her recent hairstyle. Correctly styled and with slightly shorter hair, it could be a good hairstyle for her ( except if she keep pleating strands of hair for her ponytail just to look "smart". It doesn't look smart, it looks childish. ). Tbh she looked more mature 4 years ago than now, for her hairstyle and clothing, even her attitude ( I remember going out with friends more often, being interested in other subjects than kids literature ).
I for one was glad to see the fringe go because she has spent the majority of her life hiding her big forehead and that's just not a healthy way to live. Eventually you have to grow up and accept your bad features instead of obsessing over hiding them.
Just because you're 'good enough' for Oxbridge, that doesn't mean you should apply.
Oxford and Cambridge offer a smaller range of courses and subject combinations than most other universities. This is not good if you don't want to specialise early or prefer a more Liberal Arts style curriculum.
Some courses are not available, e.g. aspiring marine biologists/oceanographers would be better applying to Southampton because of its facilities, proximity to the ocean and specialist course. If you applied to Cambridge you'd need to wade through the entire Natural Sciences Tripos. Just to use one example from many.
Research strength doesn't always translate into teaching quality. Many lecturers are more interested in their research than teaching undergrads. Just saying.
Many of these courses are very traditional which will suit some people but not others. Personally, I'd prefer a more flexible course, even though I appreciate the thoroughness of the Ox/Cam ones. Example: English at Oxford is very chronological in its structure, so if your main interest is in modern, American or foreign lit then its better to apply somewhere different, maybe for a comparative literature course instead.
The assessments are heavily exam-based. Yes, there's a dissertation for essay subjects, but most of the assessment for arts subjects is based around 3-hour written exams. Again, if you're great at coursework but not timed exams then perhaps reconsider. Having your degree graded on the basis of a final year exam marathon increases the stress SO much more than if you're being assessed throughout your course via a mix of assignments, projects, presentations, essays, etc.
Short terms and intense workload mean that there's extra stress. Students with mental health conditions will be especially affected by this. I decided against applying to either of these unis for mental health reasons and have no regrets.
It's harder to have a balance between academic work and student life. Because Oxford/Cam both emphasise the academic side, it might not be possible to take advantage of all the extra-curriculars and student clubs offered at university. I think that's sad.
Even a first from Oxbridge doesn't mean you'll have good job prospects. To explain: a lot of the newer, less traditional universities are much better when it comes to offering work placements and preparing students for the workplace. This won't be a factor for everyone - some people just want a purely academic degree - but I've definitely known people flounder post-graduation, many ending up overqualified for the work they're doing and frustrated by it, whereas others from less prestigious unis go straight into a job and work their way up.
Wish I'd thought of that when I was rejected from Oxford... I sent a snarky email in reply telling them I would've rejected them anyway lmao
Also, one point I had to consider when picking University is the fact that you literally aren't allowed to work during timetime at Oxford/Cambridge. They literally won't let you. Which is the biggest pile of classist bull I ever heard. Of course Roobee in her Victorian-era manor housecomplete with mummified flies would never think about anyone other than her and her privileged upbringing lol. I want to see a video from her picking apart just how privileged she is and pointing out every way she's had a head start in life compared to other, way less privileged people
Someone I know goes to Exeter and they say Ruby is kind of a joke on campus, back when she was around she'd always be vlogging and annoying people with her loud voice, and kinda looked down her nose at everyone who wasn't in her minute circle of equally unappealing and bland 'friends'.
(I also have tea on Jack Edwards but he at least seemed to have fun at university... If you know what I mean...)

I don't know if that makes me feel sorry for Ruby or not. (Uh oh, I'm veering into sympathy for Ruby territory, send help lol.) I can definitely see how the constant vlogging might get on people's nerves. Does she have a loud voice? She never seems that loud in her videos, but imagining her yelling HALLOO IT'S ROOOBEE around campus is too funny.
I thought this breakfast looked more appealing, but then saw something greenish in top of the image and thought 'god I hope it's not broccoli'. Is it just me? Does anyone else see this? Pea paranoia has reached its peak.

Ruby's not really that loud in public, especially on her own, only really with Blakeney or when when she's trying really hard to act normal by saying "YEAHHH" loudly but that's hardly her norm. She's not exactly an attention seeker in the traditional sense.

It does look green though, and there’s something that looks like a powder on the side of the bowl. My guess is it’s some stupid crap like spirulina that she’s mixed in with the oats to make them ”healthier”. Another obvious ED meal with spirulina a.k.a. another bs ”weight loss aid”, half a banana, possibly an entire strawberry, frozen berries, a small spoon (it’s one of those long-handle spoons) to make the portion look bigger, a teaspoon of peanut butter, and of course the very fact that she’s had to include all the things in one tiny portion because she was unable to choose and this is the only way she can pretend she’s not depriving herself.

I'm guessing it's matcha powder since Ruby is incapable of straying outside the same 5 ingredients.
She already posted this on her "vegan" Insta account, I don't understand why she needs to plaster this ED-baiting bull on her main account, too. And it's an undeclared ad for Manilife, too. Even the spoon was gifted. Shocker.

Ah, forgot about matcha! Same thing applies though, only matcha tastes better and isn’t actively out to kill me the way spirulina is (it’s a super rare allergy, 0/10 would not recommend)
The new outfit post on her instagram really helps illustrate just how much more confident she looks in anything resembling a school uniform... She's positively glowing!
Her Hermione syndrome is showing again. Not being able to get your point across within the word limit is not a flex Rubella, your professors don't care if a fictional character got good grades doing the same thing. I feel sorry for her advisor, imagine not being able to tell her to duck off already.
Does she actually like Hermione anymore? I can't remember when was the last time she spoke about Harry Potter. I liked when she dressed like Hermione. At least she wore normal clothes, skirts, long sleeve tops, cardigans. No weird Miss Patina clothes or that ridiculous tail coat. I'd like her to go back to that, to wearing normal clothes.

isn't that because the terms are so short and intense so they don't want you to become overwhelmed trying to fit a job in too? I don't go there but I have a lot of friends that do and the workload they have is insane, they wouldn't have time for a job.

My doctoral course told us that none of the women could get pregnant during the 3 year course. Said in jest but with a stern warning beneath the surface. Edit - this was 15 years ago but still shocking at the time.
YES. Her hair used to be soo fine (even hair hairline was nice, would you believe it) and at the beginning of university she would at least braid it or do some stuff with it. nowadays it just looks so sad, it’s the same feeling as with her house - i desperately want to go and make something out of all the unused potential. (my hair is crap so i kinda envy her)
I'm wondering has her hair already started to fall off and it's so fragile she can't do hairstyles, because it would speed up the process? And if not, she does know it eventually falls off if she doesn't eat, right?
You don’t really even have to read books, I’m sure the nutritional facts table on your carton of #gifted coconut bleeping milk is enough. (ftr, I agree with the message as well, I’m just up to here with her bs today)
