Oh, the deep joy at Roobs saying everyone should be more "bombastic" like Matilda, the dictionary definition of which is:

"using long and difficult words, usually to make people think you know more than you do".

Sound familiar?
Basically she likes Matilda because she's not like other girls

herself. she's trying not to drop out before handing in her dissertation.
yup. If she has to make a whole video about ”planning for easter break studying” and the actual planning for studying takes up less than 30 seconds of the video, she’s floundering. Instead, it was all about how she tries to convince herself she loves what she’s doing, break ideas, snack ideas, a list of her priorities where ”finish dissertation” is prominently lacking, a sneaky ad for gifted snack bars, and some ”cleaning”. A timetable where ”dissertation” is pencilled in for mornings, together with ”overflow tasks”, and the rest of the day is filled with ”no work” and ”family time”.

I was in so much confusion and disbelief over the literal garlic bread that I googled "raw garlic on bread" and lo and behold, there is an actual recipe for this! Apparently the idea is to toast the bread and then rub the raw garlic on the bread so that the taste rubs off. It's also advertised as having "no added fat" so maybe that played a role in Ruby's thought process (?) as well.

Tbf I do occasionally but only with really good bread (not a sliced granary loaf or whatever the hell that is) and with a good drizzle of olive oil too, and as a base when I’m making bruschetta. Plain, dry, overdone toast and raw garlic is a travesty.

I'm so glad y'all picked up on the absolute mental gymnastics Rubber Duck showed in that video with her "THIS IS FROM LAYTAH" or "THIS IS OVAHR MAHNY DAYS" shit.

Also, I laugh at her going through more notes to add to her diss at this point, but I also cry. If she gets better than perhaps a 60 for this trainwreck, there is no justice and I will forever question the academic integrity of Exeter's English department.

I recently submitted a piece of academic writing for an award and like everyone else here, I‘m extremely confused by her writing process. I had several rounds of comments from four different people and therefore I had about 5-6 different drafts too, but most of the changes were minor, like adding a bit more background info or changing sentence structures. And with the dissertation I think she only got two meetings with her adviser? The general structure or logical progression of my writing never changed. What in the world is she doing? I also stayed several hundred words under the word limit because everything that needed to be said was already included. She is making the whole process so hard for no reason, it‘s embarrassing.

Just found out today that my piece actually got chosen for the award.😁 Whatever Ruby is doing is quite entertaining, but sad.

I think she has so little life experience, it really is. And yes, knowing Ruby she's probably always associated it with being an 'adult' drink, just like alcohol and it's not to be touched. Her life is so boring. I'd like to see her really step outside her comfort zone and be independent during her gap year, but I know it's never happening.
She really is her own worst enemy, she puts up so many arbitrary barriers for herself and doesn't even realize how limited her scope and life experience are because of it. I wish she had friends with normal lives and interests who could help her realize that. But she thinks you can either be like her or be her complete opposite, so she'd never make friends with someone like that

Hey y'all I've lurking for a while and couldn't help finally making an account and joining this trainwreck. First, does anyone know how to add Tattle threads to their Goodreads? I read every Ruby thread so I think that equals about two or three classics?

Second, did anyone notice when she tried to insert a clip of her drinking water when she was talking about being sick but it's actually just her tilting a bottle towards her face? She does it twice and then abruptly cuts away
I often feel guilty about how many books I could actually read instead of about this binfire that is ruby

You guys I just love perlego because you can use the highlight function (which is not available anywhere else and has never been done before) and the notes function (also never done before)! I especially love perlego when they pay me

Ok I know this is just a stupid little thing, but it irks me how she put the yogurt right next to the muffins STILL in the paper cups! Look at the one at the top, half of the cup is submerged in yogurt 😅 . That is the right way to get the cup all soggy and have it tear and stick to the muffin. Have fun picking soggy sticky paper pieces from your food (y)

Really? I think no fringe suits her much better. Makes her look more grown up and her age :)
Maybe it's her huge forehead which disturbs me? Sure that her overly long hair with the fringe wasn't great but I wondered if something like that

could fit her.

*By the way, it annoys me to no end the way Ruby proclaims she's writing a dissertation. You're an undergrad writing a thesis for your Bachelor's degree. No need to get all huffy and puffy about it!
To be fair, that is generally what it’s called in the UK - typically you write a long essay and call it a ‘dissertation’ as the culmination of your undergrad studies. The only time I’ve ever heard people talk about theses tends to be for a PhD, it’d be strange to hear an undergrad talking about their thesis.

The StudyTubers all seem to make very heavy weather of it though. When I was at uni, yes it was a longer piece of writing but it was just the equivalent of a single module - or it was possibly the same as a double module, I can’t honestly remember but whilst it was important it wasn’t this massive production, it was just a longer essay. I remember it being the case that years ago if you didn’t write a dissertation you couldn’t get an honours degree (at least that was the case at my uni) but that changed a long time ago and it was just another module that you could take, or not - what ever worked for you.

I assume her parents are the type to try and sweep things gently under the rug - ignore what's going on and do whatever they can to persuade themselves that Ruby is fine and doesn't need professional support. So yeah, they're probably in denial. We don't want their precious eldest daughter being ill and ruining their image, now do we?

However, I don't think it would be fair to get in touch with Sixteenth/her parents though - firstly because they both know and don't care, but also because I think that's a major breach of a boundary. We can talk about influencers here, complain and make fun, praise them even, but actually going so far to contact management/family I think is going too far. We're not Ruby's friends, and we don't know her, it would feel far too close to harassment and stalking to contact people close to her even if it could potentially do good (which it wouldn't tbh).
This.

I’ve said this before, but when I have something positive or constructive to say to Rootabaga, I say it to her in the comment section. All the rest, I bring here. And I keep the two separate. Her many problems seem obvious to us, but our role is to watch the trainwreck, not try to stop it or tell others they should stop it. She has a loving family who are probably doing the best they can, and very good access to help, should she choose to pursue it, but she’s the only one who can choose to do so. Family can only do so much - and we can do nothing that would be even remotely useful or constructive.

"I'm trying to stop waarhk at one forteee-foive because I don't WAAHRK VARRY WAL in the afternyoons? Syo it doesn't seem wahrth it tyoo spend toiyme...WAARHKing from tyoo to four?"
I’m gonna try this out at waahrk, idk it just seems varry productive and above all conducive to my goals which mainly have to do with me having mahrr free toyim 💫

Such a surprise that she then went onto write a book where she bombards the reader about how much better her self-insert character is compared with her "peers" and her little brother.

I can only hope the dynamic between her and Martha growing up wasn't actually like that. I'd hate to think Martha grew up thinking her identity was "the not-academic daughter" because of Ruby deliberately and repeatedly calling attention to her excessive studiousness in an effort to set herself apart from Martha.
I've said it before, but Ruby has infinitely more in common with Harry Wormwood than Matilda. Both are dishonest swindlers, both are demeaning and dismissive of people they deem beneath them, both have a massively inflated sense of self-importance, and both are running ongoing scams knowingly selling faulty goods at inflated prices.

It's also hilarious that Ruby says she admires Matilda questioning adult voices and making up her own mind when Ruby has never had an independent thought in her life and takes everything she reads or hears from academics as gospel.

It's also super telling that yet again, for Blakeney's birthday present, Ruby gave Blakeney something Ruby herself wanted rather than planning something thoughtful for Blakeney.

Seems a bit random but this outfit looks okay. I wonder if her management sorted out a stylist for the night or something?

Note the bag she's holding is a promotional gift bag handed out full of free swag, which will be the only major reason (along with the inflated sense of self-worth she'll get from being around semi-famous people she doesn't know) she attended.

Sixteenth: "Anyone free Friday and want to attend a Netflix premiere event for Anatomy of a Scandal? There'll be famous people and free stu--"
Ruby: "FREE STUFF?! (Shoves her hand in the air) OOH, OOH, ME!ME!ME! I DO, I DO, I DO! I knyow ALL about scandals, AND my Yahhr 7 science teacher said that OIY...was VARRY knowledgeable about mammal anatomy because OIY...knew EXACTLY whahhr the heart is lyocated! Syo this Anatomy Scandal documentary series will be SYO GUD! It's probably moi most FAVOURITE series that I've just heard about!"
Sixteenth: "A simple "yes" would suffice..."

I don’t understand why she insists on showing off her absolutely tragic outfits in the first place. She’s not a fashion influencer, no one asked (despite her always claiming she received soo much questions about it) and the outfits are really bad. She’s just embarrassing herself.

The new outfit post on her instagram really helps illustrate just how much more confident she looks in anything resembling a school uniform... She's positively glowing! 😬
I swear that actually is her old school uniform. For some reason I keep getting old Ruby videos recommended and I recently watched a ‘six am school routine’ or something and I’m sure she’s wearing that very same outfit and tie. Clearly for this event she got to cosplay as Head Girl again and she’s loving it.
