Ruby doesn’t seem to have much of an eye for clothes and suffers from that thing of thinking that anything that is ‘old’ works for any period, which is odd given her supposed interest in history. You can see she’s trying to develop her personal style but just goes a bit overboard and puts way too much mismatching stuff together. She’s going for that eclectic vintage style but she just ends up looking like she’s been mugged by an Oxfam donations bag. It’s a shame as she does have some nice pieces but she ends up wearing them all at the same time and it’s too much.

Yeah she really doesn't know what looks good on her. It seems she's striving to make the wrong choice at any turn when picking out her outfits
I can never quite work out whether Ruby is over- or under-confident or whether she’s a weird mix of both. It’s like the outfit she wore to the premiere. The dress was ok, but it looked weird with the white knitted shawl thing.She either wasn’t confident enough in the dress and took the shawl to hide behind, or she genuinely thought it looked good. If she really wanted to wear something then heck, she’s a middle-class white girl and I’m sure there’s a brightly coloured pashmina or five floating round that house, something a bit less ‘frilly’ would have looked more stylish. Or if she really, really wanted to wear the tailcoat then there are ways to style it, but it probably would have taken more confidence than Ruby had to pull it off - a tailored white shirt, black shorts and tights and some killer shoes could have looked fab. Emma Watson has worn similar and looked great. She just needs to pick a piece and build an outfit round it, but she goes too far and ends up wearing some Tory MP’s wife/primary school child/kid playing dress up cosplay.

Nooo. I couldn't decide whether to give this the 'sick' or 'laughing' emoji so went with a plain like instead. I've never questioned how Penultimate stumbled across Ruby's videos, but now it's on my mind and your comment sounds worryingly plausible.
There was also that openly creepy middle-aged guy whose name I don't remember.
Blakeney has been sporting a maroon Kanken lately. I know Ruby said shed given her other classic size ones away when she bought her laptop one- it would be remarkably kind if shed given the maroon one to Blakeney?
I don’t understand why she insists on showing off her absolutely tragic outfits in the first place. She’s not a fashion influencer, no one asked (despite her always claiming she received soo much questions about it) and the outfits are really bad. She’s just embarrassing herself.
I think she’s one of those horrendously insecure people who tries to hide it by acting better than everyone else
A lot of Ruby's fashion choices remind me of the clothes my mom chose for me until I was about 12-13. She really gives off "tween girl in the late 2000's" vibes, despite trying so hard to be old-fashioned and quirky

I'm quite shocked after reading the wiki, but what always bugged me about her was her ED. I stopped watching her videos even ocassionally because of how unhealthy she seemed. I just dismissed it as her being vegan and thus making herself sick - rather than researching how to eat a vegan diet she just eats like normal except things that aren't vegan (if that makes sense). Although many of the people I watch from YouTube turn vegan and the health issues follow shortly. Subtle at first, then doctors needed. But after seeing the photo proof from tattle about her meals I'm appealed to say the least. Especially that the "finger sandwiches". So irresponsible.
Other than that her persona and video ideas are pretty boring. I remember seeing one where she was talking about all the different ways you can use an empty notebook. Pretty wasteful in my opinion. You really don't need to waste paper on many of the trivial things she apparently uses her 30 odd notebooks for.
Reading about her wealthy parents I just don't understand how people find her relatable/inspiring/a credible advocate for lower and middle classes?? Despite her extensive vocabulary and apparent education she seems a bit daft.
I'm glad this thread exists and looking forward to seeing more on here, though I definitely will not follow or watch her again - tattle is my news source

yup. If she has to make a whole video about ”planning for easter break studying” and the actual planning for studying takes up less than 30 seconds of the video, she’s floundering. Instead, it was all about how she tries to convince herself she loves what she’s doing, break ideas, snack ideas, a list of her priorities where ”finish dissertation” is prominently lacking, a sneaky ad for gifted snack bars, and some ”cleaning”. A timetable where ”dissertation” is pencilled in for mornings, together with ”overflow tasks”, and the rest of the day is filled with ”no work” and ”family time”.
^ She spends more time planning the thing than doing the thing. It's like she needs a bunch of external motivators in order to actually feel safe doing the task...
The video is also so obviously sped up, she looks and sounds like a chipmunk on uppers.
I can see Ruby moving Blakeny into her house, like Anne Lister and Ann Walker as '2 well respected ladies not inclined to marry'
