Do you think Ruby is now cosplaying as a historian? With her curly hair, she somewhat reminds me of the historian Suzannah Lipscomb, from the Youtube Channel Absolute History

The wavy hair is just part of her Blakeney cosplay, which she occasionally blends with her Victorian chambermaid/malnourished pilgrim costumes.

She definetly could of. If her parents could pay her private school fees they could of paid for boarding school easily. Maybe she was shy when she was young and they didn't want to send her away?
I inagine she asked to going into secondary school or sixth form but wasn't allowed so she threw a tantrum.
That or they knew that they'd blow money on the fees only for Ruby to call home the first night begging to be picked up early like a kid at a sleepover.

That's such a shame ☹
It really is, because it's such a beautiful village, in such a great part of the county, and I loved growing up there. But it's rotten to the core, most of the children that go to the village school don't even live in the village (or they have parents rich enough to move into catchment, then move back out once they're older/their place at the school is secured).

From Ruby's mum's blog:

'even though I am now the 1950's housewife in my household, I am not a very good one. I am quite slapdash and happy for the house to look overall clean and tidy.'

This doesn't even make sense. Does she mean that she's happy for the house to look less than clean and tidy? And it's evident from the filth that she barely cleans at all.
'Slapdash'? It sounds like she's saying she's half-assed with the cleaning. Their house does look like they could use some thorough housecleaning and de-cluttering. There's a big difference between being a bit messy in a homey sense and being carelessly dirty and leaving things out because you can't be bothered, which is definitely the latter in the Bones household.

I think she's trying to say that because she keeps the bulk of the house generally clean, it's fine if there's cobwebs in the corner or dust on the shelves. She's down to earth and not like other housewives. The problem is that the whole house looks dank, dingy and disgusting and its floors and surfaces have never seen a cleaning product in the entire time that family has lived there. Instead she spends her days indulging the childish fancies of her daughter and living a life of leisure.
It's obvious where Ruby gets her fantasy world from - Mummy Granger!

That whole description makes me roll my eyes so hard they might stick. "Dicken's takes us on a journey, introducing us to people, places, and things". So basically you are describing every fictional book ever. She does this all the time. Writes a bunch of non-descript nonsense, that proves she cares more about the appearance of being well-read, but just isn't. I still don't know how she gets firsts when she clearly lacks the ability to be articulate. I am not familiar with the book she is talking about, but her "review" didn't provide me with anything meaningful, and I still have no idea what the book is about. "Witty travel writing". Okay, meaning what exactly?
This just reminds me of that Parks and Rec episode where April goes for the pageant - “I like people, places, and things”

Except she is taking the piss and being stupid… and Ruby is nearing the end of an English Literature degree and giving a genuine book review…

Did she genuinely include period pads in her ‘emergency kit’?! That surprises me… a bit of a grown-up thing for Roobes to be talking about isn’t it?!
Honestly, I think it'd be fair if she never mentioned periods on her channel - fear of becoming an adult or potential ED red flags aside, it's not a topic that everyone would wanna share to an audience of potentially 100k or more. But her idea of the emergency kit (if that's something she actually did and didn't just film for the sake of busywork) showed one (1) singular period pad - I know if I suddenly get my period while I'm out all day, one pad isn't going to last :ROFLMAO: you'd think it's worth taking a few, especially so you don't have to replace it so often. (Potentially bordering on nitpicky as this was only a few seconds worth of footage, but I'm petty)

I guess at the age of 21 she finally feels ready to reference periods in public

Some vegans make exceptions for honey. I'm vegan and (please don't come for me) and I personally will eat honey if it's local and I know the beekeeper (I don't eat honey you find in the supermarket), but I do agree that it is weird that she doesn't explain her reasoning behind her food choices. I don't seem to remember her making any video/announcement or anything explaining why she was going vegan in the first place and what it means to her. I could have missed it though.
To clarify, I was not implying that you cannot call yourself vegan if you eat honey. I'm not vegan so I really have no leg to stand on about this lol
In the context of Ruby though it just feels like another label she just superficially and carelessly appropriates

Well...

Btw maybe it’s me but some of her “most favourite photos with Margot” are so random? Like some of these seem like a space filler for many other cute photos you’d have from living with the dog for +10 years.
And who is that person? I guess I’m not very knowledgeable about Roobee lore.

Yeah these pictures are super random. Like in the first one the focus isn't even Ruby and the dog, it's Ruby and the other girl and they aren't even looking at the dog lmao
And the second one looks like the kind of random picture I'd send my boyfriend to show him what I'm doing at a given moment (like not the kind of picture you take to remember that moment or because the dog is looking cute). For all we know Ruby didn't even take the picture herself.
I've had my cat for 4 years I think and I have hundreds of cute/artistic pictures of her, on her own or with me or other members of my family. Last year my mom even made me a calendar with her pictures as a gift for Christmas.

Personally I don't think she was ever very attached to either of their dogs. I remember the first time she showed herself interacting with the dogs on one of her videos and they seemed to keep their distance from her and didn't even wag their tails. It is pretty obvious she mostly ignored them and only got into walking/playing with them to copy Holly. Spending time with pets probably wasn't productive enough for her. I am sad for the dog, but really not going to get ridiculous about it. I didn't know it, I don't know the family, I have no association with their dogs, and her sad stance is performative, like everything else about her. At this point I distrust her on every level. I don't see why her viewers are so blind to all of this.

She never talks about truly important world events. No mentions of Haiti, Afghanistan, no mention of the gymnastics during the Olympics, regardless of those famous twins. She didn't mention the teams once during it and it ended over a week ago. For someone who reads the news headlines daily, I am surprised she never brings any awareness to her platform. This just is another example of her living in her bubble and disinterest in others, situations in the world, and only occasionally pick and chooses ones that may fit her "aesthetic" mood of the day. She never looks beyond her own stuck up nose. She is so self-centered and self-absorbed. She really has no feelings for others, but cries bully at every negative comment or scribbles down notes for any person who is remotely kind to her, and judges everyone! Her perspective on life is so twisted.
She lives in her own little Ruby Granger world of tea parties and running through fields and children's characters and Victorian fantasies. I highly doubt the current global affairs are much on her radar, beyond the flash briefing she listens to or the headlines she claims to peruse daily. Does she even have any opinions of her own? Probably not, beyond those she has heard from her parents. She's twelve and happy remaining there.

Also the phrase 'sell out' has pretty negative connotations. 'Best-selling' would have made more sense.
Seeing as there’s very little Roobee wouldn’t do for money, I’d say it’s pretty apt. A bit of dramatic irony to entertain us 😂

Tbh I suppose she's same as Ruby. She wouldn't hang out so close with her if she wasn't. Same as Molly turned out to be a shitty person too.
Yep plus she has definitely capitalised on Ruby's following to promote her own projects. I doubt she'd give Ruby the time of day if she wasn't semi famous.

Theoretically the goodreads rating system should be based on how much you personally enjoyed the book. So it could be that your analysis is different from how much you actually enjoyed reading the book. But in reality it just doesn't work like that.
There's nothing wrong with hating books other people loved and vice versa, or loving a book completely despite major flaws, or disliking a book despite it being technically well written, etc..

Ruby's "reviews" leave no room for that kind of critical leeway though. She goes directly for the declarative cover blurb review statements that simply don't correspond to the rating given, like "An incredible book! Everyone should read this! 3/5" or "Perfect! Completely flawless! 4/5"

She just lies about what she reads, drops random ratings on books because she knows she can't give everything 5 stars without even her fans raising an eyebrow (although I'm sure some would comment "You can tell Ruby's a true bookworm because she loves every book!) and now avoids leaving reviews because it would highlight that she didn't read the book in question (like her infamous Call Me My Your Name review).

I am absolutely certain I saw her respond to a comment a couple of weeks ago of someone telling her to try reading Spanish poetry, cheeky how she’s taken that idea and used it for an ad 🤣
It would be awfully tempting, if I were an evil person, to turn it into some kind of game to make increasingly subversive suggestions for things Ruby to do in the comments and see if she presents them a couple of weeks later as her own idea.
