I think she just doesn't have the skills to do anything more complicated than a ponytail. Her attempts at putting her hair up in a simple bun were pretty bad for a 21-year-old and she can't even do a French braid.

I guess it's like saying "the very best" or something. "Very" is pretty unnecessary and pointless in this case, but people still sometimes use it to emphasize the adjective. I always think it sounds a bit old fashioned/pretentious to use the word "very" in front of these superlatives, maybe that's why Ruby does it so much

It does exist in some other languages, German for example: das Allerbeste (the very best thing/one). There are a lot of expressions like this in German, but they are considered unsophisticated or a little childish. That said, they are fine for social media and informal writing, I'd say.

I suppose I hate "very unique" much more, as it truly makes no sense. I have started ridding my own formal writing of excessive adverbs (like very), because I have noticed how repetitive they can be. Often cutting useless adverbs will enhance the ones you do use, because everything isn't "very interesting" or " very neat" or "very eloquent." That's not an argument for minimalism; it's more about trusting the force of your words.

I have to say the Kanken is remarkably comfortable. However she tries to carry too many heavy things like a laptop in it. She’s have been better off getting the laptop version which also has padded straps.

Yeah, no doubt it's a well made bag, but it's just not a good choice for her purposes at all (or at least what she's claiming to use it for). No doubt she just saw a lot of other influencers with one and bought several in the same size, despite claiming to need a much larger bag.

Yupp, the second commenters started mentioning Ruby being unfollowed, Molly quickly U-turned and started fawning all over Ruby with praise for her wonderful, helpful content. Which is incredibly irresponsible to all Molly’s followers who started watching her videos focused around her eating disorder. Then she glowingly endorsed Ruby's toxic, triggering content. She's just as bad as Ruby.

I learned about Greek mythology from Stephen Fry's Mythos and Heroes books, as I didn't know many of the stories and my school had glossed over it. Now that I've read those so many things make sense in other books, as many invoke motifs, morals etc from those myths. It's definitely worth learning about those. I'm surprised Ruby hasn't created herself some busywork on it, we know she likes to "research".

I'm sure there are also dozens of Ted Talks/Ted videos, podcasts etc that deal with Greek mythology. It would really benefit her to at least learn the basics.
Maybe my perspective is biased because in my country Greek and Roman mythology, art and literature is a huge part of our education and anyone graduating high school would be expected to be familiar with it, at the very least. Especially if you're going to pursue a degree in the humanities afterwards.

Ruby "didn't have a Greek phase" Granger, literally has multiple ig story highlights saying how much she's loving the Emily Wilson translation of The Odyssey.

I think they truth of the matter is she can't deal with the quite mature nature of Song of Achilles (and The Secret History) and so doesn't want to finish them, which is fine! There's nothing the matter with not finishing books that are not your cup of tea! But there's no need to lie to herself and to her audience about why she's not finishing them. Also wouldn't be surprised if she was only talking about how much she's loving The Odyssey becuase it has a pretty cover

Honestly watching the first few minutes of her video (which is how far I got before getting bored) I kept thinking that she probably has not read most of the books on her shelves. She kept commenting on the pretty covers and how beautiful the illustrations are, which I get, it's a bookcase video, but like...that can't be all there is to say about it lol
I was not looking forward to spending 40 minutes hearing about how beautiful her children's books are so I tapped out. It was a very repetitive video with little substance.

I must admit that my own knowledge of Lawrence is very limited. I've only ever read Lady Chatterley and I didn't know he wrote that which, I agree is appalling. I don't like that he wrote that and I can understand why his opinions on "natural" orgasms would be an outdated and anachronistic view in these times. I loved Lady Chatterley and as with so many writers both modern and not, I think it is important to love their work with the caveat of the context of the times they lived. I loved LC because I thought the characters and plot were beautiful and important. That's enough. I don't go into reading a book necessarily knowing anything about the writer. The writer themselves isn't important; their skill at telling a story is. DH Lawrence was a flawed human being who could write a bloody good story. For me, that's all I need. For Ruby, I think that is what she needs to open her mind to. She has a very limited, very childlike view of the world and it needs to be exposed to the more grown up and adult half of her life.

I think this is a very mature way of looking at things

I have no doubt those clothes are comfy but there's no way I'd take a picture of myself wearing that and posting it on social media calling it an outfit of the day. (Maybe to nip to the cornershop but even then I would think twice about it!)

The green thing she's got on underneath could be nice depending on the cut, I like the colour and it suits her. But that granny cardie. No.

At this point it almost seems she's trying deliberately to make dressing in an unfashionable way a personality trait.

Btw maybe it’s me but some of her “most favourite photos with Margot” are so random? Like some of these seem like a space filler for many other cute photos you’d have from living with the dog for +10 years.

If ever there's a person who Ruby is socialising with who isn't Blakeney (or someone she met through Blakeney), it's usually a safe bet that it's a friend of the family - Ruby seems incapable of making friends of her own, unsurprisingly.

Also not surprising that she struggled to find photos of herself with the dogs considering how awkward and disdainful she's always seemed around them. Have the dogs ever set foot in Ruby's room in a video?

I just feel sad for her because she doesn't look healthy at all. It's shocking.

I feel sorry for her too. She does not look at all well. Vegetarian and even vegan diet can be done in a healthy way. What she's doing aint it. What pisses me off is that I get the impression that she sees how she looks as a win.

I've seen her last video and I had to stop at the 1:30 minute. I mean, maybe it's bc I study engineering and it's a different type of studies but how u r supposed to do your work before uni starts if they have to teach u how to do it? and then, autumn it is not around the corner, why she doesn't enjoy spending time without studying? What is she going to do after uni? I can't understand her vision of life...

I agree I'm doing a nursing degree can't really read up on what will come on to the ward in six months and prepare my assignment paper on what happened

It's very pretty but ridiculously expensive. The kitchen is tiny and there isn't even an entrance hall. No furniture and a tiny courtyard garden. And it seems very expensive for the area. Compare to this: https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/111163034#/?channel=RES_LET

Tbh I hate it. It only looks semi acceptable from outside. It's not cosy at all and not very functional. The entrance is straight to the living room which has a fucking white carpet. No closet or anything. Super tiny kitchen and giant bedroom compared to that. Idk for her budget I would have expected sth better.

Very off topic but I’m sorry the fact she gave The Five a 3*…. I’m the first to defend 3* reviews and not being negative reviews, and I know opinions are subjective, but to do it in the same breath as saying it’s an important “narrative”, Ruby it’s a historical account of the LIVES of the women, anyone who didn’t profess to be a high first class English literature student aiming to go into the publishing industry could get away with conflating that maybe, but if that’s what you’re building your online presence on, and possible future career, you really can’t especially not when it comes to a book as important as The Five - and she even says the research is incredible when that’s literally the entire book, so why the rating Ruby? Sorry needed the rant
