Hi! long time lurker, new poster, and probably OT

sorry to beat a dead horse here, because Erimentally Damaging has been brought up countless times and shat on, but I'm always disappointed thinking of it. the title makes me think of bucket lists people make when they're disabled or terminally ill, which would have been much more engaging than watching Erimentha bitch about her peers for 30 chapters.

maybe she's moving away, maybe she's got some degenerative disease and her eyes are going. the book could've been about her trying to make the most of her life in the most stereotypical way (reading a ton, appreciating nature but in a way that's so forced it makes me wince), hence making a shit ton of to do lists and trying to cram everything into her day, even if all the things she does is useless. she isolates herself so she can pursue hobbies she thinks she can't pursue for much longer, and she plans for so much, even social interactions, because she doesn't want to waste a second of her limited time.

but then along the way she realizes realizes it's not working. she thinks that hey, maybe she's just wasting time. but then she clings harder to the to do list making, even if it's starting to scare her and make her anxious, because how else is she going to spend her time? she doesn't want to confront the fact that she wasted so much time on useless shit, time she could have spent actually having fun, so she goes harder.

Sorry but I'm a bit emotional at the moment, so you guys can correct me, but be aware I am speaking out via emotions.
Where I grew up It was a constantly made fun of suburb, where we were all called bogans, laughed at so forth.I remember being absolutely embarrassed to say where I lived for YEARS. The houses were cheap (hence why my parents could afford my house)

Now I cannot even afford a house there because landlords and people like Ruby and her parents thinking. I know she didn't personally do this to me (she doesn't even live in my country, Australia) but I feel like saying fuck you, fuck you fuck you. This isn't even emotion at Ruby, it's emotion at everyone who felt "investing in property you won't even live in for a few years" is a moral, ethical thing to do. Fuck you.

Sorry for being emotional, but that video honestly tipped me.

hey a fellow aussie!!!!! the australian housing market is absolutely stuffed. my parents bought our house in 1999, the price is now 8x (last time we got in valued about 2 years ago) the original price....

on the topic of moving out in your 20s, i don't think i know anyone my age (24) who doesn't want to move out? i moved out the start of this year and god it was so scary but the experience and independence you gain is amazing! becoming an adult and doing adult things is and can be really daunting but it is just a part of life, you will have to get on with it one day!!! yeah you still struggle, cry, get confused and overwhelmed etc but it will be ok! (yes, this is very simplified and every situation is different but i know you guys understand me lol)

Molly just recommended Ruby’s YouTube on her Instagram stories specifically as something that makes her smile on bad days. So… pretty much a given that someone with an ED asked her this referencing her ED too… and she’s pointing them towards Ruby’s channel.
Just really scummy behaviour now. I’m actually interested to know whether she thinks Ruby’s videos aren’t triggering anymore so it’s ok? Or she really doesn’t care as long as she realises tagging Ruby means that Ruby’s followers will be directed to her page too.

One thing I have never understood is Ruby's desk. It is small, oddly shaped (I think her father did it?) and messy, with stains, etc.. It isn't a very practical desk for a over-achiever, university student. There is little room to spread things out and even less for storage. Now she has that new chair which is far too low for her and it looks like her chin is the same height as the desk! Now I know why all this excess furniture has landed in her room with little practical purpose. She has to constantly move that table around because it is always in the way. Why not just shove the dang thing into the attic and be done with it....or some other random room in their house? If she has so much money, or her family does, why not splurge and get her a decent desk/work space? I loved my dorm room desk. So wide and deep. I ended up buying a large one that I still own because I like all that space for projects, be it study or art related. I could never work properly at such a confined space as her itty bitty desk. Because it matches that crazy itty bitty random shelf her father recently built? Why?? lol

Yeah, she would definitely benefit from having more desk space. In terms on stuff actually on the desk, both her and Holly's setups drive me crazy. They spend the whole day staring at a tiny 13 in screen and typing on that macbook butterfly keyboard everyone hates. In their vlogs, it's obvious that Ruby is constantly going back and forth between windows, and Holly split screens things so they are even tinier than they already were. Like if your whole life revolves around computers, spending some money to renovate your workspace would be a great investment. In Ruby's case, I bet her parents would gladly buy her a fancy external monitor for Christmas if she just asked.

That whole description makes me roll my eyes so hard they might stick. "Dicken's takes us on a journey, introducing us to people, places, and things". So basically you are describing every fictional book ever. She does this all the time. Writes a bunch of non-descript nonsense, that proves she cares more about the appearance of being well-read, but just isn't. I still don't know how she gets firsts when she clearly lacks the ability to be articulate. I am not familiar with the book she is talking about, but her "review" didn't provide me with anything meaningful, and I still have no idea what the book is about. "Witty travel writing". Okay, meaning what exactly?

I had to look up what Dickens' first novel was because based on her description and the outfit I had no idea lol

Yes Ruby, Song of Achilles is one of the most successful books of the last decade thanks to everyone else either had an innate childhood understanding of the Greeks or they did lots of busy work research before reading it, you know it’s not like they could have just read it and enjoyed it for what it is?

I completely understand that knowing the mythology gives you added perspective so not blaming her for looking into it but I didn’t know the stories before reading it either and, beyond quickly googling or asking my boyfriend about a couple of names to check relations, I just enjoyed it for the story itself if that makes sense? My boyfriend has an encyclopaedic knowledge on mythology and he also really liked it

I think Roobee is bound to be even more upset now after losing her dog, it’s a painful process for most people when their pet dies and it’s understandable for her to be in a bit of a slump. But she’s not addressing it, one post and that’s it pretty much- trying to distract herself with outfit videos. I would say she could be speaking out about emotions and showing young followers that it’s okay to grieve, but instead she’s playing into the toxic productivity/positivity culture again. Is she worried people would call her out for attention seeking? because mourning a pet is pretty normal and only someone heartless would say otherwise. Ruby really should take a proper break, because she genuinely does look so sad right now.

So going back to the yearly planner - how stupid is it to release a yearly planner a week AFTER Christmas, where everyone who regularly uses a yearly planner will most likely have been given one as a gift?
Obviously Ruby makes stupid decisions all over the place, but her production company just sit back and let it happen? Have they just given up on her totally?

I totally understand not liking a dated children’s book if you read it at 21 (and please don’t think I’m excusing Blyton’s problematic aspects, I read her Famous Five books when I was about 10 and I just loved the “idyllic adventures”, I wouldn’t probably like them now), but given it’s her we’re talking about, I doubt that’s the reason why she disliked it lmao

the paperlike is honestly really not worth the money it seems to be more of the “fashionable” one to get
i got two screen protectors that imitate paper for half the price of the paperlike, and the reviews were/are so much better!
i think it’s just sad that she doesn’t look into products before buying them, only really getting them if they fit an aesthetic or because other popular people are buying them too

I do not get why an English student would choose to write her notes by hand, either on paper or on an iPad, when typing is so much quicker, more versatile and requires less effort. I get that someone who is studying, idk, Engineering and needs to write equations or draw diagrams and stuff can only do that by hand, but Ruby is studying Eng Lit. I imagine her notes are a lot like mine. My International Law notes are 120 pages long in a Word document. Can you imagine if I wrote all of that by hand?
Then I make mindmaps and stuff by hand when I'm studying because it helps me remember but writing out extensive/discursive notes by hand I do not get at all.
