I have so many problems with this for two reasons. The first is being a bit naughty at three is normal. I have never met a three year old who doesn't at some point push their boundaries. You don't know how to NOT push boundaries until you DO. Secondly, the reaction of the teacher was (to me) perfectly normal. The sight of three three year olds about to jump out of a window would make me shout too out of fear and to regain control. Even at three, you as the adult have to assert authority. The fact of whether or not Ruby jumped out of the window is fuzzy so that probably means she didn't do it. The school would HAVE to tell her parents if she did that as a safeguarding issue and you can bet your bottom dollar, if she had jumped put of a window, her parents would remember it. The fact this teacher never came back is very odd to me. She was fired? For what, having a normal human reaction to children in danger? That's very very strange.

As I have said before, I am a pre-school teacher and this is so far off base, I'm legit amazed at this. Firstly, being in nursery at age three is quite usual as in the UK, children go to school the school year after their fourth birthday. Some unfortunate children who are born in September are only a few weeks away from five when they start so Ruby going to pre-school at three is not unusual at all.

The ethos of Early Years is to create an environment where learning through play is the norm. Ruby says she was only in nursery for three days before this happened so she was still settling in. Settling in is actually a vital part of the journey a child takes in pre-school. It is where a child learns the routines, what is expected of them and slowly gets to know people. If on the third day of pre-school, Ruby jumped out of a window and ran around with no thought of how an adult would react, I think that is indicative that Ruby had no boundaries as a very young child. She was centre of attention, apple of Mummy's eye, doing ballet, used to being filmed and followed around. Ruby is the star of the show. Ruby is in control. How typical.

So, then she goes on to say that this is the worst thing she's ever done and her mother told her the teacher was fired when she was seven. My question is why? Did she tell her just to tell her or was she telling her as a cautionary tale so Ruby would see how out of control she was and how she needed to stop pushing her boundaries creating guilt, a desire to please and to do her best to atone for such behaviour? That's mad!

When she talks about her "detention" (you don't give three year olds detention - it's pointless!), it's the next day which is a waste of time because it's been and gone. If they were going to give her time out, it needed to be when the incident happened. Sit her down, explain why she had to sit still and then give her no attention. To do it the next day is beyond pointless. Sitting inside drawing pictures isn't a punishment. It's a play activity. It doesn't give any indication to the child that they are being admonished for poor choices. Something about this does not add up to me at all.

Three year olds are supposed to push their boundaries and adults are supposed to correct them. This video is so worrying to me because Ruby should not feel guilty for how she was as a child. We are what we are but moreover, it is bizarre and worrying that the guilt from this is still with her fifteen years later. It's just more proof that her spirit was kind of broken by the weight of expectations and demands.

In my previous, pre-academia (lol) life I was a primary school teacher, and my last job was as a Reception class teacher and Acting Head of EYFS. This video is, to be frank, a load of bullshit. I 100% think you hit the nail on the head when you speculated that this was something she had been told about by her Mum, and then in KangaRuby's precious mind twisted it into something that it was not, and never was, and based it on fractions of memory she had from Nursery.

Like, child development wise, there is no way you would remember that much about an event that long ago, or in that much detail. I have memories of Nursery, but fragments; my main memory being when I was told off for taking my shoes off and going to sleep in the bed in the home corner rather than going outside for free play.

I also have a feeling that Rubadub will have been sent to a Montessori preschool or Montessori-aligned Nursery, due to their popularity with rich champagne socialists/Tory snobs (which is unfortunate, cos it was always designed to break down barriers from education and open it up to everyone).

I've never really understood why adult YouTubers do 'Back to School' content. It would be more acceptable to title them as 'Getting ready for September/new academic year' or other more generic title, then viewers can take what they want from it (be it school, university, a new job etc.).

It makes it confusing who she thinks her audience is.

I too am disappointed in Molly, I thought her unfollowing of Ruby over triggering content was good but she seems to have backtracked, possibly in order to keep being friends with Blakeney she has to put up with Roooooobeeeee? I dunno, but I am convinved once they finish the degree, Blakeney and Ruby will drift apart.

Tbh I think Molly is just a standard clout chaser. From what I understand, she already had a following from her ED recovery channel, and now that she’s recovered from the ED she needs some new content and to expand her fan base a bit so is just using Ruby to get a leg up.
Also, Molly’s content is already very similar to what Ruby puts out (look at me vlogging my very easy middle class life, watch me sit and read a book in my lovely house in the home counties/west London, now I’m going to spend £12 on 1 latte and a croissant in this boujee cafe etc), but there’s only so far that can take you, so I reckon she’ll be trying to expand into some more academic / booktuby type content in the near future which she can use Ruby to help with too.

If Ruby is smart, which she rarely is, she will never move into that cottage. She was an adult when she shared it, talked about it, bragged about it, did a video that showed inside and outside. And it wasn't hard for people to find out the exact address. Without thinking, the woman who is afraid to walk beyond her parent's backyard showed the internet her future home. She has a huge following. Who knows what crazy people are out there watching her every move who, if she moved in there, would show up at her door, stalk her, etc.. Seriously, though, this is a good example of the over-sharing she and so many YouTubers do. They are so full of themselves and desperate for "content" they never think about what they are doing or what parts of their life they should really keep private for a myriad of reasons, safety being first. Hopefully she does read this forum, because she made herself a target and ruined that place for herself. Wise up, Ruby. You are not as smart as you thought, are you? Dimwit decision.

This!! Whenever I watch Ruby's vlogs from the flat she's sharing with Blakeney I feel lowkey worried about them. On multiple ocassions, Ruby has filmed them walk to uni and into the city center, also the garden/outside area of their flat. If someone knows the area well, they might know where they live. I would never, ever do that.

I feel like she is trying to live two completely seperate lives and be all things to all people, no wonder she has so little sense of self. she genuinely needs to just get COMPLETELY off the internet for a good 6 months and try and figure it out. ruby isn't a teen anymore but her personality is obviously shaped by only internet subcultures (like many of us are, some more a bigger extent like ruby). i believe a lot of teens would be really confused atm due to all these "aesthetics" etc etc. as i said, everyone is shaped by the things we enjoy such as music, movies, etc) but for people like ruby i think the internet can be too much and very confusing as they try to fit in to these specifics so much but in turn it's confusing her snd she can't figure out what she really enjoys and who she is...

It's not you - almost all of it is an embarassing mess that has nothing to do with the discussion topic.

It's a recurring trend with Ruby to awkwardly shoehorn irrelevant things she likes into her essays, presentations, etc., even if they have nothing to do with the topic at hand. And there's nothing she likes more than herself.

She's still doing it with her dissertation, and wasted half the summer doing dissertation prep on the subject of Victorian letter writing etiquette, which is barely tangentially related to English lit, let alone relevant enough to base an entire dissertation around.

So it's not surprising she did the same with that presentation. She introduces it like a teacher. "I hope you're all adjusting well to online learning" is not a normal thing for a fellow student to say. They were all suffering through the peak of covid, just say "I hope you're all doing okay in this nightmare year we're having" - for most people, studying isn't the only thing in the world and they have other things to worry about.

And then she spends the rest of the presentation inflating her ego. "I am important. I am impressive. People listen to me. I am a leader. I am successful." I can only hope someone asked her what she actually teaches people, since this is a seminar about digital learning and all she does is post videos about twirling in fields and her toxic lifestyle. And then she stormed out crying.

I've seen a few stories in papers recently where people born and raised in villages in idyllic areas like Cornwall are priced out of their village by people buying second homes or landlords buying multiple properties. People like Ruby. Instead these villagers either have to inherit a home in their area or pay astronomical rent, or buy a house at inflated price just to stay where they have always lived, where their friends are, etc. It's disgusting.

Ruby really needs to learn how privileged she is because she really doesn't relate to 99% of her audience.

The same is happening in rural parts of Wales - English people are buying up cottages to use as holiday lets and second homes without allowing Welsh folk born and bred in the area to get on the property ladder. This is particularly heart-breaking for Welsh-speaking areas. Property is investment sure, but there should be restrictions on ownership and occupancy. The council tax alone on Ruby's property would bankrupt me, so renting without any opportunity to buy the place would just be unsustainable for most people.

"Proper jobs"? Plural? Ruby's mum neglects to mention that only one person in the household has a "proper job", and even then, playing Gordon Gekko and dodging the taxman stretches the definition quite a bit.

There's no evidence that any of those things happen in that house.

But at least we have a reason for why Ruby's house always looks like a squalid, festering swamp: Ruby's mum is so busy thinking about all the things that could potentially be keeping her from cleaning that she doesn't do anything at all.

Dear god, if Ruby learned her definition of feminism from her mother, no wonder she thinks that all things pink and sparkly are beneath her, and is determined to be not like other girls, she's been raised by someone who apparently doesn't quite understand feminism. I'm convinced that her mother just isn't very bright, this piece of writing is utter nonsense. My flat last year at uni didn't have a mop, and when I eventually got one holy shit I was over the moon. I was similarly excited when we got a new oven. Those things in no way negate my feminism. What the actual fuck??? Also once again, why don't they get a cleaner? Surely they can afford it, and they'd be providing employment to people who desperately need it at the moment.

I feel like you should be able to move past the mindset that there's something wrong with pink once you hit your 20s. I swear people of her generation are paranoid about girl colours and boy colours.

Thank you so much for backing me up on this because part of me was thinking I was seeing it wrong after I wrote that but yeah, there is no way she'd remember it in that much detail. It just makes me sad because it feels so wrong to me that she still feels guilty for that. She was a slightly wild child as little girls should be. There is nothing sadder to me than the sight of an anxious, tense and desperate to be dainty little girl who does not know how to let go and just be. It seems that whatever happened to Ruby between three and seven broke that in her and that is exactly as she is now and it breaks my heart a little bit.

I don't think she feels guilty about it but more like as a person she's such a boring goody two shoes she had no other stories of her being naughty Imagine your only story of being naughty is you as a 3 y.o. at kindergarten. What a sad life lol. Besides it's very visibly super exaggerated and it makes it even more cringe.

That whole description makes me roll my eyes so hard they might stick. "Dicken's takes us on a journey, introducing us to people, places, and things". So basically you are describing every fictional book ever. She does this all the time. Writes a bunch of non-descript nonsense, that proves she cares more about the appearance of being well-read, but just isn't. I still don't know how she gets firsts when she clearly lacks the ability to be articulate. I am not familiar with the book she is talking about, but her "review" didn't provide me with anything meaningful, and I still have no idea what the book is about. "Witty travel writing". Okay, meaning what exactly?

Personally I don't think she was ever very attached to either of their dogs. I remember the first time she showed herself interacting with the dogs on one of her videos and they seemed to keep their distance from her and didn't even wag their tails. It is pretty obvious she mostly ignored them and only got into walking/playing with them to copy Holly. Spending time with pets probably wasn't productive enough for her. I am sad for the dog, but really not going to get ridiculous about it. I didn't know it, I don't know the family, I have no association with their dogs, and her sad stance is performative, like everything else about her. At this point I distrust her on every level. I don't see why her viewers are so blind to all of this.

She never talks about truly important world events. No mentions of Haiti, Afghanistan, no mention of the gymnastics during the Olympics, regardless of those famous twins. She didn't mention the teams once during it and it ended over a week ago. For someone who reads the news headlines daily, I am surprised she never brings any awareness to her platform. This just is another example of her living in her bubble and disinterest in others, situations in the world, and only occasionally pick and chooses ones that may fit her "aesthetic" mood of the day. She never looks beyond her own stuck up nose. She is so self-centered and self-absorbed. She really has no feelings for others, but cries bully at every negative comment or scribbles down notes for any person who is remotely kind to her, and judges everyone! Her perspective on life is so twisted.
