Bit in bold: I once got a 90 on an essay. Utter fluke, though very welcome, and I obviously never managed anything close to it again, but you know, I didn't aim to.

It's probably a good thing Ruby hasn't hit those 80+ marks for an essay, because that would be her new personal benchmark going forward. Not saying you shouldn't strive to do well, but if you're doing excellent work (and her grades are excellent), there's really no need to push yourself to be exceptional instead.

The whole video was actually pretty depressing. She can't handle constructive criticism at all.
If she's getting consistent 75s even though she's borderline illiterate and her study techniques are insanely inefficient, I imagine she'd be getting the same marks or higher with a fraction of the effort if she just listened to feedback and worked efficiently.

I don't think she's ever come close to realising that busywork does not equal productivity. She fills her day with lots of activity that provides her with the illusion of being productive, but it's mostly redundant lists, notes, checklists and reminders that serve no value other than to fill time.

Naturally, it's not her fault if she gets a lower grade for misusing her time or ignoring instruction. It's the tutor's fault for not translating her sloppy work into the work of genius it was in her deluded mind.

I did English at Exeter and if I recall correctly the participation score was only a thing for second year modules (might have changed now)

Everyone hated it and it made the smugly clever and talkative seminar group members even more insufferable lol. My friends and I only ever got 60s/70s max when attending regularly and contributing - I dread to think what kind of participation would elicit an 85.
She'll just follow tutors home and loudly read textbooks aloud through their letterbox until they agree to give her the full mark to get her to leave.

So a 100% is solely reserved for God?
Of course. Why do you think Ruby expected a 100?

While we’re on university marks I would love to see even how Ruby adjusts to MA English Lit marking because at my uni the marking went from say Level 5 at undergraduate to Level 6 at MA level (I may have got the exact numbers one off bu you get the idea) and they essentially get rid of one level so it becomes:
Pass: 50-59
Merit: 60-69 (This is 65-69 at Oxford so you’re more often to get Pass than Merit)
Distinction: 70
So it would be easy for her mind to adjust to just aiming for 70s again but why I bring this up is because of those levels so, to over simplify, a 70 essay would get 60 at MA so you essentially have to expect to get “10 points lower” especially if you’re doing it full time where it’s just one year, everything counts right from the start - it would be interesting

addition: I’ve just thought how would she cope at PhD since you don’t get “marked” in numbers you literally only get comment/interview/oral feedback each term/year right up until your viva 😂😂😂

I was very annoyed so I made another one following my usual recipe and it turned out good this time. So all was well in the end :)
The story of the brownies had me on an emotional rollercoaster. Erimentha could never...
Glad it panned out :)

I really wonder what made Ruby want to lose weight initially, what triggered her potential ED? She used to be at a healthy weight and she seemed to enjoy a diversity of foods, I rewatched some of her vlogs in her first year at Uni and although she was already restricting (going vegan), she still bought a lot of food and ate decent portions. She didn't seem obsessed with tiny portions or with the same boring food like peas or yogurt bowl with a quarter of a banana...

I think the issue with her ability to take constructive criticism is that so much of her self worth and identity is tied up in academics. She’s not hearing that her argument was flawed or expressed incorrectly, she’s taking it as a personal attack. Doesn’t help that she’s probably spent her life being overly praised for every little thing up til now within her own little bubble - and anything that didn’t fit that bill was just nasty and jealous bullying.

I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt that it was a physical health condition causing this - or even something like emetophobia/ OCD (she has mentioned this before so not armchair diagnosing). In other words, a mental health condition that isn’t an ED specifically.

I entirely respect her decision to not disclose it if that was the case. However, KNOWING that her so many of her audience have raised red flags regarding an ED, the fact she didn’t outright say “I don’t have an ED” only furthers alarm bells for me. She could have dismissed it; instead, she says “there is no reason for you to be worried”, which is a textbook line used by other influencers including Eugenia Cooney. It’s also what I said to people often during my illness, including just before a hospital admission.

What’s more, even if she didn’t want to disclose specifics, she could have said “health reasons not related to an eating disorder.” Now, if it IS an eating disorder and she doesn’t want to disclose that - again, I would respect that decision, speaking as someone who had that very illness. Yet I would respect it (as I think has been mentioned) for Ruby BONES. Or even Ruby “Granger”, if her content was focused on studying, or even the occasional Victorian routine video.

I cannot respect it for content that includes: eating like a Victorian CHILD for a day; constant “outfits of the day” that never used to feature; a growing focus on food content; connecting with another YouTuber who is in ED RECOVERY, whose followers accordingly found and possibly followed Ruby.

The final nail in the proverbial coffin for me, apart from the fact she said her piece in reply to a comment (not a post), is the line “i have lost weight.” Within those 4 words, KNOWING that people who follow her have ideas. I am honestly quite speechless. I imagine reading that at my lowest point and seeing the thing I fear most spelt out.

Ps: As I said, if this is weight lost caused by a medical condition, as a public figure she does have a right to privacy. Yet not when it causes harm to others. And if she didn’t want to spell it out, simply saying “it’s not an ED” doesn’t feel like giving up a right to privacy?

I think sleep deprivation finally got the better of me, but I actually watched her "second year result" video and just wanted to add a (rather superficial) comment: Her hair just covering her completely just makes me feel all sorts of uncomfortable. I'm usually not one to be bothered by things touching your clothes (like sitting on your bed with your "outside clothes" is completely fine for my feeling of hygiene), but this just made me feel 🤢. Just imagining the state we have seen her house be in and then her hair just spilling everywhere.... There must be a whole semetary of flies in her hairs. 🦟🕷🕸

Yup! And even her more recent Pumpkin Productivity Insta posts have food pictures all over them. She's not just advertising her own unhealthy eating habits, she's directly associating small, unhealthy portions with productivity for all who view her posts. She knows exactly what she's doing, and it's inexcusable.

Guys really worried about her. If it’s weightlossndue to another health condition then she doesn’t have to say what but could say it’s not an an ED and I’m seeing a doctor to alleviate the understandable concerns of her fans, who want the best for her.

anyway, her latest outfit combos video with the sodding yellow primary school dress. Apparently layering random tit together is OOTD now?!

Her parents are dimwits and her sister never seems to take anything seriously.

Marfa, if you read her your sister needs Help it’s beyond “ruby being ruby” now!

Her comment about this being the last time she will comment on her weightloss is pathetic. Silly madam, not a care for the dozens of fans saying they are worried about her and are also being triggered. Clearly she also doesn’t care about her new friend Molly. Silly girl.

Re: grades, thanks for the recaps here, i’ll not watch it myself. She’s infuriating thinking she’s better than her lecturers. The more I see of Ruby’s behaviour the more I think she’s really not that clever, she just does extortionate hours to get the grades. If she spent the same amount of time as a typical student, but also balanced work and a social life I bet her grades would drop because she doesn’t seem that naturally clever without having to put lots of time in. I dunno, i just think she has the luxury of time to give to it. I wonder whether she asks Blakeney to compare grades.

She's so dumb and immature. I'm being harsh but that is no way to approach university. Your lecturers are there to teach you, if you think you already know everything what are you doing there?
She's infuriatingly ignorant and entitled.

What university taught me was how little I know. To be going into your third/fourth year and still think that you’ve got a lot to teach your lecturers is just … odd.

It's tough to speculate, but I imagine this past year hasn't done her any favours, and I wonder if staying at uni instead of running home would've helped curb her habits any. Moving back home during covid has really encouraged her worst tendencies and kicked her desire to regress into childhood into high gear. She's always had those tendencies, but being alone at home where her situation hasn't encouraged socialising and she hasn't had to act like a grown-up probably exacerbated her issues. She replaced her double bed with a single. She's dressed younger and younger. And I imagine losing weight has been part of her attempting to make herself look younger, as people here have speculated.

She probably believes she's the real teacher in the room. I can just picture her non-stop interrupting the lecture and trying to "correct" the teacher and "educate" the other students.

"Actually, I believe it's pronounced "poy-rot." Oh, Professor Tweedington, whatever would you do without me?"
"My job without interruption?"

I don’t think she’s ever been told no, until the Oxford rejection.
ETA: I bet her lecturers’ hearts sink when they open their inbox and see another email from her.

Unless she's ditched veganism for fish and chips, her new alternative to posting triggering images of her food is apparently to just show other people's food instead? Just stop posting images of food! It's not hard!

I imagine she will go to therapy sooner or later and the therapist will ask her what exactly she is avoiding by filling her days so much and she will break.

This is becoming really strange now... why post other peoples food if you’ve got none yourself?

And especially her being vegan lol like generally vegans don't go around posting pictures of other people's plates with dead animals in them

It feels like she’s panicking, and rather than just stopping posting photos of food altogether she’s decided that posting pictures of more food will somehow fix things. Like this is somehow evidence that she’s actually eating properly even though we know none of this is for her. Basically overcompensating. Ruby if you just stop posting pictures of food completely that will put an end to all this! You can eat what you want, but it will stop all speculation. It won’t be taken as evidence that you’re eating nothing, people will just forget about it.
