Those poor women! I'm so fucking angry!!

Maybe if the Dems had focused less on calling women 'birthing bodies', 'breeders' and all the other shite they come up with, they'd have been in more of a position to fight this!
Exactly! They want it so that this isn't a women's issue but a "people" issue. Well don't be surprised when people, i.e. men, make these decisions. After all, "men can get pregant too." 🙃

This is gutting...and unfortunately, they will be coming for same sex marriage next by the sounds of it. Will it ever stop?

Kitra has already posted about donating to planned parenthood. Not making a sell here at all or suggesting anything, but anything would help these organizations at this time.

I think birth control was another thing they wanted to limit or take away and I will fight hell and high water for that one. It isn't needed for the actual birth control portion, but I was absolutely miserable every month and in incredible pain, which taking birth control has helped tremendously.

This is like under the former president. Not getting political either, but it seemed like every day we woke up to some type of bad news during that time frame
Yes they will go after same sex marriage and birth control 😡😡😡. I’m so mad.

Are you able to talk for 'old fashioned same sex attracted homosexuals'. Baring in mind your argument is about language that is an incredibly odd and insulting phrase to use about gay men

You don't actually have a credible argument. Just deflection and doubling down

Anyway RW religious people took the rights of women in the US yesterday. .not sure there are any trans people on the SC?
Blocked. You are here to deflect and police our language. I shall not hear it anymore.

to add: i also hate the “well you can put the baby up for adoption” response.

why should a woman carry a child she does not want for nine months, with the discomfort and danger of pregnancy, to then go through the pain and danger of giving birth to that child - to then pass it over to the wonderful us care system?!

none of these people live in any semblance of the “real” world and i really fear for what they’ll go after next.

interesting that justice thomas left “loving” off the list of bills he plans to attack though - because it’s the one that impacts him directly! they only care about themselves.

America, the new Afghanistan 😶

My young adult Christian Orthodox son was shocked yesterday when I told him that I had an unwanted pregnancy at age 40. I detailed all the different ways our lives would have been ruined if I'd had a third child. Thankfully, I lost it early on, but it could have been very different, and I'd have been one of those women he'd be condemning right now. He's directly benefitted from a pregnancy not continuing and he took that on board. I also explained to him that this ruling will cause countless deaths and ruined lives. Reproduction is womens business and we need full control. Nothing to do with anyone else. Nothing to do with men whatsoever. Women have been 'dealing with' their reproductive issues since humans began. It's a messy business, but it's our business.

I hope they can get abortion pills out to women. This seems like an easier and safer option.

This was made a trans issue years ago. And who do you think you are to tell me what I can and can't comment about? You're not a moderator. Typical of TRAs though, forever trying to police everyone else's language.
Trans women are not affected by this in any way. Can’t we keep the focus on the women who are?

amazing, isn't it, that all this deeply religious people have somehow convinced themselves that their kind, forgiving, loving god would want women to feel frightened, to unnecessarily put their lives at risk and for millions of unwanted babies to be brought into the world?
People were saying that in some religions like Judaism and Islam women are permitted to have an abortion under various reasons so if the federal states deny those women abortion then they are interfering with the right to religious freedom.
It’s all very backwards and outdated thinking.

It is frightening to think of the impending increase in babies being born and abandoned and more up for adoption. Then the extra pressure on school places, employment, medical and benefit support. The emotional and mental impact on people in that situation will be devastating 😔

It's terrifying ! It's scary how America is slowly becoming like the handmaids tale..

The lgbt community are 110% next to get hit. Won't be allowed get married etc 🙄

I came across the gender discussion thread on here tonight. Cant believe it's allowed on here, the transphobic comments are horrific and it's all very one sided ? But I suppose it's a forum
It really isn't. Most forums only let the other side have a voice, tattle let the silent majority also have a voice.

People are genuinely worried about what is going on with our children and also with women's spaces .. I've only posted on that thread once but read it here and there. No one absolutely no one has any problems with trans who actually transition or will be transitioning ( unless they are children)

Why bring trans into this? It is not the point is it?
Look, ultimately we are on the same side. I get the feeling you haven't been paying attention in recent years. Many would call you a bigot by calling this a women's rights issue (which I 100% agree with you that it is). I support trans rights, up until they clash with women's rights - which they do.

It will be scary if the red states in the US introduce something akin to what Poland have. They have introduced a 'pregnancy register' which will be essentially used to track pregnant woman.

Just dipping in to say that if anyone in the US here needs help, Women on Web can help. These doctors have performed abortions on a boat in the sea, so they’ve seen it all: https://www.womenonweb.org/
Share it, save it, follow them on social.

I went on birth control in my late teens to help regulate my period. One time I was picking up my refill and was shocked by the price. Insurance refused to cover it because they thought it was to prevent pregnancy. My doctor had to write another prescription and note it was for periods to satisfy insurance which is a whole different topic.

This makes me worried for a likely ban on birth control next. It’s used for many different reasons in addition to pregnancy prevention. Lots of women have heavy/intense periods and birth control helps them to function every month.

What about medications that could potentially cause birth defects or harm to a fetus? Remember when Accutane and the like were popular for severe acne treatment? Women are heavily encouraged if not required to be on birth control while taking those types of medications.

This is all about control - control over women. If some of the mass shooters in the US were women or girls I actually think they would bring in gun control just to stop them.
lettersofnote just posted this section of a speech made by nora ephron 20+ years ago, all of it remains true re the treatment of women, it even names the very same judge who helped push this through:

Why did you get pregnant if you didn’t want a baby? At the age of 40 you should have known how to prevent pregnancy.

It is an abortion issue...You are embarrassing yourself

I would add that there are many many links with anti trans movements with the right wing religious anti abortion movements.

Step away or shout out for womens reproductive rights or you are literally anti women

I’m so angry about this. Men telling women what to do with their own bodies. It’s barbaric and woman hating.

It’s also not about the sanctity of life AT ALL. In a country where people in those same states are put to death and mentally unwell people are able to acquire military grade assault rifles.
While I'm furious at the men who allowed Roe v Wade to be overturned, I am beyond disappointed and disgusted in the women who are involved. Like you and most people here have said, this is not pro-life, not pro-baby. it is pro-control. It is anti-women. Pro-choice is exactly that; it is a CHOICE whether you want to continue your pregnancy or not. It is a CHOICE whether or not you want to save your life if you're having complications that can literally kill you. I am sick of people using their religion as a shield to restrict other's peoples body autonomy. Stop using religion as an excuse to do abhorrent things. And while we're at it, that religious shield is Christianity. As if the US Supreme Court gives a damn about any other religious groups.
