Yes they will go after same sex marriage and birth control 😡😡😡. I’m so mad.
Yes, that is actually part of their master plan. Roe opens the gate. You can't be pro life and be against funding prenatal care, childcare, expanding medicaid so the poor children can get medical care, and most of all you don't get to say one fucking anti gun control word with re Uvalde. Pro life my ass.

Women outnumber men in this nation. WTF? Get out and vote in November before they take more rights away from us. Ok I'll step off my soap box now. ✌

A disgraceful decision. How anyone can think it's right to tell a woman what to do with her own body is beyond me.

That country continues to go backwards.

As the OP says, they'll be coming for gay marriage and contraception next. It's a scary time to be an American.

Not trying to derail from Roe v Wade but up until 2020, N.Ireland did not have the same abortion rights as the rest of the UK and even now today there is not a fully funded service here. And we currently dont have a sitting govt. Travelling for abortions, like many women in the US have to and as many women in NI have had to, presents so many issues.
I don’t think that’s derailing at all. I’m so glad you said this, because I stupidly asked “imagine this in the UK”, but this is an issue here. Thank you for pulling me up on this. It‘s so worrying to think about the repercussions.

Absolutely dreadful decision. So sick of people arguing over states vs federal decisions - women know what is best for their bodies. They are the only ones who need to make calls on this, it should be for no govt to decide.

Marriage equality is 100% next on the chopping block.

Ladies Ladies.....

What's the problem here?

I saw the ruling - and all the celebrations by checks notes..... middle aged white dudes....... you know the ones - with the undeniable right to carry guns anywhere and everywhere since they can't walk around with their penis out.

And yes - you are 100% correct - that's not where they are stopping. I miss the days when miserable piece of shit assholes had to at least pretend and hide that shit - now they can say that this out in the open - in legal rulings no less.

No reproductive rights for you - guns and boner pills for me!!!!

It's terrifying ! It's scary how America is slowly becoming like the handmaids tale..

The lgbt community are 110% next to get hit. Won't be allowed get married etc 🙄

I came across the gender discussion thread on here tonight. Cant believe it's allowed on here, the transphobic comments are horrific and it's all very one sided ? But I suppose it's a forum
The comments aren't transphobic. You're welcome to join the discussion to make it more of a debate. But please don't just come in and call us all TERFS and leave without adding anything to the discussion.

We are all very open to debate but "the other side" don't ever provide legitimate sources and just tell us we are wrong

I was trying to reason with my pro-life American uncle the other day and there's no getting through to him. He (and the rest of the pro-birthers) need only look at what happened here in Ireland. Until 2018, women in Ireland continued to suffer (and in some cases, die) due to a lack of access to legal and safe abortion. I had a friend who was the victim of rape, have to travel to England alone and pay £500 to terminate her unwanted pregnancy. I've had friends in university take black-market pills and be left without any medical support due to the illegality of it. And what's worse is, Ireland is a tiny island of 4 million. I can't imagine what this will look like in a vastly bigger country. Scary times to be a woman.

It shouldnt be up to any government bodies though. Women everywhere should be able to access abortion. Regardless of where they live.

Should it come down to a state by state basis to allow say organ transplants? There is no other medical procedure that is broken down like this surely?

If you dont like abortion, dont have one 🤷‍♀️ its really that simple. Pro choice is not pro abortion. I think thats the difference, I want people to have the choice regardless of what decision I would make myself if I was to find myself unexpectedly pregnant.

The choice should lie solely with the individual.

I lived in Texas for a year and my heart absolutely breaks for all my friends there. Can’t believe they have made such a huge step in the wrong direction.
It’s disgusting that this not only affects women who simply want to abort for what ever reason but also those who medically need it to survive.
How can this be ok? That’s what baffles me most how can a medically necessary procedure be forbidden?

I’m disgusted at how many men there are celebrating this decision. No man has any right to tell a woman what she can and can’t do with her body. Our bodies, our choice. Fuck off with your celebrating. You will never have to go through the shit that we do. Periods, pregnancy, childbirth, menopause etc. Your life as a man will infinitely be easier.

Handmaids Tale comes to mind with this. Reading comments on the DM and I'm so angry at the amount of "well if women stopped sleeping with randoms" and "maybe women will think twice before opening their legs" they seem to forget that it takes two!🙄🤬
Give it six months and you'll have them complaining about women being prudish and fridgid for no longer partaking in hookup culture.

Turning back the clock on women's rights... who'd have thought the US and Afghanistan would have so much in common in 2022?

It’s absolutely tragic what’s going on.

Whether we agree with abortion or not - it’s going to happen, so the best thing to do is regulate it and keep it safe. I can’t comprehend why anyone feels their views should be forced on others, particularly when their lives are at risk. I would never get an abortion myself unless my life was at risk, but I will never ever take away or judge anyone who chooses abortion for any reason whatsoever. It’s their body and therefore their choice! No one else’s business. I’m certain anyone who makes that difficult choice is going through enough without anyone else’s unwanted input. It must always be the woman’s choice. Taking away that choice isn’t “pro life” either if it risks the life of the woman and the baby when they are forced to take matters into their own hands.

This isn’t only happening in America. In Northern Ireland where I live people are STILL having to travel to other parts of the U.K. typically flying to England to have abortions because even though the law was recently changed it hasn’t been put into practice. Making an already traumatising experience even more traumatic being away from home and familiar surroundings.

The erasure of women and faux offence and outrage at all things woman has most certainly led to these decisions.

I witnessed a woman on twitter today saying this takes away mens rights too because they might want the abortion. Like we seriously can’t even be outraged about this without someone chirping in “well what about men”.

This is all about control - control over women. If some of the mass shooters in the US were women or girls I actually think they would bring in gun control just to stop them.

I would like to add any anti trans person who hijackes the conversations re womens right to abortion to use their view that distracts from the rights of women to have abortions should be ignored

Oh my. Happy to dicuss that. But not the time or place. Distraction is what you are doing

If you have had an abortion or or thinking of one. I hope you are ok and don't feel worried or triggered xx
You are the ONLY one to mention transpeple.

The rest of us were talking about the erasure of women's language.
