Firstly let me say Rhiannon is clearly a great Mum and Delilah seems a very well-rounded, well-mannered child.

But. The tiling vlog was SO LONG AND BORING. I lost count of the times I forwarded it, fair enough to show the progress of the project but a little editing wouldn't go amiss. The same with baking cookies with Delilah and rearranging her kitchen drawer - I'd much rather a five-minute sped-up vlog than stretching the content out so much.:sleep::sleep:

I can't help but feeling like everything Rhiannon does is purely for the aesthetic and to fit a certain mould/give Delilah a picture-perfect childhood. And she drinks SO MUCH COFFEE. NO WONDER SHE HAS ANXIETY.

Finally. It's ARKET not ARKIT. There ends my rant.
Always the Coffee!! She always tried to say it made to difference to Delian when she was small/breastfeeding but D was a really fussy baby. She always says oh it’s decaf but I’m not so sure, one or two maybe but I’d put money on the fact the others are not.

Re the start her latest vlog. It really doesn't sit right with me how youtubers film (and monetise) their kids in general, but especially when they're in bed. It just seems like too intimate and private a moment to share with the whole internet. When she's older, D might really hate and be upset/embarrassed by the fact that all these personal moments right from her birth have been shared with millions of strangers. Some memories you just want to keep between you and your loved ones, and I doubt many people would want their whole childhoods, including embarrassing and personal moments, shared online. I know I'd feel mortified!

compared to some parent vloggers, rhinannon isnt so bad

I do get where youre coming from, when I have kids I've already said they're not being posted online

Personally I choose not to show my children online on Facebook or Instagram. I think vlogging has blurred the lines between what is acceptable to share & what isn’t. Rhiannon isn’t as bad as some vloggers out there, Delilah isn’t always the main focus of her vlogs unless it’s the weekend vlog, even less so now she is at school. I think Rhiannon will remove the vlogs as Delilah gets older.

I find it really difficult to understand how they find it so easy to upload stuff of their kids online and then I think how lovely it would be to see a home video of me and my parents when I was a child. Not a special event, just a normal day. It seems that it can’t be that bad :/

Sure, me too - home videos are lovely. As Rhiannon's are. But I don't think they should be shared with the world when they include personal moments of young children. Once you upload something, you lose control over it - other people can save and download it, so even if you later delete it it will still be out there.

Yeah I see your point about loosing control over it. Very worrying.

I'm watching the latest vlog and have enjoyed this month's vlogs, but I just have to ask - has she explained why they've taken the extractor fan down? I don't live in my own home (I'm a student) so can't be sure, but is an extractor fan not necessary?
I cringed when they took it out - last year I paid someone to put on in my house! I hope they put something back in to suck out the cooking smells and steam.

probably because it doesnt fit the 'aesthetic'

she has a toilet roll holder in the shape of a cloud for crying out loud

My anxiety improved tremendously when I cut out coffee including decaf. The thought of it now just makes me feel jittery. Maybe I’m just more sensitive to caffeine as even regular tea could make me feel a bit off if I had a few cups close together in winter months. I’m fine with decaf tea.

I too wish the tiles went up further. It creates such a sharp line. Also noticed she said she didn’t recommend painting the walls with Matt emulsion because it’s not scrubbable. Then she repainted the wall with the same paint so she’s not doing herself any favors. I know she already had it on hand but she’s going to run into the same problem later on.

I do get that it is her job, but no way would Rhiannon use tinned Apple pie filling if it wasn’t sponsored 🤣

I know right? I don’t mind ADs at all as I usually just swipe on by but she never ever does genuine ADs which she is interested in. This is the girl that made her own oat milk once. It is not hard to stew apples for apple pie! Just like all the Tesco Ads, she’s done one for their scan & shop then another for their feed your family for £25 box. In her vlogs I have NEVER seen her in a Tesco! That being said, the ADs must be fleeting if she’s reduced to taking opportunities she wouldn’t ever consider engaging with.

She mentioned they are re-financing themortgage. I know rates are so low right now but they have not been in the house that long. Maybe they got a high rate the first time. I'm not from the UK so I don't know about the mortgage process over there. Doug is on a zero hours contract which I guess is common in the construction industry? Rhiannon is (technically) self-employed and very part time in terms of hours. How do they prove that they have a steady income?

I think it’s surprisingly common to remortgage around this time. I know when we first purchased our house we had a fixed rate for 2 years, then when that 2 years was up we researched what was the best deal which happened to be fixing again for another 2. We’re about to fix for another 4 as now that’s the better deal & given Covid and my little girl just starting a great primary school we’ve decided we’ll stay in our current house a bit longer than planned. Rates will vary so much depending on personal circumstances. I guess Doug being on Zero hours and Rhiannon being self employed it makes them a bit more higher risk and maybe had a rate to reflect that. Saying that they may have had a bigger deposit or taken the mortgage out over a longer term. Any income is easily proved with pay slips, bank statements and HMRC documents. They must have been fairly fortunate to borrow given their circumstances but I’m sure a specialised mortgage advisor/broker could have done this quite easily for them.

Generally with self employed people in the UK, generally they will look at your turnover and/or take an accountants statement for the last two years stating how much you have earned. At least, that's how we got our mortgage.
