There’s no way alfie could ever attend a specialist school. My son attends one, he’s severely autistic and non verbal and it took years to get him a space. There’s a huge shortage of specialist placements all across the country. A friend of mine is still waiting and her daughter is 10 & the mainstream she’s at has been saying for years that they can’t meet her needs and she needs to be placed somewhere that can. As someone else said, you’d need an EHCP which I highly doubt he has. Alfie may be behind in his learning but that doesn’t warrant going to a specialist school. Plus they don’t follow a curriculum like mainstream schools do. My son is 5 so he’s still very young but they don’t do things like maths or English etc, no learning how to write or read because the children just cant. They do cooking, hands on activities like sensory play, musical play etc. the children at these schools have profound, complex needs and alfie will never fit that, they can’t read, they can’t write, they don’t know simple shapes or colours, some of them have co-existing physical disabilities, some of them can’t talk and have little to no understanding of anything, these children need very high levels of support and alfie wouldn’t fit in to that environment. Sorry but it really irks me when people say he needs to go to a special school.

Imagine the phone call Saturday afternoon -
Begs - (screaming and crying) You've got to come home NOW, I'm in A&E with your son, this is serious Steve I need you home now on the first flight.
Young Alfie taking it all in shaking and panicking thinking he's worse than he is , how can you of been a mum for ten years and not learn the most important thing is to keep calm for there sake, even if you're not in control you fake it for there sake .
She's used Alfie to guilt trip Steve 100%

I'm pretty rubbish re rent/mortgage stuff - imho i reckon the parents have pulled the reins in and told them they need to support themselves. No more handouts, or supporting financially. Steve's sister may have been a drain on the parents too - they've probably had enough! They are coming up to retirement age, and need/want the money for themselves.
I don't care what they have bought, it will still be a
show, but at least the kids (we hope) shall be in a warm home. I've never believed this home has been warm apart from the living room.
Steve is going to be going out for drinks and clubbing - you just know it! We'll get more fanny dancing, and twerking in the new kitchen. She'll still be constantly
, every fuckin month it will be "rinse/repeat".
I hope she has to get a job - anything that brings her right back down flat on her padded pants.
I hope the Boys get to see the grandparents often - that both sets of grandparents start to bring some change to how the Boys especially are treated. That the new school says a "no way" to the term time holidays, Alfies gets extra support. They find a local dentist and optician. Roma gets some gloves before next October.
Neither of them are doing this for the kids - it's because they've had to - whatever they've managed to buy/rent they are still a pair of utter twats, who won't change and don't care.
As for Roma standing on the seat in Wetherspoons and making out she understands what she says - I'm
- there was no trying to help her, show her a photo of some breakfast and ask her to point, no trying to educate at all. It's because she can't - the children are just an "add on" to her life. She can't educate them, because she has no means to educate herself. When I was a young girl, we had a few kids like her at school - slow . Steve isn't much brighter.
We live coastal, but can only see the sea far away in the distance from our next door neighbours garden.... I'm a towny/city girl and living near the sea for however lovely it is, it's very different - the winters can be hard especially. I cant see her thinking it's all wonderful. If they have good weather that way, through the summer than great but she will need to start picking up the dog for a start.
I was thinking yesterday - the last time they were in Tenners and they met up with that couple and his parents were there - Alfie and Woody didn't know how to talk with them - they are really going to be thrown into the deep end with people around - it will soon get noticed how Alfie is.
