I find it hard to believe most people here would say no to €5k of orthodontic treatment their child needed if offered it for free, who knows I completely agree children are being exploited by these instahuns, there’s needs to be laws to protect children because these parents won’t do it. I personally absolutely never post my child to sm. But that’s a different thing to being outraged cos there’s people on waiting lists and Rachel’s child got her braces for free. If anything this collab takes this child off the HSE list, freeing up a space for someone else. At the end of the day it’s a private clinic, private business and they obviously think this collab will be worthwhile for them or they wouldn’t be doing it. How many here would have heard of that clinic if they took out an ad in a Sunday broadsheet instead?

That dental clinic gains nothing from gifting free treatment to gorry. Hes just hoping to gain himself a few followers because her followers sure as hell won't be rushing to use him for orthodontics.
There are no before photos, no explanation of the treatment process or system used, planned outcomes etc, it wasn't even marked as an ad. Just marked as collab which frankly could mean anything.
I think he's wanting the insta followers more than anything else. How sad using a minor and exploiting her, she can't even consent to her image and medical history being shown to the public. Disgraceful and unprofessional.

It’ll never not be sad that Daniel is gone but there is something about Rachel as a person that I find very contrived and manipulative. That’s not to take away from her grief at all, but I just can’t connect with her on any level ever, even when she’s seemingly crying her heart out. Perhaps that’s to do with me, who knows. I needed braces all through my teens and early 20s. Defo affected my confidence with my closed mouth smiling … and the amount of people that feel the need to shout at you would you not open your mouth to smile. Anyway i waited til I got my degree and had worked for a year to pay for them myself. God help the youth of today who have no concept of having to work for anything. Some Mother you are, you should be ASHAMED of yourself, putting your holidays first, and letting your child wait for treatment, when you could have afforded the treatment.

Basically you had no problem handing out money for a holiday that lasted 2 weeks, but your child’s teeth that will last a lifetime, CAN WAIT.

So it’s ok to let the child’s “confidence” suffer, because of there teeth, once you get you holiday.

My son is an intelligent human being, I discussed this at length with him every year, let him decide if he wanted the braces or hold out another year. He chose the holiday. His teeth never bothered him, didn't affect his confidence. They weren't even that bad to begin with, it was just one side tooth that was affected so I was as surprised as he was that he qualified.
But you crack on there with the judgement of my parenting based on one post.

I had to fork out over 4 grand for my braces, had to pay monthly to afford them, whilst paying a mortgage and bills etc. She has no shame. First time posting,, mainly as I'm so infuriated by this. Its not right to be doing a collab for your child's treatment!. I can't imagine it's even legal, as you'd be signing a contract between 2 businesses, I don't see how a child could benefit from that business agreement but maybe I'm wrong. That collab has hit a new low in my eyes and I'll be unfollowing Rachel. It's all money grabbing now at this stage and those poor kids being plastered all over social.

@shutthefrontdoor (I’m not going to quote your post just in the interest of space cos it’s long) I still don’t get it, of course she is going to take the freebie, most people here would. I paid €5.5k for my own braces, if my orthodontist has offered me a discount I absolutely would have taken it even though I could afford to pay it myself. That is the business she is in, getting paid for exposure or paid in kind in this case. She’s happy enough to include the kids in that, absolutely wouldn’t be for me but currently there’s nothing to stop her. The child did need braces too, Kelly Fitz-whatever her surname is had a similar collab recently and that child’s teeth looked perfect (to the untrained eye anyway). It’s just marketing, it’s not depriving anyone else’s child of treatment. Don’t agree with it then vote with your feet and don’t give this clinic your business.

I don’t think most people here would take the freebie actually if they had the means to pay! I would be mortified if I was her. Influencers are just a different breed aren’t they. I’m not gonna fall out with you over it, I get what you’re saying. True, she isn’t depriving anyone else’s child of treatment but people would have more respect for the orthodontist if he fitted a child waiting YEARS for braces and posted about it. Not Rachel Gorry’s child who happens to be the child of an influencer and is in 5th class. There are kids ten years older than her waiting for theirs. People here would also have more respect for Rachel if she was more selective in what she accepted and didn’t sell her soul & her children’s privacy for free stuff..

What bothers me the most about this and I see it with many other Influencers is their kids being used for financial gain. I have no ill will against anyone, I am not a troll or abusive towards any other person. But as a mother , I don’t know if these mums understand how detrimental it is to be using their kids like this. Most of these mums don’t have teenagers, they don’t understand yet how these kinda posts can affect their kids in the future. I have a 17 and an 11 year old and they are extremely protective of their image and have told me very clearly that they do not want to be on my Facebook or insta and that’s only family and close friends, never mind thousands of strangers and weirdos! I just feel sad for these kids who are being used as content for their parents social media outlets. It’s wrong on every level.
