Princess Charlene of Monaco

Prince Albert is a prize bleep. Im sure many people in Monaco think it even if they don't have the nerve to say it.
She doesn't ever appear to have been happy with him.
I don't think she has cancer, I do think she's deeply troubled and I wonder if her being in SA was her leaving him.
If she was seriously ill, I'm sure they would announce something rather than have the world and his wife assume that she can't stand her cheating lump of a husband and has fled the country rather than be with him.
I'm sure we will hear someday. I just hope for her sake that she has the support that she needs and can have all of the medical help she needs for whatever ails her

Monaco princes have long been extremely generous to their people. We pay no tax, have affordable housing in a country in which we otherwise wouldn’t be able to live, are guaranteed a job and generally are afforded many privileges. Most people are very grateful for all of this and therefore refrain from saying anything untoward against the prince’s private life. Doesn’t mean that we don’t have an opinion, but let’s say our gratitude affords him our discretion on private matters, mostly.

How does he get the money to do all this? Is it just that the family is historically very rich and it just compounds itself over time? Or do you have to pay to be resident in Monaco in the first place?

Monaco is wealthy from tourism, real estate and casinos. All the VAT derived from that funds housing, healthcare etc.

So because they provide affordable housing, people keep quiet about the things that he does and the life that he leads.
Everything and everyone has a price and its people like him who ultimately benefit.
Should gratitude afford discretion when people behave abysmally? Can he do what he likes and its always ok as no one will speak out publically?
I'm interested to know how far this gratitude and discretion would extend, where would the line be? Immoral is fine but illegal not? I personally feel that he is a disgrace for a man and shouldn't be held in high regard just because he has money and can pay for peoples approval.
I dont believe matters are private when he should be a good example to others as part of his position in life.
Prince Andrew for example, he will be forever stained now that there are allegations against him. He portrays the perfect father/partner/ex husband/son yet we are now hearing about his (alleged)seedy murky lifestyle and companions. He is no longer held in high regard by anyone and rightly so

I suspect we don’t know the half of it. And I never said I held him in high regard.
Additionally, it’s difficult to compare what is happening in the UK with Princess Andrew and in Monaco with Prince Albert. The former is a suspected pedalo and the latter is not. Also, you can’t compare how easy it is to be vocal in a country of 60 million inhabitants and one of 40,000. So, whilst people have an opinion of the individual concerned, being vocal would probably come at a price.

Prince Albert is very unattractive for a child of Grace Kelly's.

Has anyone ever seen a photo of Charlene looking happy? She even looks vaguely miserable in her pre-Albert days.
I once saw a pic of her happy but that was with 50 cent not her family. Here it is:

I suspect that she is very, very mentally unwell. She has made no secret of being unhappy over the years so it may have taken its toll. I personally think it’s a mental breakdown or mental illness of some kind.

I hate to bring her up, but its striking how clearly unhappy Charlene is in so many official situations, where as meghan markle has never looked close to anything like it, despite her claims.
Meghan Markle has her husband unlike Charlene who doesn't seem to have anyone. Also there are plenty of people who seem like the happiest people on the outside who end up committing suicide.

She looks just as uncomfortable in that picture than any of the others to me.
She looks buzzed and happy to me. I hope she recovers from whatever she's dealing with at the minute.

Monaco is full of Tax exiles though. They probably do far worse than Albert. How many of them would care less about whatever dodgy dealings he does? Philip Green is sitting there on his yacht for example while his former employees pensions are flushed down the toilet. He's hardly going to be getting into a moral outrage over Albert shagging around!

You hit the nail on the head. It’s full of tax exiles, and about 9000 nationals who are very normal people in an abnormal and hedonistic country.

I'm talking about those who allegedly keep quiet because they are so grateful that he ensures they have affordable housing as stated further up the post.
I would think he is shady as can be and womanising is probably the least of his doings.
I dont think Phillip green and co give 2 shits about anyone other than themselves.
I dont envy Charlene at all. Something is desperately wrong and she's separated from her children. I really feel for her

They shouldn't turn a blind eye but, if as the previous poster said, if there at only 9000 native residents and the rest are tax exiles, the answer to any questions would probably be ' Au Revoir, see you when I visit France. Enjoy paying tax and good luck finding a job!' The majority of residents have moved there precisely because they couldn't give 2 shits about anyone but themselves.

And those normal 9000 are vital to sustain the economy, by doing the ordinary jobs which sustain the tourism industry. Why would they bite the hand which feeds them - Prince Albert is really like the CEO of Monaco Inc except that he controls 100% of the shares. He decides who gets residency and citizenship. The Grimaldi family have run the place for centuries as benevolent dictators. Keeping that gig going is not an easy thing. One can be outraged by his personal behaviour but he’s not the only guy to have several baby mommas and a miserable wife. Charlene chose the role and yes is to be pitied and empathised with, but the damage is done. Hopefully she finds a peaceful way back to health.

I 100% agree ... And the term benevolent dictator is right: keep them sweet by enabling them affordable housing so that they can live in their own country. Were it not for this, there would be next to no nationals left in Monaco. We would simply not be able to afford it. The more outspoken ones inevitably run into problems. Let's just say it's better to be discreet about your opinions of what goes on here.

Prince Albert hosted a gala event in Monaco this week, accompanied by Princess Caroline (who appears to be doing double duty as stand-in first lady of Monaco and doting aunt in Charlene's absence) and Sharon Stone.

Charlene posted a rather cryptic photo and caption on her Instagram:

This was obviously taken some time ago. Charlene is wearing the Ocean Tiara, a wedding gift from Albert; she never wears tiaras though.

She looks skeletal here. She's wearing heavier clothes but just look at her wrists and head. It's worrying. I've only had one sinus operation but it seems that she's having a lot of them, even with an infection.
