I wonder how he's coping on remand? I can't find which prison he's in but I saw that McGowan was in Frankland, which is known as Monster Mansion, along with Wakefield.
I reckon he's looking at 18 years minimum, if he's found guilty, as that is what the murderers of both Leiland James Corkhill and Elsie Scully Hicks got, and they are very similar cases, in fact this case is worse because of the SA.
Regarding McGowan, I really don't know if he'll be found guilty, in those other cases, the husbands were not found guilty of allowing the deaths.
In Elsie's case, I'm not even sure if the husband was charged with anything?

if he’s found guilty would he not get a whole life order?

JV took the trousers to the police, he said Preston was wearing them the day he died. JV said he'd had put them in the laundry basket and they'd gone mouldy by the time JV and JFM were allowed back into the house.

They tested the bath and found that it didn’t leak this completely fucks a significant part of his story as there should have been water still in the bath at the time the police went to the house and he’d already confirmed that he didn’t drain the tub nor did John have time.

Didn't he say he fixed the leak that morning though with the glue? Sure they said plastic was found in the bath wonder what that was aswell

Prosecution is always first with evidence and witnesses. So we do hear the most damning at the start. Then it’s down to the defence to argue before jury go to deliberations.
No, it’s not unusual to release footage once it’s been shown in court for a high profile case.

Can anyone ELI5 please. The triall is estimated to last 6 to 6 weeks. Is it likely to follow a set format? 2 weeks in and it’s harrowing already so I’m wondering what will come out and when.

Also, I’m surprised at the footage that has already been released. Is this more than usual? It feels it to me and makes me wonder if we are moving towards the American way of allowing cameras im court rooms

I imagine the forensic experts are agreeing to this because, if argued by the prosecution, it could be enough to insert reasonable doubt. So i am hoping that any further DNA evidence is clear cut

Fwiw I didn't read your comment that way. The wording was sloppy in part but I agree mostly with the sentiment. I think the first part about being held in high regard is true, and the SW IS a prime example of that. I don't blame the hospital staff, they repeatedly raised issues, the SW whitewashed these issues.
I'm not sure if it was anything to do with their being gay men or just the general air of respectability they gave off, but she definitely wasn't seeing the wood for the trees.

Did the hospital raise issues? they reported the attendances (it’s an automatic alert for looked after kids) but my understanding was they reported no concerns with the hospital attendances. i.e no reports of a non accidental injury or concern over repeated attendances. I think that’s what I’ve read.

I don't think so. Heterosexual and homosexual couples are subject to the same assessment process. Discrimination- positive or negative is not allowed under equality law.

I have 2 female friends who are married and have adopted children. Their youngest has been in their care since she was 10 months old. 3 months after her third birthday, it went to court and they formally adopted her.

And this bit makes me think if the photos shows Preston drooling, and the swab was taken from the same spot, it strengthens the dna evidence as being more sinister?
