Injuries 'highly indicative of sexual trauma', jury told
Dr Gifford says she was given information from the post mortem by Dr Alison Armour and images taken from hospital at the time Preston died.
She said injuries to Preston’s pelvic organs were highly indicative of sexual trauma.
"I would expect him to look extremely unwell, in a critical condition from the time this occurred," she added.
Signs would be a child looking very unwell, with breathing in distress and possible swelling to the tummy, adds the doctor. She says there would also be vomiting, diarrhoea and collapse resulting from the types of injuries found in Preston.

He can blame bruises on clumsiness and he can try and claim vomit caused “breathing difficulties” and tubes caused the throat bruising but what on earth can he blame this on? Vile.
It’s interesting she mentioned swollen tummy as JV said Preston had a swollen tummy (but claimed he thought it was from swallowing water).

guys. Absolute guys. His poor body subjected to this horrific abuse for the sexual gratification of these two monsters. It's just beyond comprehension.

I imagine JMF has plead not guilty so he can try and pretend he didn't know anything about it. JV is probably so he can just listen to it back.

Maybe it’s just the messages that started when JMF went back to work? Also, horrible to think it but maybe JV didn’t do as extreme abuse when they were both there because he had someone else to do things to, iyswim. I feel grubby even going over it in my mind.
Yeah it’s possible a few things can be true. JMF was involved in some of the abuse but JV was far more aggressive when left alone with Preston. I think he had a lot of anger towards Preston in addition to everything else.

Or JMF was just more intelligent and knew not to record anything.

You just reminded me that I saw a comment on Facebook saying that JV's brother is high up in the police 😲
Also, some comments from three or four ex pupils saying that they had always thought JV was a wrong un.
It's funny because when I was jn secondary school, there was a priest who served my school. He was there all the years I was there and I would regularly attend church with my parents. Lots of people liked him but I could never warm to him- my mum couldn't either.
Anyway, a few years after I left secondary school it came to light that he was a pdf. He had been abusing little boys for years and years. The stories that came out were shocking. Sometimes our gut instincts are spot on and it's so important to always listen to it. ....I bet alot of people are thinking something was always off with him

I completely agree. When I was growing up ‘Jim’ll Fix It’ was a Saturday night TV staple but my Mum wouldn’t watch it and would leave the room (which was unusual as she usually stay in the room all evening and just knit if she wasn’t interested in the programme. She said that Jimmy Saville made her skin crawl

I am beginning to think JMF could be just as dangerous as JV. Like you say, he could just be cleverer and better at hiding it.

I read that a swollen tummy can happen from a perforated bowel as well

It will be so interesting to hear what JV's ex pupils have to say, when this is all over.
I can't get over how many of his teaching colleagues liked him and were friends with him.

I feel like this pair of monsters are almost worse than Ian Watkins in a way. Of course it's all horrifying, but I'm sure these two jumped through all the hoops of adopting simply so they had an infant to abuse. I just cannot imagine anyone, even a disgusting piece of tit PDF, going from nothing to abusing and raping a baby to death in just 4 months, so it MUST be premeditated, and as others have said it could have even been the plan to give Preston up as a "failed adoption" before he could talk and tell anyone, hence why JV was making such a song and dance about how difficult he was to everyone around him. He probably imagined being hailed as so brave, such a hero etc for adopting such a poorly little boy, trying SO HARD to make it work, and being strong enough to admit when it wasn't all working out. More praise and adoration for the self centred hole 🤢🤢

I don’t think the jury will deliberate for long, not sure what defence they could have after Hearing all the injuries on poor baby.
They will be traumatised too after having to sit through it all.
They both have nothing to loose pleading not guilty as only chance they have of being free again.

I just wonder what the poor jury must be feeling. We are all sick to our stomach just reading about it. It will be hundreds of times worse for them. This little boy comes into my thoughts all the time and if I was on that jury I think I would genuinely need some trauma therapy after. I think they are all incredible for doing their duty for Preston.

Thank god we don’t have to see the images and videos. The poor jury and anyone involved. I agree they will need support and hope they have access to it.

From the footage of the police interviews and his sheer arrogance / narcissism- I expect many people 'tolerated ' him. He seems the type who doesn't like to be told no / likes to get his own way/ spoilt cat. The kind of person you would just let things slide with rather than confront him and his amateur dramatics.

Someone said they think he was videoing the struggling to breathe and wasn't worried as it had happened before and things had been fine. What i don't get is the perforated bowel? Surely this would have happened sooner and honestly on such a young baby preston surely would have developed issues anyway and they would have had to somehow explain to doctors??? Or maybe I'm naive to what a body can actually cope with.
Also if the breathing difficulties were common due to abuse surely preston would have brain damage at some point??? They can't have thought this could go on forever

Wonder what on earth the BNE (defence) is going to present. Surely he will have his work cut out trying to defend JV, and even trying to plead for leniency. I wonder if he will risk putting JV on the stand to give evidence. If JV insists on giving evidence against BNE’s advice, is he allowed to resign? I think JMF’s defence will be trying to spin that he was enthralled with JV and was mislead, trusting him due to his safeguarding training etc. I think JMF’s defence will be about trying to pin it all on JV. Social media posts suggest that JMF is a sw not a salesman. It’ll all come out in the wash I expect

I just can’t understand why they have plead not guilty.

They must know the evidence and expert opinions are damning. Preston’s body is a catalogue of evidence of what they did to him.

Is it part of the thrill listening to it all again in court? Or do they genuinely think they have a chance of being free and people will believe they are innocent?
Very much so.

It also means that they are controlling the narrative and making everyone else - everyone normal - sit through the horrors they inflicted on a tiny child. They know that what they have done distresses people, and that it will haunt the jury, the judge, the barristers, the reporters, the ushers, and everybody else in the court or even peripherally involved, for the rest of their lives - as it will most of us.

Never underestimate the power these people like to wield. They are getting a huge kick both from re-living the experience, and from forcing others into their perverted world.

I think this is a very perceptive comment.

Today's evidence has been very upsetting so far, but at the same time, really damning in the fact I hope it nails these two. I just feel so sad for that sweet little boy 😞
