I've also been thinking about Preston's gran not getting custody. Besides her being unwell, I would assume there might be some issues in regards to her parenting after her own daughter's crimes. As that was very extreme offending for one so young.
I know this is a gossip site, but casting aspersions on the birth grandmother’s parenting ability is very wrong.
I’m not going to out myself, by saying how I know the family, other than I have previously known the birth mother in a professional capacity, but I do know that Preston was an extremely loved and wanted child, by both his birth mother and his whole birth family.
The only importance is that these two monsters are held accountable and fully punished for what they did to this baby.
I’m a seasoned professional working in the criminal justice system and I’ve been involved with some high profile offenders, so I’m fairly immune to depravity, but this is, by far, one of the most stomach churning, abhorrent crimes I’ve ever read about.
Justice for Preston is the only thing that matters.

Just hearing in the new podcast episode that Sandra Cooper was reading the live reporting and saw JV said she had used "free willy" time with Preston so she took it upon herself to come to court and call him a liar. What a remarkable woman. I presumed the court had called her in.

I loved when the detective said "well you weren't his dad were you" during JVs police interview when he said he was naked in the bath with him cos he was his dad .
👏🏼

The adoption wasn’t even made official yet. Why were fully grown men naked in a bath with a highly vulnerable child at all?? They were strangers to him. That is massively inappropriate in itself.

So the baby he claims he loved has just died in his solo care, he is so dramatically tortured by guilt that he’s grabbing crucifixes, yet his mind goes to ‘Oop better hide the sex toys from
Mum”. Sure Jan. Especially when they’re such a sexually liberated family that they have pictures of naked kids all round the house and all chuckle together at erect penises over the Sunday roast.

The absolute arrogance of this pair of horrific men is unbelievable, they are either running cut throat defences against one another and blaming each other wholly once they begin their defence or they believe they stand a chance of being found not guilty - or I suppose, they know they are fucked and just want another opportunity to revel in their sadistic abuse.

I do understand people who don't want to read the details and information but it is important to realise that child sex offenders and murderers don't always look like people expect, they live in 'nice' areas, they have good jobs, they have friends & family.
The home is such a dangerous place for so many children and if reading all this absolutely devastating evidence makes one person raise an alarm when normally they wouldn't have because the offender(s) seem so 'normal', then reading about these two sub human horror shows of people is worth it.

Preston’s wonderful foster mum said he loved having a bath. She would bathe him every night before bedtime. Then he gets handed to these monsters and his lovely bath time becomes full of pain and terror
It honestly doesn’t matter who on here would/wouldn’t get in a bath with their baby. None of us would see bath time as a chance to SA our precious children, and that’s all that was going on with these sick bastards. They weren’t having bonding time, they were living out their disgusting fantasies

The way I see it is this..
The jury are likely to accept that on the day Preston was killed
- JV assaulted Preston orally which stopped him breathing and by forcible penetration that caused serious bowel injuries, abnormalities to his bum and bladder injury..

To find JMF innocent
- they’ve got to believe that on the day that Preston is photographed hanging on his neck turning blue over the cot bars, with again a very damaged anus, with semen falling from his mouth on the exact location that is then tested to show JMF sperm in a MIXED sample with Preston’s dna, that JMF was there that whole day and his sperm is there just as terrible bad luck for the clean freak. It’s just a coincidence that the evidence of this assault totally mirrors that of Preston’s death and JMF is there the whole time along with his sperm 🤢

They’ve also got to believe JMF’s account that he really did come home to find Preston still sitting up being sick when in fact he had been filmed an hour and a half before at near death not breathing for 20+ seconds at a time, gasping and grunting and that all pathology shows he had been clinically dead for some time before arrival at hospital. He did not lose consciousness just as they got in the car which is what they both claim.
Now unless JMF says he lied about that to protect JV, why else would he need to lie? Because he knows he participated in these attacks previously too and it makes it look more convincing that he had no idea Preston was being tortured all day by JV if he carries on with the fiction of the scene he arrived to when in fact Preston was dead.

No one recommends putting a naked baby in their cot to enjoy naked time, because they’ll only piss over the bedding.

NO ONE says naked time is a great opportunity for a baby to “explore their own body”. Baby boys often grab and touch their genitals and that’s developmentally normal. It’s not something you’d get weird about and discourage, but equally you don’t schedule a moment in the day to allow them to do it, because that’s fucking weird.

I think I'm going to bow out of this thread for a day or two. It's just impacting me too much, especially with my son being his age and I'm starting to have instrusive thoughts of people doing those things to him. I'll catch up once I've had some time out but I would encourage anyone else struggling to take a time out too.

Please don't let these evil freaks make anyone think it's weird to have a bath with your baby or be naked in front of eachother.

I guessed the defence would try and say aspiration, it could have been a minute possibility given that Preston had tummy troubles with milk allergy and reflux. He was probably sick more than some babies and potentially inhaled some of his own vomit. The pathologist was brilliant and didn’t give an inch. Also with the bite mark being caused by a toy “show me the toy”- it doesn’t exist. She was fantastic. I’m inclined to think the bs drowning story will be a major headache for the defence, it was an obvious lie from the beginning. It would have been more believable to say he’d been put to bed unwell and must have vomited in his sleep. When I heard JV being interviewed he just sounded like a bad actor, putting on a tearful voice with no sincerity and kept slipping into normal voice. The police must have known straight away he was full of it.
I particularly liked when the defense said something like "if blah blah happened" and she said "you said the key word, if, but I've already stated it did not so I'm not answering" go on Dr! You magnificent woman!

Though it’s not been officially acknowledged, people seem firm on who his birth mother is. It’s such an unusual and shocking circumstance that it would be strange not to pass comment. To me though I think if it wasn’t Preston it would have sadly been someone else so how he ended up in care is an aside in what happened to him. There’s always a reason a child is put up for adoption so it’s pointless saying “if birth family had/hadn’t done x,y,z it wouldn’t have happened”. If JV/JMF weren’t degenerate scum who deceived the system it wouldn’t have happened. I think it’s natural to “bargain” with the facts because our brains like to think “if only” and try to imagine a scenario where everything would have been ok but that’s just my take.

Since I read that comment about Preston trying to smile at the social worker but then doing "a very sad face and a little cry" it's been coming into my head every couple of minutes haunting me. People have been saying with the hospital admissions, missed call to emergency services, foster mothers concerns etc, dots should have been connected. But didn't the ultimate power to remove him lie with his social worker even if the dots were connected? And she knew about all of the above bar the cancelled call. So obviously whatever system is in place isn't working. To me it seems like a new system needs to be put in place where kids are assigned two social workers who independently audit each other's opinions. And maybe a system in place where a fostered or about-to-be adopted child being admitted to hospital triggers a multi disciplinary investigation regardless of why they are admitted. Would be very expensive yes, but this absolutely can't happen again. I keep thinking of that note she left in prestons book for when he's 18 that said something along the lines of "it made me wonder was i missing something. I decided I wasn't." To me it struck me that it all comes down to the opinion of one person, albeit a professional but still just a person. Now I don't know if I believe we should be calling for her head to roll, and I can only imagine the news that he had died probably nearly killed her. The system as a whole seems to place an insane level of responsibility on one person, from what I'm reading of this case anyway

It doesn't sit right with me to blame JV's mum for the abuse of Preston and say she is almost as bad as JV.
Everything I've seen indicates that she loved Preston and he was happy when he was with her. JV's mum only has his and JMF's word to explain any injuries on Preston, this explanation was enough to fool trained health professionals, also it is a natural instinct to trust and believe your loved ones, there is nothing to suggest she was complicit or chose not to report any concerns.

JV's mum looked after Preston earlier on the day he died - but did he have injuries then or were they inflicted by JV after he picked him up?
She has lost her grandson and she's also effectively lost her son.

Relatives are not responsible for crimes committed by their family members - what JV and JMF did to Preston is on them, they were the ones who abused him and caused his death.

We talk a lot in society about how lessons will be learned and about safeguarding but I think a lot falls through the cracks and unless that can be tightened so that the right people can join the dots and there is context available to the right people then someone like JV will always be able to pull the wool over people’s eyes.
For example, the abandoned 999 call and then the drive to JV’s parents house and the 111 call made later that evening, where a call back was not answered.

As a vulnerable child in the system, only recently placed with new people, it shouldn’t have been left to chance whether either of those calls were reported to Preston’s social worker and the wider team. Both calls should have been mandatory reporting events. As it happens neither were mentioned to the health visitor on their first visit to the couple and Preston the next day.
The worst thing about the lack of professional curiosity shown here is that Preston was still a looked after child. He hadn’t been adopted yet (his surname was still Davey and he died too soon after placement for the adoption to have completed). Looked after children are in the care of the state and are always automatically to be considered extremely vulnerable. Any injury and certainly any hospital visit needs to be reported to social services and a full report filed. Multiple visits in a 4 month period should have been a huge red flag. The threshold for removal would always be much lower for an LAC than a child living with their birth family. My understanding is that they were reported to social services and the police following the fractured arm and that should have been more than enough to at least temporarily pause the placement and investigate. That little boy was failed by so many people and once again a complete lack of professional curiosity results in horrendous consequences.

They knew him for all of 4 months and were bathing with him pretty early on into that time. He was a vulnerable child and neither of them were his birth parent - the adoption wasn’t even complete. It’s absolutely sinister imo. Huge red flags.

JV re a photo taken of Preston in the paddling pool showing his genitals with a comment made re his penis -

“It was supposed to be funny. John often had a conversation with a colleague that the ladies are going to be very lucky when he’s older”

Thats fucking rank & disgusting. 🤢

This is the defence questioning now. The prosecution will then question him and also JMFs barrister. It's easy now for him as his barrister is trying to show him in a favourable light. Even under non-hostile questioning he is struggling to come up with believable answers.

Anne Geddes did very posed pics of babies. Mostly in flower pots or costumes but some were naked babies asleep but it was the babies' bums on show. Their genitals were always hidden or had a strategic flower/leaf etc in front of them. None of them were babies in a towel in a bath tub.

Sandra Cooper is a brilliant human being. To hear the court reporting and then volunteering to go to court to make sure her voice is heard to get justice for Preston is a sign of a woman who really cared about that little boy. She showed more love and respect for him in life and death than JV and JMF could ever show.

Preston was in the spinning cup for 25 minutes!! 8 videos recorded 🤢 he was probably hoping he'd be sick maybe and get it on camera. Most people would last maybe 2-3 minutes on something dizzy without feeling sick. Poor poor boy 😞
