I've done the same. Both of my children have been isolating this week as have friends who have caught it. My friend caught it in the hospital having her section!Have managed to reschedule my second Pfizer vaccine from mid August to next week. I’ll be 35 weeks. Would rather have it now than the week before my due date! I’ve heard of so many people self isolating or catching Covid this past few weeks (most of them having had at least one vaccine) and can’t help feeling it’s only a matter of time
Argh must be such a worry with kids, but at least it’s close-ish to summer holidays (not that this makes any difference if they’re at nursery/still going to childcare!)I've done the same. I've got a husband who is medical too (although double jabbed) . Literally feel surrounded by it!Argh must be such a worry with kids, but at least it’s close-ish to summer holidays (not that this makes any difference if they’re at nursery/still going to childcare!)
That’s terrible about your friend! Hope she was OK? I suppose at least it was after and not before - can’t even imagine having to go it alone
I know right! Getting long Covid is my biggest fear in all of this - still seems we know very little about who is susceptible to it and the lasting impacts. I know the most severe cases usually get the most attention in the media etc but honestly wouldn’t really wish any of it on my worst enemy!I've got a husband who is medical too (although double jabbed) . Literally feel surrounded by it!
She seems to be doing okay but how awful would it be having long covid and a newborn.Time will tell.
Oh goodness, I didn’t even see the last sentence when I read earlier. How is she?! Are they keeping her in longer? Is she allowed to be with her baby?I've done the same. 1,000 women doesn’t seem many for a trial of this scale though does it?Seems it’s being trialed now…
Moderna launches trial of COVID-19 vaccine for pregnant women
Moderna will soon begin trials to find whether their vaccine is safe for pregnant women. Currently, the CDC does not have advice for pregnant women and the vaccine.www.google.ie
Nope and the advice around it is still so very unclear! My GP told me to wait until baby is born so I’m gonna go with that1,000 women doesn’t seem many for a trial of this scale though does it?
Did your GP give any reasoning as to why you should wait?Nope and the advice around it is still so very unclear! My GP told me to wait until baby is born so I’m gonna go with that
He just said it’s a very new vaccine which echoed my sentiments exactly. I will get the vaccine after the baby is born but until then I’m fortunate enough to be able to be at home and have very limited contactsDid your GP give any reasoning as to why you should wait?
I think it’s because there are new stories coming out each day with symptoms from the vaccine that you’d never see from the flu vaccine which is naturally scary.i get people that are concerned and yes i might be biased as i work for them
but take for example the astrazeneca vaccine- its very similar to to the flu vaccine
the technology has been there for pushing on 30/40 years but the genetic makeup of the virus is new so once studied its applied to the technology and then the vaccine is produced
likewise with the flu vaccine, the techology is there as we use the same one for AZ and the flu mutates every year so its gets studied and then once they have the new makeup they apply it to the vaccine and then we have the new flu jab every year
no1 ever doubts having the flu jab and then scared of falling pregnant after it
please dont shout at thisjust would like to know peoples feedback on this
I respect everyone’s opinion but I don’t even think I would consider a flu jab while pregnant. Especially when pregnant on a long awaited child..i get people that are concerned and yes i might be biased as i work for them

And let’s not forget the recent death of this young woman after the AZ vax with no underlying conditions… (not an anti vaxxer either but these stories need to be heard)I think it’s because there are new stories coming out each day with symptoms from the vaccine that you’d never see from the flu vaccine which is naturally scary.
A friend of mine has a mum who was super fit and active climbing mountains etc. She had the Astra Zeneca vaccine and is now paralysed and in a specialist hospital 4 months on. I know they say these cases are very few and far between but when it’s someone you know it does make you question the chances of these cases being as rare as they’re saying.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m completely not an antivaxxer at all and I’m still undecided whether to have the injection later in pregnancy when we reach winter. I just wish there was more testing that had been done on pregnancies and babies after birth!
Totally understandable if you are not in a position to shieldI have booked my first dose of Pfizer after months of deliberating. I think the risks of catching covid and the reality of total isolation for 3 more months are just not in my favour any more. It’s been a really hard choice.
Fair enough , i know Pfizer have started to run a mid-stage study for 350 volunteers between 27 and 34 weeks gestation to confirm safety before moving into advanced trials for women between 24 and 34 weeks pregnant and we are following suit very shortly but the first lot of results wont be out till autumn time at the earliestI think it’s because there are new stories coming out each day with symptoms from the vaccine that you’d never see from the flu vaccine which is naturally scary.

My husband goes out to work. He can bring it home. I can try my best but there’s every risk still.Totally understandable if you are not in a position to shield
I know it’s horribleMy husband goes out to work. He can bring it home. I can try my best but there’s every risk still.
my friend had two doses and had her baby over a month ago and all was ok. as far as I’m aware it doesn’t cross the placenta. It’s a horrible situation for all pregnant women.
