Couldn’t sleep last night so I rabidly cleaned the kitchen and broke one of my nails as far down as possible without it falling off - got a nail appointment today haven’t I  Working in the NHS means I don’t get nice nails often!

My lower back is so sore today as well, I’ve taken paracetamol about an hour ago but it’s made no difference :( I think I’ve been losing my mucus plug this week as well. I’m so tired of this anxiety about guessing what my body is doing :(

I am so sick of not sleeping !!!!!

also had some lightning crotch in the night for the first time this pregnancy . Forgot what a treat that was . I’m 17 weeks tomorrow and feel huge , tired and achy . The second trimester is meant to be the easy one 🤣 tell me why I’m getting symptoms earlier and earlier in this pregnancy !

any recommendations for raspberry leaf tea?
I went to order some and didn’t quite realise how many different brands there is!

Hot Tea Mama! A few contain hibiscus which is a no go when pregnant apparently but that one doesn’t ☺

31 + 4 today and just had a massive cry at how uncomfortable i’m already feeling, and it’s just going to get worse 🥲 I’ve also had a haemorrhoid join me for the emotional rollercoaster and it hurts like heck and makes me terrified of going to the loo, thus adding to the general feeling of being massive and uncomfortable. Not something i’d ever thought i’d share to the internet, but here we are 😂

I have suffered hugely from haemorroids post baby and it’s been the worse part of my postpartum experience. I had anxiety going to the loo and it ruled my life. If cleared by your doctor get some Anusol cream for the outside, suppositories for the inside and if you have cuts/fissures talk to them about rectogesic, it’s strong stuff but it helped me manage them. Also stool softener sachets to give your bum a bit of a break. Don’t suffer in silence x

Oh my gosh, thank you! I’m going to ring the doctors tomorrow and see if I can get the anusol and stool softeners because i’m crying on the toilet and wondering how on earth i’m supposed to push a baby out if this pain alone makes me cry 😂

Honestly if this helps, I had an unmedicated birth and with some of my bad bowel movements I’d rather have been giving birth again. Seriously 🙃
A few other non medicine tips:

Drink water, a LOT of it
Fibrous foods
Cut down on starch (potatoes etc)
Don’t force or strain a bowel movement, let it come and take your time
Deep breaths

Let me know how you get on? We don’t talk about this much because it’s to do with going to the loo but the more I’ve been open about it the more common I’ve realised this is among us ladies.

I’m joining the club, too, at 21 weeks. I’m on iron as well, and it seems to make my bowel movements really random with no pattern.

Finally had my first scan on Friday at 13 weeks and the relief was insane! Baby was being camera shy and facing away so the sonographer was a bit annoyed at herself that she couldn't get any decent photos for us but I said that the reassurance that there really is a baby alive and kicking in there was more than enough 🥰

What are everyone's thoughts on holidaying whilst pregnant? We normally go away at the beginning of September but I'll be just over 6 months by then so I'm not so sure how I'll feel about it at that point so I'm scared to book anything 😬

We went to Malta when I was pregnant with my first but it was much earlier - I think I was 18 or 19 weeks. You’d need to check your airline is happy for you to fly and I’d want to go somewhere that had a good reputation for maternity care (so nowhere with a poor healthcare system!) as well as good food hygiene. I freaked out a bit about eggs in Malta as they’re not as safe as UK eggs and there was a specific issue with egg safety at the time we went.

I went away about 20 weeks and it was great, no issues. I learned that it’s the cheap all inclusive beer that gives me a dodgy stomach on holidays as obviously I didn’t drink any alcohol and felt great all week, haha! I was so hungry when I was pregnant though. Pre-pregnancy I would never eat lunch on holiday. Big breakfast, then my dinner. Maybe a trip to the snack bar early afternoon. Not so when pregnant! Breakfast, lunch religiously, massive bag of Lays that I dipped into around the pool, then my dinner 😆

I’m being induced tomorrow. I cannot wait to get this baby out of me as I’m sick of being pregnant!

I’m on holiday right now. 19+5 and it’s been absolutely fine except from the fact none of my clothes fit and by the evening I look very bloated but at least more pregnant haha. Oh and the fact I’m in Ibiza and can’t have any of the nice cured meats. Although I have to say non alcoholic cocktails have came on leaps, I even had a non alcoholic wine which actually tasted nice!

My opinion has always been that I wouldn’t go anywhere after 24 weeks because If I went into labour early I’d want my baby to have access to a NICU straight away for the best chances. But that’s my worst case scenario brain! I’m 22 weeks now and have just got UK trips for the rest of the year. Again, just my opinion and if you feel well enough I’d go ahead

I also know someone who went into early labour, had their baby in the NICU in Spain and they had to spend 5 months out there until he was allowed to come home. Nightmare
