I heard baby on the Doppler at my 16 week check. Think it depends on the trust and the midwife! Some don’t like to do it for some reason

Definitely in early labour, 1cm dilated and semi-regular contractions. Went into triage at 3am because they were so bad I couldn’t sleep and they said they can see the contracts are happening but they‘re not strong, long or regular enough to be moving towards active labour at the moment. Could feel babies head well engaged in the cervix on exam.

I’ve been ok most of the day on paracetamol, but it’s starting to ramp up again as it’s moving towards night. Because I’m still technically preterm (until midnight, lol) they said go back any time I want, or if my waters break/I have any bleeding/I’m worried about anything. I’ve read different advice online as to whether it’ll likely be days or longer (!) - any advice?

I’ve got some raspberry leaf tea and some pineapple which I might have some of tonight, why not eh

No advice sorry but wishing you well! I have read about a lush bath bomb, feet rubs, nipple stimulation etc helping I will be trying them all in a few weeks 🤣🤣🤞🏼 x

Hi, has anyone had experiance with having a filling removed/tooth removed with a filling insitu during pregnancy? I am 18 weeks but suffering with horrendous toothache in a back tooth and it’s cracked and needs taking out really but after reading online it seems unsafe to remove a mercury silver filling but the pain is intense, any advice welcome!
I got a filling while pregnant- I was early stages but still told the dentist and she never mentioned any risks etc! I got a white one - tbh I hadn’t even thought of checking if there was risk to this. Did your dentist not offer any guidance? X

Hi all, I am 13 weeks pregnant with my first baby and based in Australia! It’s interesting seeing how different things are already between Aus and the UK. I’ve already had a 6 week scan and a 12 week scan, heard babies heartbeat and & know the sex (from the NIPT, but glad we wanted to find out as it was VERY obvious on our 12 week scan 🤣). However; they don’t print off photos anymore apparently so I was bummed about that! Looking forward to chatting with you all 🥰

Oh wow!! How lovely!!
Mental the differences in different countries. I got a 12 week scan then 20 week then that’s all they offer. Went for private scans at 8 weeks and then 30 weeks as I need the reassurance every thing was ok 🤣 I am currently 32 weeks so might book another before they are here 🥰 x

Does anyone know what my likelihood is of being booked in for growth scans ?

This is my first high risk pregnancy where I will be consultant led . The reason for this is that I had pre-e with my daughter . I’m on aspirin daily until 36 weeks and yesterday at my midwife appt my blood pressure was all good . In my booking appt she said that being high risk wasn’t as scary as it sounded , it just might mean I have to have growth scans and will meet with the consultant (my appt is on 29th July where I’ll be about 24 weeks) .

Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience and what “extra” care they got ?

I was also on aspirin daily until 36 weeks as my first was small so the were concerned about risk of pre-eclampsia with this pregnancy. At my 20 week scan they said I would have growth scans and meet with the consultant just to keep an eye on me. I then also had fortnightly blood tests up until 37 weeks when they became weekly to test for pre-eclampsia. Just as well tbh because although I don’t have pre-eclampsia my platelet levels are getting lower every week so now they’re keeping an eye on those instead!

This is really helpful to know , thank you . I’m really hoping I am given growth scans as it will be nice to see baby more often . My 20 week scan is in just over a fortnight so hopefully I’ll find out some more then 🥰

I am high risk, I have high BP and previous gynea surgeries and aspirin as well. So far I’ve had a 5, 12, 20 and 22 week scan. And also a separate scan for my cervix, and also been given dates for a 30, 32 and 34 week scan as well.

I also have to see the midwife more frequently but that’s mostly for BP, nothing else she really does there. I’ve also been offered a consultant appointment at 32 weeks to discuss birthing options and will opting for a maternal c section as my partner works away. Currently 23 weeks.

High risk here due to age of first pregnancy and being overweight. Never actually saw my consultant during the pregnancy but he reviewed my notes (and actually delivered my baby but that was coincidence that he was on planned c section duty that day!). Had to take higher strength folic acid for first trimester and aspirin but I can’t remember for how long. Maybe 36 weeks? Had the GD test. Had two additional growth scans. In my trust I think that’s all the ‘standard’ stuff they give to people on the high risk pathway, and maybe they adapt their response depending on what might show up along the way. I did have low amniotic fluid found at 36 weeks during the growth scan so I had some additional CTG sessions leading up to my elective c section (which was primarily arranged because my son was breech) and a repeat ultrasound a few days after my 36 week one to check there was reduced fluid and not an anomaly.

Honestly if this helps, I had an unmedicated birth and with some of my bad bowel movements I’d rather have been giving birth again. Seriously 🙃
A few other non medicine tips:

Drink water, a LOT of it
Fibrous foods
Cut down on starch (potatoes etc)
Don’t force or strain a bowel movement, let it come and take your time
Deep breaths

Let me know how you get on? We don’t talk about this much because it’s to do with going to the loo but the more I’ve been open about it the more common I’ve realised this is among us ladies.
Update on the fun bum situation. Went to the GP in agonising pain and he suspected a thrombosed/strangulated haemorrhoid that would require surgery, but he couldn’t refer me as I’m 32 weeks preggo, so referred me to maternity triage instead. I get to triage and felt like i’d massively wasted everyone’s time and was told even though it needs surgery, nobody’s going to do it so i’ll have to put up with the pain until he’s ready to be born. Will my a explode having a vaginal birth?!

Thanks!

I am fed up. I am impatient. 100% impatient. And I hate ramping myself up to something for it to not happen, so I am feeling very grumpy today. I need to give my head a wobble as I am only just 37 weeks today - it’s not like I’m 41+5 or something! I think I’m just so anxious to avoid an induction again and it felt like that was finally happening.

I think I got myself mentally prepared over the whole of the day Wednesday and then when the pain started to ramp up overnight thought right this is the day, baby is arriving now, sort the toddler out and here we go. Then yesterday after about midday - nothing. Nothing at all. No pain, no cramps, no twinges, not even a Braxton Hicks to keep me on my toes. I slept solidly from 10pm to 5:3am, woke up starving so had some breakfast and brought OH his breakfast in bed, fell back asleep and still nothing. Bit of aching in my lower back if I get up and move but I think that’s because baby is now really quite low and my posture is suffering (improved with some yoga). I’ve booked OH and myself a table at a local restaurant we’ve been dying to try for ages but haven’t made it round to yet because of the toddler, and I’m now doing some mindful journalling trying to remember that I don’t need to panic yet but I feel so guilty for ‘making a fuss’ (Even though it wasn‘t a fuss at all!) and sending my toddler away :*(

I have no idea why am going to be insufferable if this carries on for more than a week, haha.

I’m 16 weeks pregnant and my stomach feels bruised?? When I lift myself up out of bed it feels like I’ve done an ab workout? Has anyone else experienced this and is it normal??
I have this now and I'm 24 weeks, had it since 20 weeks

What are you ladies doing for bras? I feel I am growing out of them so quickly… it’s more my back than my bust. I pulled out one this morning must be pre pregnancy and I am so shocked at how small it is! Had absolutely no chance of clipping about 5 inches too short 🤣 x

I’ve just bought some from Hot Milk Lingerie that are meant to grow with you throughout the pregnancy and then can be used for nursing too once baby is here if that’s what you’re doing ! They’re really comfy !
