Pregnancy #67

Stretch marks - didn’t get any with my first as I’d lost weight prior to pregnancy so my skin was already loose & essentially just filled back up :ROFLMAO: I did get some post birth but honestly couldn’t point them out now.
Glucose test - I had to have 2, as I was sick just before the second blood test but for the 2 hours wait before that moment, I was absolutely fine!! I didn’t have GD so think it’s just pot luck how it affects you. The second one went smoothly so not sure why the first one ended the way it did!

I have my glucose test this Friday and I’ve seen nothing but horror stories on TikTok of people projectile vomiting… is it actually that bad? I think I’m more anxious about this than giving birth 😂
Mine was fine. I was glad to get home to eat something but that’s because pregnancy gave me insane hanger. I enjoyed sitting in the maternity unit doing duck all for an hour or however long you have to wait there. I would love to do that part again 😆😆😆

Oh mine is the following Friday so you’ll have to report back! I’ve just accepted it’ll taste gross lol.
I’ve told my husband that he doesn’t need to come as it’s quite a long time to take off work for him! So I’ll be taking my book and switch lol.

Tbh I enjoyed the drink 🤣 it’s like a still luzoade drink. I didn’t feel sick at all - felt a bit jittery it I think it was just from the sugar tbh. Hope it goes well… take a book!! I was in for nearly 3 hours.

Heartburn is such a witch. All I’ve had this morning is a small bowl of yoghurt and fruit and it feels like I could breathe fire
It is awful!! I must eat a packet of the love heart sweets a day & have an omeprazole every morning x

I used to have a pre-emptive Rennie before bed every night in my late 3rd trimester. In my first trimester I couldn’t stomach the texture of rennies in my mouth so that was horrendous. I declined omeprazole because I decided I wanted to only take ultra necessary medication and nothing more. This was so stupid of me to be honest. I had to take omeprazole before my elective section and it was so effective I realised I’d been a numpty not taking it. Also for all my efforts to eat the right foods, stay hydrated, not drink more than the max recommended caffeine, etc etc, my son still had some (temporary) health issues when he was born so, were I to be pregnant again I wouldn’t go wild and drink raw cow’s milk or anything but I’d take more things that the midwife/Dr said were ok to than I did during pregnancy 1!

Lovely news! We’re the same but everyone we’ve spoken to has been so positive about us not finding out which has helped hahah. However the pink blue or beige clothes options have been a killer lol.

Does anyone have any maternity swim suit recommendations for aqua fit type swim classes rather than holiday swimsuits? 😘

Yes same , everyone has been so positive . But the gender neutral clothes are a bummer . I’m just going to get a lot of plain white sleep suits and then buy some gendered bits once baby is here . God bless the supermarkets !

my maternity swimsuit is from George at Asda . It’s just plain black and very functional but it’s not “professional” by all means . But it does me for my weekly session of Aquafit and a lane swim bobbing in the slow lane with all the old ladies 🤣 x

edit: found the link , it’s very similar to this one but mine is plain . Mine is older from my previous pregnancy : https://direct.asda.com/george/wome...jGyILE5JvNyt15RF4lyvwdS-ogz7BZABoCdHoQAvD_BwE

still it’s reasonably priced and functional and I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on something that I’d only wear for 4 months max

This is probably going to sound so weird and I am probably just having a pregnancy moment, but has any first time mums had a bit of a wobble about how little time they feel they have left? Like I'm 35 weeks on sunday, and just had a sudden realisation that the past 5 years it has only been me and mr mog, and we'll never get that time back just us 2, which does sound kind of selfish and unkind but I'm finding it hard to come to terms with now we are so close to meeting baby mog. Not at all saying I am ungrateful or anything, but it just hit me all at once 🥲 Just thought I'd ask if anyone else has had the same thoughts and feelings x

It’s so normal . You’re about to go through the biggest life change you ever will . It’s okay to feel that way and it’s not ungrateful . You can be so made up that you’re going to be a parent and also have a wobble about how things are going to change at the same time . You wouldn’t be human if you didn’t !

my son is 7 on Saturday and this time 7 years ago I was an anxious wreck , wondering if I’d done the right thing , if we could do this , if things will change to a point where I will regret it , yearning for more time as just the two of us …

And things will change . Your relationship with your husband will change . Your priorities will change . But oh my god will it be worth it . Parenting is hard but there’s a reason why people do it because it is simultaneously the best and most rewarding thing 🩷

please don’t worry about being selfish and unkind . You’re having natural feelings about a massive impending life event . Feel your feelings , soak up these last few weeks as just a twosome , and don’t be too hard on yourself . You’re doing great , and you will do great as a mum . And that’s a promise

Sounds totally normal and I remember thinking the same. We are quite a ‘boring’ couple, no hobbies that took us off out the house, not big on nights out etc. We did love a fancy meal out but I honestly haven’t missed it. My son is approaching 10 months old, we have managed to get out for dinner twice which was nice but I can’t say I’ve sat about yearning for posh meals! It’s just a different phase of our lives, is how I see it. You sort of just adapt. I struggled for a while because I didn’t feel like we got any time together, when BabyDrag would go to sleep my husband would only want to slightly whisper at me (for a long time our son slept in our front room, long story!) and it was perfectly possible to just have a calm, quiet, conversation in the same room, but you move through it and find your groove and I’ve only remembered this now I’m replying to you!

I’m also 35 weeks and feel the exact same way! I’m petrified and mourning the life I used to have with just us two. I’m trying to remind myself that i’ll feel silly for feeling this way later down the line, but it’s hard to put into words isn’t it!
All I wanted was a baby and as soon as I got pregnant I was so so miserable feeling sick, had prenatal depression and now i’m just tit scared - it makes me feel so ungrateful

It was a breeze! I did bring a straw with me as I saw on TikTok that it makes it easier, and I really think that helped as I could sip it slowly. The last mouthful was a bit icky, and the first maybe ten minutes of the wait (I think that might have been anxiety though). But honestly nothing to worry about at all, just a long, hungry, experience 😂

Totally normal to feel this way lovely, I always say feeling grateful to be pregnant and not enjoying pregnancy is not mutually exclusive, both can be true at once. I hated a lot of pregnancy though I do miss some little bits like feeling him move.

Also totally normal to mourn your life before baby, BabyA is 6 months now and I wouldn’t change him for the world but I miss glasses of wine in the garden on sunny evenings, sitting down to watch tv together, last minute city breaks, all of it! BabyA is amazing but I miss feeling like someone other than Mama…all normal and doesn’t mean I’m ungrateful or love him any less, it’s a massive life overhaul! I didn’t love the “newborn bubble” everyone talks about being so special either..,also completely normal!

Ooo top tip bring a straw thank you!
I’ll definitely have a sandwich waiting for me afterwards haha. Mine is at 8:30am so I’m hoping before the hanger hits 😂

Bringing a straw to the GD test is GENIUS ! I’m doing that ! Mine isn’t until the end of August though

I had the whooping cough vaccine yesterday and my god is my arm dead !! It’s so sore . I was going to go for a swim at lunchtime but I don’t think I can lol . Don’t remember the vaccines being this savage
