I have to say, with appointments my trust has been pretty decent. I registered with the hospital on a Saturday online and by Monday afternoon I’d had a text and message via the nhs app for my booking appointment and then 12wk scan. After the 12wk scan I then received a million texts and messages on the app with all my future midwife & scan appointments. The only complaint I really have is seeing someone new every single time and while the first sonographer was wonderful - the next one absolutely needed to attend a bedside manner course. 😅
My sonographers were the same, but in reverse. The first one needed a career change as she obviously hated it and everything about it. The second one somehow managed to be a mix of seeming like the most qualified and professional person I’d ever met with also seeming so excited like she was brand new to the job and the novelty of scanning babies had not remotely worn off for her. She was an absolute joy, so great I wrote a massive compliments letter in to the patient experience team for the trust because everyone deserves a scan experience like that and she probably deserves a raise as well!

New to this threadJust found out I'm pregnant last weekend roughly 5 weeks after trying for a year, so happy but the anxiety is crazy as i am on the older side also😳 tried to book an early scan but can't get an appointment until the first of next month 😥 which seems like too long to wait. Doesn't help I'm reading the awful hospital reviews and goggling every symptom.

Any tips for the anxiety and crazy insomnia ❤

You’re not alone and I absolutely understand finally being pregnant (and older!) and then thinking everything is too good to be true. The 12wk wait for your first scan is brutal. If you can pay for a private one I would. It’s still better to wait until around 10wks to do that. congratulations! It’s a wild ride!

Thank you so much and you too❤❤

Yes it's terrible the stress you go through being a bit older not too mention the " oh you would want to hurry up comments 🙄"

I definitely feel it's too good to be true❤

This is a private app unfortunately and I've been advised that this would be the best time to get a better picture and find the heartbeat so I will just have to wait it out 🫠

Noticed reduced movements this evening compared to normal. Have been on hold to the triage line for half an hour now and just keep getting told I'm position 1, this call is honestly stressing me out more 😭

That’s ridiculous! So sorry you’re going through this lovely. I had to go in last night too for reduced movements, thankfully everything was okay. The doctor told me that reduced movements are so common and 97% of the time everything is fine. Only 3% of the time it’s not. But it is ALWAYS worth getting checked out

hope you manage to get through to them soon and get checked ❤

We decided to just start driving there because the hospital is 40 mins away, finally got through after an hour and she said to come straight in. Hopefully the baby will start moving when we get there and all is ok! It's so stressful isn't it!
I'm glad that everything was ok with you and your baby as well! Definitely always better to get checked!

Hi hope everyone is well! I haven’t wrote anything in here since I was 5 weeks, I’m now 17+3 but have HG and the most awful pelvic pain, but I’ve really enjoyed reading the last few threads & lurking from my bathroom floor, or work when I have managed to go in ❤

I remember this well! I’m 40 and 25 weeks pregnant. My NHS trust has not called it a geriatric pregnancy to my face which I’ve really appreciated, I am on the ‘red’ or high risk pathway because I am 40 and I have a high BMI, but honestly this doesn’t really mean anything different. I have some additional advice and have a few extra appointments and checks. I’m afraid my insomnia has never gotten better the whole pregnancy (I literally have slept the night through once since finding out I was pregnant 😳), but you do somehow learn to cope with it even though I wasn’t convinced this was ever going to be possible.

I thought I was having a private early pregnancy scan at 8 weeks and when they measured me I was 7 weeks and 1 day. My baby was literally a smudge with heartbeat. Nothing remotely resembling a baby at all. I don’t regret going then as us, because I waited as long as I could, but it would have been good to have been a bit further along to see a bit more.

The hospital I am due to give birth in made the press for being ‘terrible’ for maternity services, but when I read the actual reports, the media had overstated the issues. I had cause to go there last week (I was fine, the baby was fine, was a teeny scare but it was totally ok and everyone was just being extra safe and cautious) and I honestly cannot rate the care I received there more highly. They were amazing, fast, caring, efficient. So, don’t believe everything you read even though it’s so easy to go into a spiral, I totally did when the local radio was telling me how terrible the hospital was on my drive home one day.

Very early pregnancy is a bit wild. You can have basically no symptoms and have no idea if something is happening or not and it can drive you mad. That can be totally normal though! So can having all sorts of weird and wonderful symptoms. I have some sort of dermatitis that broke out on my face in the early weeks that I can’t get rid of, and the first trimester my sinuses were full of bloody mucus and I was not expecting either of those things. I’m glad you found us! I hope we can help you manage your anxiety a bit, we have pretty much all been there ❤

Aaaah I’m only 2 days ahead of you 🥰
I have horrible pelvic pain which I never had in my first pregnancy so it’s really taking a toll as I feel I can’t do things as usual 😣

Ahh that’s not far ahead at all! I never had it with my first either, I work in dentistry so I am stood up all day working in people’s mouths (when I’m well enough to go) and by the time I get home I can barely walk! Even turning over in bed is agony it’s crazy how much it can hurt sometimes! My midwife has done a referral for some physio but I think it will take a while as the list is long. I’ve missed out on going to the park with my eldest etc recently it’s really crappy being so limited by the pain, I feel for you x

12 week scan went well and I think I'm out of the woods of the timeframe of them ringing me to tell if owt is amiss with the blood test so woo

Work continues to be an absolute shitshow

However HR appear to be on my side and have set in motion it being informally resolved with the Head Banana of my area
I've told HR about my pregnancy and made it clear this is causing STRESS and everybody seems to running round to try and fix it
My manager is still making life very very difficult (Occ Health say that all recs must be discussed with HR involvement, she schedules 1:1 in person meeting with me to discuss recs "to allow complete privacy and I will take notes which will remain confidential between you and I) and it's rotten but I'm on leave next week and hopefully when I come back tit will have hitteth fan and it'll calm down till I can gtfo

Just had my sweep 🫣 that is such a weird sensation! Slightly painful too. Why do I feel so nervous 🤣 she said my cervix is lower than she’d expect at this gestation, and I’ve been getting some cramping/loads of lightening crotch. So I’m hoping stuff is happening! 🤞
I’d love a water birth! 🥹

I want to say boy because I’m having a boy and I had no sickness only nausea which I worked out was related to constant hunger. My apple watch has had lots to stay about my increased heart rate. I feel him mostly on my left side as well. My craving is ice cold fizzy drinks which is close!

however I’m not sure because my food preferences/cravings have mostly been savoury, my BP is fine, my boobs don’t really seem to have gotten bigger/heavier (but they were already large!) sooooo. I dunno but I’m excited to hear when the time is right to share with us randomers on the internet.

I had ‘boy vibes’ from early on but I don’t know why or what that really meant, either!
