I swear to God if one more person says something stupid to me about having a baby to me I'm going to do a murder.

'You do know, you won't get more than a couple of hours sleep?'

'Babies don't just eat three times a day, you'll have to feed them every couple of hours'

'You do realise babies cry a lot and it's something you have to get used to!'

Etc etc

The urge to reply 'do you think I'm bleeping stupid?' is unreal. As if I had absolutely no concept about what having a baby involves, as if they are the first person to tell me this. Honestly.

Lol when they say “you know you won’t sleep at all once the baby is here right?” Jokes on you love I’m 35 weeks and I haven’t had a good nights sleep since I was in the womb myself

In what world is this helpful?! Like, people are such wicks, honestly. What are you supposed to say to this? ‘Oh duck, I didn’t know, can you take the baby for me when it’s born?!’

if pregnancy has done one thing for me it’s removed my filter and ability to be nice to people who are not being nice to me. They’d get both barrels and then some if I were you!

Omg same. I mean, I thought I knew insomnia before I got knocked up but nah, preggo insomnia has been next level. I figure it’s some kind of resilience training, SAS style, for motherhood. I bet mine will bless me with great sleep but I’ll still be up all night or something 🤣🤣🤣

100% I slept better in the newborn days with my first than in the third trimester! I was getting a few 2 hour stretches of deep sleep at least vs absolutely no deep sleep at all in the last few weeks.

I’m really struggling with the nausea and fatigue of the first trimester. I work a corporate job and worked most of the weekend... Any tips to make things easier? I’ve not told anyone at work yet (and don’t want to until after the 12 week scan).

Has anyone done any of the free baby academy classes? I keep getting ads on insta but want to know if theyre any good

I did all the free ones with my first baby (2023), they probably haven’t changed much ? I found some bits of the information useful and they do try to sell you the other courses throughout and I think I had an email or 2 after to try sell but I’d say the free ones are semi worth it if it’s your first baby?

I work in a similar environment and I travel to the states/Middle East a lot for work so I had to tell my boss at 8 weeks as I wasn’t going to travel.
If you feel comfortable tell your manager and they are obliged to make adjustments for you.
my morning sickness was horrific and my boss was amazing. I had reduced working hours in the first trimester and less dinners/events I had to attend
I really would tell your manager

Yep I really hate this.
I’m also finding my body is up for grabs….oh you’ve filled out in your face 😤 oh look you’ve got a ‘proper’ bump now
I had my first stranger tell me look you’re ready to pop and when I said I am due in August (they asked) they insisted I was ready to pop now FFS 🤦‍♀️ I just said oh do I look massive then 🤣 what else am I meant to say

Yep I got “oh my gosh you are going to get so much bigger you’re only 21 weeks and since I saw you a few weeks ago compared to now!” Cheers that’s awesome.

Thank you for your reply and I’m so glad your work has been so accommodating. Maybe this sounds silly, but I’m worried they’ll think I’m being pathetic (it’s a very male heavy working place). I am glad I’ll have an excuse not to have to go to so many events and work dinners! You’re probably right… I’ve got an early scan on Sunday, so perhaps after that I might tell someone.

I actually found the men I work with to be better than the women - because they appreciate that they can’t understand how you feel. Whereas if a woman has had an ‘easy’ pregnancy she assumes you’re being dramatic. I had HG in both pregnancies and my boss said everyone has the same experience of pregnancy, some people just handle it better than others 🫠

Get your scan done and then tell your manager.
Unfortunately your treatment as a pregnant woman is very potluck depending on your manager and team.
You can ask for flexibility in your working hours. For example when I am in the office I don’t have to go to the early morning meetings when I was in the throes of throwing up 🤣
It was a bit obvs but no one said a word until I told them all around 13 weeks I was preggas
I also had a day during my first trimester that I just bust into tears because everyone was being nice to me at work. So my boss told my husband to come and pick me up and that I needed to go back to bed 😆
But I’ve been extremely lucky and I’ve had friends who have been treated like tit when pregnant.
if it’s male dominated then lead the convo so say you can have flexi hours, how can they accommodate you and also say you can’t do any events when you’re being sick.

It’s so bloody rude!!!! Stop commenting on my body!!!

Also the awkward ‘so have you decided on baby names yet?’
I just say ‘yes’ and then it get awks 🤣

What week did you guys tell work? My work isn’t particularly arduous. Just sit at a desk all day tap tapping. Nearly all of the top dogs are men so I (immaturely) feel a bit icky telling them I’m duffed, but will need to spill the beans eventually. I’m not really showing yet and still wearing all my usual work gear so nobody suspects anything. There’s a huge part of me that hates that I have to tell them. I love only a small group of people knowing and I just don’t want to have to talk about every symptom, ache and if I have a name chosen yet every time I bump into someone in the canteen. Especially when I know these people do not actually give a tit and are only asking because I’m now the talking point.

My boss 8 weeks
The rest of the team 13 weeks

I’m high risk and have quite a few scans so waited for the one at 13 weeks

I’ve also had several miscarriages and actually wanted my team to know early if I was going to have another miscarriage and needed time off work.

I’ve told my ceo who I report to and my direct team I manage
My customers are next and I am 27 weeks and going off end of July but my work do not replace senior directors so it’s been late due to having to put a plan together of who / how my role will be covered for the 6 months I am off for
