I’ve had intermittent itching from about 22 weeks onwards and have had LFTs taken frequently since then. Similar to you, a couple of my levels have been raised but my bile acids have been fine. The consultant said she’s not worried unless my bile acids spike.

The weird thing with my itching is that it was always on a Sunday. I realised it was being caused by what I was eating. I’d eat really healthily Monday-Friday but then carb load on treats all day Saturday. I’ve since made sure I’ve been having more balanced meals on Saturdays and the itching hasn’t been an issue anymore. I asked a midwife about this and she had a mum-to-be she had in the past also experience it on the weekends due to treating herself more often.

As long as your bile acids are fine it shouldn’t ring any alarm bells with your consultant, but have that convo with them for reassurance anyway. Obviously they’re the professional and I am not. 😂
That's so interesting. I was CRAZY itchy in late 1st and 2nd tri, we ran liver tests but nothing was abnormal and it wasn't my hands or feet, just everywhere but it would literally keep me up all night and disappeared some point in late 2nd/ 3rd tri... so I put it down to hormones. But as I was then diagnosed with GD I was obviously eating a lot better so maybe that's why! 🤔

I am 39 weeks today and booked in for ecs next Wednesday due to the GD and fasting sugars constantly giving me hell. Chose ecs as I don't want to be induced via drip but attempted a sweep this morning. Sadly not dilated enough for midwife to sweep she just 'agitated and prodded' to see if it could possibly dilate more. Got another booked for Saturday and again Monday. Hoping by some miracle baby girl can come naturally in the meantime but not looking likely! Can't say I'm surprised though. This is my first and all the women in my family have gone to 42 + with their firsts. Just glad my plan B is all sorted and booked in. Recovery will be tough though I'm sure

I hope we are back. I was upset this morning knowing I have nothing to feed for my night feeds!!!

Growth scan and consultant appointment didn’t go very well today. Had a male sonographer who we’d never seen before which put me on edge because I’ve never had a good experience with men working in these kind of fields. He didn’t say a word to us throughout, spent way too long on baby’s head with zero reassurance about what he was doing. Then wrapped it all up by saying baby has had a massive growth of 3lbs in the last 3 weeks. I ended up in front of the midwife and my consultant in tears because our usual scan experiences have been so lovely and reassuring.

Baby is breech again and they’re freaked by the growth spurt. We did have another scan with our usual sonographer who was so lovely and reset that experience for us and she came out with the same estimates but she did admit that baby girl wasn’t in the best position for measuring.

I’m 36+3 and they think she’s estimated to be at 8lb 6oz right now. Consultant booked me in for an ECS at 38+3 but I think I’m going to decline and request an ECS for after 40 weeks. They said they’ll scan me before the surgery and if she’s head down it’s up to me as to whether I want to induce there and then or continue with the section. They want me to monitor my blood sugar levels over the weekend as they think I might have suddenly developed GD very late. I have no other issues and NICE guidelines do not recommend a section just because the baby is suspected to be large. If she stays breech then fair enough but I just felt a bit shocked into signing the consent form.

I have a huge fear of having a section and this is so far from the relaxed, drug-free, spontaneous pool birth that I wanted.

You can change your mind. They cannot do anything without your consent. If you want to have a vaginal birth then you can. You don't have to be induced either. Plenty of big babies are born perfectly well. I really wish maternal medicine would stop scaring mum's into procedures. Measuring scans are not particularly reliable either. I was a huge baby (nearly 10lbs- no GD) but my Mum said I was the easiest to have.

Make an informed choice and decide what's best for you. Maybe even get an advocate if you need.

This! I measured 8-9lb and baby boy was 5 days overdue at 6lb 9, don’t feel pressured into doing anything

Exactly! The more I think about it the more I feel like it was a scare tactic today. My friend’s 3rd baby, who she had vaginally, was 10lbs and she said he was her easiest birth. Baby girl is super active and happy in there so I don’t see any need to pull her out early just because her estimated size is off their growth chart.

I have a midwife appointment on Monday and they’ll review my blood sugars from the weekend but I fully plan on declining the 38+3 ECS and requesting one after 40 weeks but only if she remains breech. I can’t recall the exact term they used but they’ve basically called her an unreliable flipper. The consultant also mentioned shoulder dystocia and a little voice in the back of my head was screaming that smaller babies are just as at risk.

This happened to my best friend. She was scared into being induced at 41 weeks because her and her husband are both over 6 feet tall and was told her baby would be massive, but she came out 6lb 7.

Good for you, follow your instincts Mama. This is your birth, one of the most important moments of your life, you have every right to choose what's right for you. You're making an informed choice and any clinician should respect that.

thank you for the helpful advice! They’ve retaken my LFTs today, so we’ll see…I am very itchy though! It’s sporadic, not really at a specific time. It started around 14ish weeks. I feel like it’s causing angry red patches on my belly :( not exactly the aesthetic baby bump I wanted! 🤣

I’m due to see the consultant next week so we can make a plan

Honestly, the thought that I’d lost this thread when I looked at Tattle this morning had me in a cold sweat!😰

Had the 12 week scan this evening, 4 days further along than i thought. But everything with baby was good and all on track so that was a relief!

My OH had nothing first time as we went in not thinking it was time. Poor bugger was wearing jeans, no snacks and it was Covid so couldn’t leave. He was there, must’ve been 30+ hours 🙈 didn’t make that same mistake again!

@RoseyThorney I was frightened of VBAC with a big baby so I opted for a 2nd CS as they estimated 10lbs+ and was told they were already 9lb at the last scan, they’d tracked big the whole way and had a few “spurts”. They arrived 7lb8.

I also had a successful ECV with my first. Have they offered that as an option?

Has anyone had an “out of guidance or grey area” form for their midwifery led unit? I’ve got one in a couple of days and not sure what to expect

I had my 12 week scan on Monday at 12 wks 5 days and everything looked fine but have just looked on Badger Notes and it has recorded baby’s nuchal translucency measurement at 2.9mm. I’ve googled this (I know, I know 🤦‍♀️) and keep reading mixed things - some sources say below 3.5mm is normal but others say 2.9 would be considered high risk for abnormalities. Just wondering if anyone else had a similar experience and how everything turned out?

Sorry not experience exactly as I only had my scan yesterday but they told me that anything under 3.5mm they were happy with and considered that to be normal. I also had blood tests which I will receive the results of in a couple of weeks and if anything comes back as a high risk or abnormal they told me a midwife would call me.

If there was anything to worry about with your results someone would have called you, don’t worry xx

Mine was 2.1 and all the screening came back low risk. Over 3.5 is where they start to get concerned
Usually if there’s an issue they’d have called you within three days so I wouldn’t worry too much ❤

35 weeks today! 2 more weeks left at work. This is about to be the slowest 2 weeks ever.

I was in the same boat a while back, mine was 2.7mm and was quite concerned, but all came back low risk - granted it was about a month later they appeared on badger!
