Here's a question for you all. When your baby is here will you be bringing them into your workplace so colleagues can meet them?
I know I won't be, but mainly because my office is city centre based so not exactly local, and there's only a small handful of people I actually like here i'd rather bring baby for a lunch date with work friends instead away from the office.

I’ve taken Baby R in but only because me and Mr R are both managers in the same place so we took him in to meet our team. I meet with a few of the girls on my team every other week too

I’ve delivered at my trust twice before, but thankfully not as a midwife.. god knows how mortified I’ll be this time

Any recommendations for prams?

We went and had a look today and we saw some really nice ones like Drift and Parnorma brands for like £400 but my mum showed us an iCandy one (mainly because it’s designer I think) and the price is like over £1000 so me and Mr 10 are very hesitant as it’s soo much money.

Going to look at some more soon but what are you guys thoughts on the iCandy etc?

With prams I would recommend having a list of criteria it'll need to live up to.
Ie: folds up compact if space is an issue, big sturdy wheels if you're likely to go off road with it much, easy to put down/up, is it future proofed (if there's any chance you'll have another baby while current one still needs a pram is it one that you can attach to so you can make it a double), do you want just the pram or a bundle so it's your whole travel system?

Personally we wanted one that folds up and down easily, and wanted the whole travel system.
As my family and friends i grew up with all live at the other end of the country we also needed to consider types of car seats to make long journeys as doable as possible. For that reason we're almost definitely going for the Nuna Mixx Next, because you can use the pram carrycot in the car, it attaches to the car seat base meaning baby can stay in it for longer intervals than a regular car seat as they'll be laid completely flat in it.

I would also highly highly recommend going to the likes of Mamas and Papas and John Lewis with an open mind, ask for advice and try as many as you can out giving them a push and putting them up and down. You could find you end up surprised what you do and don't end up liking. When we looked I was convinced beforehand that I was going for the bugaboo fox 5, and while it's a fab pram we realised in reality it wasn't the right one for us.

Edit to add that it's also worth booking a nursery/baby appointment at John Lewis as they do a percentage discount depending on what you spend if you buy anything off the back of the appointment.
Mamas and Papas do a very similar thing, but instead of a discount you get vouchers back depending on your spend, that you can then use towards future bits and pieces.

Just found out I’m pregnant with number 3!! I’m 37 and have 2 kids age 2 and 8. This happened totally out of the blue and I am not prepared! How hard is it to go from 2 - 3 kids?!

Hiya! I’m 37 and pregnant with number 4 (my partner has 2 kids, I have 1 and we have one on the way they’re 13, 10, 5) and it’s absolutely great. It’s hilarious, it’s absolute chaos, buy A LOT of glasses as there will always be at least 8 in use at once, you will most likely feel like a chef (unless you’re lucky enough that your kids aren’t fussy and will eat the same things in which case tell me how you did this), get a tumble drier, and although I’ve never had just two (went from 1-3 kids) it’s like whackamole sometimes. But… it’s great. And I wish you the best of luck with your pregnancy and the kids

You are definitely not ruining your 2 year olds life. Like Brew says, you’re giving him a best friend for life. I have a 2 year gap with my sister, and Mr R with his closest in age brother, and both of us see them as our best friends. I’d be lost without my sister. Life will change for him, and maybe a bit strange for a while, but he will absolutely adore Baby George and love them just as much as you do.

Ah thank you @Brewtime87 @raspberryjuice I think cos I'm the youngest I don't know what it's like to have a little brother or sister so I'm deffo overthinking. My sister is 5 years older than me and is my bestie so I dunno why I'm having all these doubts.
I think it's probs just cos the baby will be here this week and my 2 year old has been so cute and loving today

I have a 2 year age gap and when they play together it’s just so lovely. My eldest definitely gets so much from having a younger brother.

I went with an uppababy vista, I walk a lot and it has a great basket. Plus if you were to have any more it can be turned into double buggy.

then I got a babyzen yoyo to leave in the car.

I’m the older of the 2 and the only time I’ve resented having a younger sibling was in our teens when she was an utter witch Other than that I love having a younger sibling. Your boy will be fine 🩵

I’m 28ish weeks now (time is flying) and I swear this child is trying to escape. He’s so active most of the day now, and has moments of up to 10 seconds where my stomach is just moving in all directions. It’s not uncomfortable or painful but I’m guessing it will be as he gets bigger

I work in hospital so I won’t be bringing her in till she’s fully vaccinated

The iCandy was my dream pram. I really, really wanted one. Mainly for aesthetics to be honest they’re so smart but that’s just my personality, designer everything. We went for a Mamas and Papas one in the end, it was about £950 all in with the Cybex Cloud T car seat and 360 base, which is currently supposedly one of the best car seats out. The equivalent travel system with the iCandy Peach 7 w same car seat would have been £1,600. I do think there’s an element of you get what you pay for, and you don’t want to fall victim to buy cheap buy twice.

I do second booking an appt either at M&P or John Lewis as you get to test loads out pushing them, but also folding them up and testing how you get on with the different weights of prams. iCandy is notoriously heavy, but you might be stronger than me. Extremely well made in return though. Plus you get either 10% off £1000+ at JL or £100 voucher over £1000 at M&P

One I would say to try is the M&P Ocarro. They seem extremely popular from my Trafford Centre people watching. I think they come at a very reasonable price for the quality, I probably should have gone for it. I went for the Strada instead which is the ever so slightly cheaper city version of it, basically great inside/on flat land but will struggle more on uneven surfaces. Hopefully doesn’t bite me in the a!

We have the icandy orange from my first baby, I think there was a newer version coming out so we got the whole travel system in the sale for about £850. I love it, it’s easy to fold and set up etc but you need to take the carry cot off when folding. It’s big and bulky so if you’ve not much space then you’d probably prefer something more compact. We also got the Joolz aer as a buggy and love how light that is, so was thinking this time of buying the carry cot to add to that instead of using the icandy. It’s so light and compact and folds up with the carry cot attached and can add on the car seat etc to make it into a travel system, but we decided it was just extra money when we have the icandy already. I think the icandy will probably be better for winter.

We got the ocarro. I wasn’t a huge fan of the icandy and wanted one I could go “off road” on. We also looked at egg3 and oyster but we got a good deal on the travel system! The only issue I have is you can’t tandem it like you can with the icandy / egg if I had another close together !
