I’m taking just under 9 months off and then my husband is taking 3. I’d love a year too but I’m the breadwinner and my mat pay isn’t great so the unpaid part would be hard for us on just his salary! I’m trying to work right up until my due date too.How long is everyone taking for maternity leave? Oh yeah you’ll be fine, pretty sure you don’t need a certificate til much later with BA anyway. We flew at 16 weeks and even sat in the emergency exit row and no one batted an eyelidI'm entitled to a year but I may have to do 9 months and husband take over as I only get statutory maternity and he gets months of paternity at full pay. I'm saving like mad in the hope I can do the full year.
I'll be just over 15 so I think I can get away with it. Haha, I have that "how would they know" stuck in my head now
I’m doing 9 months.. but my boyfriend said to me tonight that he is thinking about selling one of his houses and if he does he said I can take the full 12 months off as we will be able to afford it, so got my fingers crossedHow long is everyone taking for maternity leave? I’m taking 11 months purely due to getting a decent amount of maternity pay from employersHow long is everyone taking for maternity leave? I think I roughly have about 8 months off when I use my leave, but wishing I could afford to make it a year.
I spoke to my friend about this as I am worried about an induction (likely at 40 due to GD) but there are people who have good experiences. It’s just like people putting reviews I think - you only hear about the amazing or the horrible.I just had a meeting today and they want to induce me at 40 weeks exactly due to my Gestational diabetes as she seems to think baby will be 10lb + if I go anymore and she seems to think ill struggle as its my first baby, if I dont naturally go Ito labour by then its made me leave crying as no one shares good stories about induction only bad im quite scared now im 37 weeks have some time to calm down I guess and hopefully naturally go into Labour
but she said you can be in the hospital for days.. im thinking hospital food isn't GD friendly and what am I gunna do as my blood sugars need to stay stable for babies sake
and I had ++++ ketones again in my urine and she was saying how bad it is im like I know im really trying to eat more/ carbs its hard..
I’m hoping to have 13 months off including holidays. I get 3 months full then stat, hoping I get a bonus then use my KIT days once stat ends. I’ve also managed to save for the last year too which I hope will helpHow long is everyone taking for maternity leave? This was the first sign I had with my first pregnancy, my waters ended up breaking that night and contractions started a few hours after that!major tmi... but im 37 weeks now ive been having very watery stools all day, went to triage last night too as was worried as she was moving so much for hours which Is unlike her wasn't too concerned but as I had gestational diabetes I was worried even more, all was fine but I was having alot of Braxton hicks as well I could see on the monitor as well as feel![]()
is the loose stools a sign labour could be near? or am I becoming unwell maybe, this is my first child so im pretty clueless of signs!
also think ive been loosing my mucus plug over past few days top
I also feel okay, quite tired, but overall okay
I understand your anxiety I mentioned it earlier people love to fill you with horror stories when they know ANYTHING about your pregnancy, like oh you're having a csection, I was in hospital for 7 years after mine.....it's just wild.I just had a meeting today and they want to induce me at 40 weeks exactly due to my Gestational diabetes as she seems to think baby will be 10lb + if I go anymore and she seems to think ill struggle as its my first baby, if I dont naturally go Ito labour by then its made me leave crying as no one shares good stories about induction only bad im quite scared now im 37 weeks have some time to calm down I guess and hopefully naturally go into Labour

You don’t need a certificate until about 32 weeks so there’s no restrictions on flying & you don’t need to tell them at this stageI'm entitled to a year but I may have to do 9 months and husband take over as I only get statutory maternity and he gets months of paternity at full pay. I did, especially in my feet, knees and hands. I’d like to say it disappeared after birth but my finger joints are still swollen 3 weeks on and I still can’t get my rings on. My knees and feet were awful the last couple of weeks and nothing seemed to help.Has anyone in the third trimester with oedema/swelling got pain in their joints too?
I’ve got quite severe pain and soreness in my ankle and knee joints. My knuckles also hurt. I’ve been checked for DVTs as one leg is worse than the other and they are satisfied I don’t currently have pre eclampsia, but the swelling in my feet and ankles is lasting all day now with no relief and the tightness and discomfort is really starting to bother me![]()
My ankles were horrific, one was significantly worse and the only shoes I could get on due to the swelling were flip flops. Never figured out a way to stop it, just try and rest as much as you can! And I found putting my feet in a tub of cool water helped ease the discomfortHas anyone in the third trimester with oedema/swelling got pain in their joints too?

I was told by my midwife for oedema drink plenty of water and have your legs raised above your kidneys because it helps drain the fluid. Maybe that will ease things?Has anyone in the third trimester with oedema/swelling got pain in their joints too?

Sorry to hear this lovely, I had this earlier this year for the first time in my life and it was soo painful. I’d defo call the midwife/Dr tomorrow if you’ve had it before just so they may be able to help and/or at least it’s on your records.I'm having a little cry tonight as I'm in so much pain in my stomach/midriff area. I suffer occasionally with gastritis which is horrendous at the best of times, it feels like it could be that but as soon as there's any aches or pains anywhere near or around baby you just panic don't you. I've felt her booting me earlier since the pains first started so I do think she's okay but it's awful not knowing for sure. And if it is gastritis again I'm too scared to take anything for it in case if harms her. This sucks. Has anyone else had pains like this? It's like really extreme hunger pains that start just under my ribs and go all the way down.
And to make matters worse (trying to make myself laugh with this next bit) I'd been saving some Wensleydale with cranberry cheese for an emergency situation, decided this counts as an emergency situation where cheese would cheer me up but the poxy thing has gone well out date as has the other cheese hidden in the fridge. What a rubbish afternoon/evening.
