Have to agree the logic doesn't seem sound! But I'm not a medical professional
I guess trying to keep him in there as long as possible? Hope you can have a better night's sleep at least.

it’s frustrating and they keep sticking needles in me, and I stupidly ordered salmon for dinner. Pray for me.other than being like 38 weeks pregnant how do you know your body is ready to do it?
Thank you, my booking appointment is beginning of January so assume Xmas has got in the way. I had read about the 14 week rule but I think I’m a few days behind (since my cycles are normally 31 days) so hoping it’s fine!They book it at your booking appointment.
The down syndrome screening can be done anytime up to 13 weeks and 6.
With my first I went at 13 weeks but he was measuring 14 weeks and she was worried she wouldn't be able to do the screening so she got someone else in to help. They got me to wriggle around a bit and go for half a wee and they measured him a few more times until they got it to 13 and 5
I'm going to be 12 weeks on boxing day so I'm hoping I can get the scan before Christmas otherwise because if the bank holidays I'm worried that it will be end up being too late for screening again.
Luckily I work in the hospital and know the people that book the appointments so I'll be going and calling in a favour as soon as the midwife has put the request in
Literally just giving it a go and seeing what happens! I haven't experienced any leakage or anything throughout pregnancy so had no idea what to expect (if that's even an indication) so I just read the instructions and away I went.
I’m home as of today. Still spotting but it’s (sorry in advance) old brown blood/discharge. They’ve told me that if I got any fresh blood to go straight back (obviously) but that otherwise baby is happy and all her monitoring has been good so they’re not concerned and there are just some unexplained bleeds sometimes.
I do feel I’m now a nervous wreck on pins and anxious every time I go to the toilet. Just hate that I might feel like this for the next 8 weeks.

obviously not being anxious is easier said than done but try and remember they wouldn’t have sent you home if something was wrong and you can just as easily go back and get checked over again if you need to! Try and relax and enjoy the remainder of your pregnancy
You’ll probably end up back in before 8 weeks, but you’ll be prepared for it this time. So glad you’re out though, that’s great news.

That would not sit right with me at allWith my first pregnancy my waters broke at 38+5 (literally just after midnight, whilst half asleep) and I didn’t deliver until 70 hours later, so almost 3 days.Oh how strange, I always assumed waters gone means baby coming
@CallMeHollywood we've never spoken before but just wanted to say I hope you’re okay and I hope they have discussed giving you antibiotics intravenously if your waters have gone and you don’t go into spontaneous labour imminently? Speaking from experience, risk of infection is high and needs to be taken seriously after rupture of membranes.
It fills back up with baby’s wee. Just spoke to my drug dealer on the ward and she said 32 years ago they kept her in from ruptured membrane, too. Don’t think I’m going anywhere until he comes outOh how strange, I always assumed waters gone means baby coming

Thank you, I appreciate you reaching out. I’m being given tablets rather than a drip. They’re treating this really oddly and I’m not sure why. It will be interesting to hear their plan tomorrow, as I’m just sat here taking up a bed while others lie in the corridors and wait for a room.
When I delivered my 11 year old many moons ago, there was a woman in the bed next to me. She had PROM at 28 weeks, she was 36 weeks and on total bed rest as her waters were refilling and they were desperate to get her to 37-38 weeks.It fills back up with baby’s wee. I delivered my twins at 32 weeks, and sometimes it's a case of teetering on the line of are they better out than in. They'll always try to get to term unless it's safer out.
When my waters went at 35+6 they checked me and said I wasnt dialated so gave me antibiotic tablets and sent me home, they said if I hadn’t gone into labour by 37 weeks I would have to come in to be induced, but they were going to get me to come in twice inbetween to be monitored! Luckily the labour went quickly and baby fudge was born the same day about 6 hours later but I couldn’t believe they would’ve let me go a week with my waters broken!It fills back up with baby’s wee. Just spoke to my drug dealer on the ward and she said 32 years ago they kept her in from ruptured membrane, too. Don’t think I’m going anywhere until he comes out

That’s great about the antibiotics! I personally wouldn’t feel happy with waiting an unknown amount of time before delivering. Were you booked in for an elective caesarean already? Maybe they are hoping you’ll go into labour soon (as is often the case after waters breaking) and are trying to not do anything until they absolutely have to. Which is obviously wrong. Not always the case though as I ended up being induced and went on to have an emergency c-sec (I appreciate you are earlier gestation though!)
I’d ask them outright why they are waiting and why you’ve had conflicting opinions from different medical professionals! Hope you are managing to rest up- hopefully you can channel your stress into excitement soon! Not long til you meet your baby
I’m booked in for a section as he’s breech anyway so I’m happy with that. I have a growing list of questions I want answering because three doctors are telling me very different things. It’s strange, isn’t it? It’s an easy win for them to get you induced and back out the door again. Same with me and a section - they could have this bed back much quicker. They’re bringing women in at 10pm here to start inductions and it doesn’t make any sense.

I can’t see why they won’t just do the c-section if you’ve had the steroid injection and you’re booked for an elective section anyway!
I KNOW! This is what’s annoying me. Going to have to talk to them tomorrow without my reasonable husband to translate my angry Scottish spittle.
Have they spoken to you at all to explain what their plan is and why?
Ask to see their policy/pathway for PPROM.
From what I've seen guidelines for it are basically try and keep baby in as long as possible while monitoring for infection etc.
It needs to be a two way conversation though, they need to go through the risks and benefits of keeping baby in or doing the c section early and then you can make the informed choice because it is your body and your baby at the end of the day.
When I did hypnobirthing with my first one of the most useful things I found was the decision making tool of using your BRAIN.

I think you and your husband need to sit down and have that chat with someone senior and make sure you go through everything and then make the decision. If you want to push for the early c section after you've got all the info then you should be able to. They might not be happy about it but as long as you sign the consent form and agree you understand the risks then they shouldn't stop you.
