I can definitely buy Christmas outfits for the wee bairn now.
The newborn Christmas pudding outfits I've been seeing out and about are the absolute cutest and I'm low key devastated I won't be buying any in that size 😆

Best of luck and hope you're doing okay!

I got the phone call on Monday from one of the diabetes midwives confirming that I have GD (borderline positive so bit frustrating!). Picked up my meter today and tried to test and got error messages. I tested 3 times and just not working. No idea what was going wrong but burst into tears. Just feeling like a bit of a failure at being a mum already and he’s not even here yet. Going to try again tomorrow when I’ll hopefully be calmer and find some YouTube videos but if anyone else has used or is using the AgaMatrix Wavesense Jazz any advice would be appreciated because I want to give up already. I don’t know if it’s pregnancy hormones making me more emotional but right now this is making me just want my pregnancy over (I’m 21+1) and I don’t want to feel like that, I want to enjoy it as much as I can! 😞

What is the error code you are getting? I think error 4 means there isn’t enough sample to test which I had a few times. Please don’t feel like a failure, it is absolutely not your fault that you have GD.

I can recommend following gestationaldiabetes_dietician on Instagram and there’s also a really helpful GD UK group on Facebook if you use it x

Morning ladies. Worse night sleep I’ve ever had - I hate hospitals. Woke up at four with the “I’m too tired to have a baby today” mantra and now I’ve got slight contractions happening, so baby may end up coming today anyway 😆

Straddle the two threads as I’m now in hospital. Started wetting myself last night around 9.30pm and kept an eye on it until 5am when I woke up husband and told him it was time to go into hospital. Turns out waters are going so instead of the lovely elective I had planned at 39 weeks, he may now be coming tomorrow at 35+3.

Pros: he’s already chunky, he’s also breech so it would be good to get him out, means I can eat pate and drink at Christmas.
Cons: he’s early and may need help, I miss fake Christmas on Saturday which is going to be amazing, it’s all very dramatic and I don’t like it.
Observations: my bump is deflating like a sad balloon, hospitals are insanely busy at the moment, I desperately need to paint my toenails, I can definitely buy Christmas outfits for the wee bairn now.
Oh wow @CallMeHollywood Hope e you’re ok? I know how scary and frustrated you might be feeling as this has been o sort of my experience this week. You and baby are in the right place to be well looked after but it’s still scary when it’s early.
I’m still in hospital but hoping to go home today. On Monday they were talking about whether I might deliver early at 31+3 due to it showing on the monitor that I might be having contractions. It has shown this consistently this week. It’s been overwhelming and I just hope you have lots of support from you OH and get treated just as well as I have by your midwives.

Yesterday I was scared, but today, I want him out and safe. I’m ready and it seems he might be too. OH was amazing yesterday, he really is a rock.
What’s the plan with you? 31 is early but medicine is incredible. They started pumping me full of antibiotics yesterday to see if they could keep him in a little longer but I heard it works better with younger babies. Have you had steroid injections yet? That was a shock to the pain threshold yesterday 😬

It definitely sounds like he’s ready to come. And what they do these days medicine wise is unbelievable. They were explaining a lot to me on Monday and I hadn’t heard of half of it.
They told me about the steroids for the lungs and the skull in case they had to give me it but I haven’t had any. Heard it’s painful! They just kept monitoring me and asking if I’m feeling any contractions and waiting for bleeding to stop. My back is bad today but I think that’s more the terrible bed 😂 hoping to go home and for her to cook a while longer but this has made me think I possibly won’t get to 40 weeks!
Wishing you a safe delivery xx

Something about hospitals is so exhausting isn't it . Dunno if it's the lights or the observations or just the constant background stress.
Are you nil by mouth yet?

My roommate is a shuffler and complains constantly. Think she may also have a medication issue 😬 she was on a monitor for hours last night and it kept disconnecting from baby’s heartbeat so the alarm kept going on. I’m exhausted and can’t wait to get home. I’ve made myself nil by mouth since 8.30 due to medication.

Hi, I had the same issue with the machine when I first started using it! It was because I wasn’t getting enough blood out of my fingers, I tried my thumb and it worked, it takes a bit of getting used to. Also warming up your hands and massaging from the bottom of your finger gives you a bit more blood. I’m still struggling with the whole thing but don’t be hard on yourself❤

Hi, when do you get your appointment for the 12 week scan? I’ve rang to get my booking appointment which they said they’d want to do at 8-10 weeks but I’ll be 11 weeks. Is that normal?

My 12 week scan was booked at my booking in appt. And I was actually 14 weeks when I had it. Initially thought I would be 13 weeks but I dated a week later

Thank you lovely! Glad it’s not just me who had trouble! I tried again this morning and managed to get to grips with it. Thank you for the tips especially when it’s getting so cold! ❤

It was Error 2 every time. I think I’ve cracked it now though! Thank you for the recommendations, I’ve joined the Facebook group and it seems so helpful so far!

They book it at your booking appointment.
The down syndrome screening can be done anytime up to 13 weeks and 6.

With my first I went at 13 weeks but he was measuring 14 weeks and she was worried she wouldn't be able to do the screening so she got someone else in to help. They got me to wriggle around a bit and go for half a wee and they measured him a few more times until they got it to 13 and 5 🙈

I'm going to be 12 weeks on boxing day so I'm hoping I can get the scan before Christmas otherwise because if the bank holidays I'm worried that it will be end up being too late for screening again.

Luckily I work in the hospital and know the people that book the appointments so I'll be going and calling in a favour as soon as the midwife has put the request in 😆🙈

Update: baby wood is not coming today, and the logic isn’t sound. I’m having contractions, my waters have gone and have blood in them, yet they want me to stay here at least another night to see if they need to give me a section if I’ve got an infection, which they will do in a week. I’ve had the steroids, I’m here, just cut me open and get him out.
