I’m finally joining in here cos I’ve made it to 13 weeks! Yeah baaaaby. After 2 miscarriages I am sososososoosooooo happy to be here.
Question - I want to find out gender. Mr. Sidelines does not. do you think it is at all possible for one of Us to find out and keep it a secret from the other for the next 5 months!? He’s happy to do so… but has anyone else managed this!?
Congratulations! If I’m honest I think you’d struggle!!! Even if you’re a great actress, discussing things like names/nursery themes/looking at clothes etc you’d naturally be drawn to the one you know you’re having if that makes sense! And I imagine it’d be difficult not to refer to baby as he or she. But if you think you can then go for it! And report back as we may have this issue next time 🤣

Haha I have honestly got 0 clue what we will end up doing! We are both pretty sure it’s a she anyway. Don’t ask how but we both get the feeling. And I’ve been 12 week nub theorying away and I reckon it’s a gal in there. But we will see! I just don’t think I can wait til June to find out what they are 😂😂

No advice personally but my mum and dad were in this situation when they had me. My mum found out and my dad didn’t. I have no idea how she did it but it was a surprise for my dad when I was born! It is do-able but must be super hard not to tell. My partner’s parents don’t want to know and I’ve already almost let it slip to them by accident and we only see them once a month ish 🙈

I'm 8 weeks now but my 3 year old told everyone when I was about 5 weeks 🙈 We purposefully didn't tell him because we knew he would but he must have heard us talking.
I didn't mind him telling his grandparents because we'd want the support if anything goes wrong but he's told his nursery teachers and all of his friends 🙈

I have to tell work asap because of what I do my role has to change slightly and I need time off for appointments. I've only told my manager and the health and safety person though. I think

Congratulations!

My husband and I both wanted to know but even if we hadn't our wee boy wasn't exactly shy, it was kind of obvious 😂 We're not telling anyone else and even though we don't see or speak to family all that often, it's quite heard not to accidentally let it slip 😬 Good luck though 😊

With our first we found out and weren’t telling anyone else but slipped up so many times with “she/her” and then obviously ended up buying pink clothes, teddies & doing the nursery girly so a few family members ended up finding out, which I didn’t care about in the end! Was only keeping quiet as some wanted to know and some didn’t so thought it was easier no one knowing! This time round we’ve basically told anyone that’s asked anything about baby but also have a toddler who tells everyone 😂 there was a couple of family members who didn’t want to know but my brother let slip to them saying “it’ll be nice having a boy in the family this time for a change” 😂 so I’d personally never manage it but I’m sure some could!

i’m crying tonight i’m 36w2days and i’ve been getting stretch marks for the last month. i just noticed tonight my hips and bum are now covered in them. purple. covered. not just one or two.

does anyone know any influencers with them as i feel like it’s just me that has them. no one else i know got them

Thanks @CallMeHollywood and @easyliketuesdayafternoon

Scary day. Bleeding this morning that’s continued all day sort of. They checked my cervix as they thought I might be having contractions. Baby has had lots of monitoring and we had a scan this afternoon and all seems well with her. Just unexplained so I’m in here until at least late tomorrow if not Wednesday. Not where I want to be at nearly 32 weeks tbh and it’s very worrying. But I’m in the right place and getting checked regularly

Anyone else really early on into pregnancy about to combust thinking about all the waiting you have to do? 😂

I am not even at 5 weeks yet so I’m guarded about telling everyone and feeling I can relax a bit more and be more open about telling people feels like such a long way off.

it feels like such a lot of information to hold and deal with currently 😂
yes! I’m about a week ahead and the wait is killing me. My partner is the only person who knows but I had to tell the dentist and it just felt weird them congratulating me.

It’s also the hardest time of year to not drink, I have managed to get away with it twice so far but so many more drinking opportunities coming up with Christmas. Not to mention trying to keep on control of my hormones. I’ve already cried at work!

I am hoping to have an early scan before Christmas to tell close family. Trying to hold off telling work as long as I can as we’re having a restructure !

Let us know how you get on today!

Last night’s sleep was hard. I now feel like I’m carrying around an actual bowling ball. Looking forward to my consultants appointment on Monday to find out when he’s being evacuated.

From personal experience it’s best to wait for a scan until you’re eight weeks if you can. If you’re six weeks and you’ve got your dates slightly wrong (especially if you weren’t tracking ovulation) and it’s still too early for a heartbeat you then have an agonising wait of a week or even two weeks to see if the heartbeat is there. Whereas if you go at eight then even if your dates are a week out a heartbeat should still be present

We’ve chosen a nursery for our little man! Booked til September 2024 but thankfully I am lucky enough to be taking a year’s mat leave so can enroll him for March 2025. Can’t believe how broke we’re going to be til he gets his free childcare hours aged 3 but it already feels so worth it 💗

agree with spoiler text. I went at 8 weeks and I was only six weeks so only just had a heartbeat present.

Regarding nurseries, I’m hoping they change this to nine months but I don’t think it was spoken about at the budget last week.

I totally understand that, it's a nightmare isn't it. My tummy was covered in huge purple ones but after a year or so they faded to a silver white colour, and it really doesn't look half as bad as it did

What’s the earliest you’ve had a scan?
10 weeks, thinking i was 13 wks...it was still a great scan but i had to go back as they wanted to get a better look at baby's head to see the butterfly shape development?? Basically to see if brain is developing as they couldnt get a proper look at 10 weeks but still got great images of the baby

I'm 17 weeks now, got my first in person midwife appointment this morn and whooping cough vaccine I think. Such a baby with vaccines but I'll do it for my baby girl!! Anyone else in their first pregnancy and feels like noone cares lol, all I've had is a quick 12 week scan and a rushed booking appointment over the phone 🤣 I guess the appointments will be more regular now

5 weeks 5 days, I thought i was gone 6 weeks at least. It was at the EPU for a bleed. Seen a heartbeat though which was nice 😊

It’s recommended for private scans to book in 3 weeks+ after a positive test because dates can change so much

I had a private scan at 7w, it’s the earliest they’d let me book because by then there should be a visible heartbeat, sac etc.

I’ve had both. 35 and never had a flu jab before but had this one as I thought I don’t want to be really poorly. Whooping cough is because for the first 8 weeks baby isn’t protected but if you have yours they get some protection. My understanding is there has been some uplift in the amount of whooping cough cases in small babies. I didn’t elect to have another Covid booster though.

Update on baby. I’m still in hospital. Possibly will be another day but all is well with her. Had a growth scan last night - day after our private scan 🙈😂 and she’s looking well. Lots of monitoring too.
