Which one did you go for?
Oo what did you go for? And how far along are you?
I’m 18 weeks so starting to think about looking at some of the bigger purchases in the next few weeks
I can’t wait for shopping for things like this 🥹 what did you pick?
We went for the Egg2 travel system in feather. It is a thing of beauty, just hoping it’s actually as good as it seems when I have a baby to put in it 😂

I’ll be 35 weeks this weekend. We ordered shortly after our 20 week scan but the shop let us hold off on delivery until closer to the due date which was helpful. It’s so exciting when you start to make the big purchases!

Forgot to mention - I got a lecture from my midwife about not wearing maternity clothes! The jeans I'm wearing aren't tight yet and are comfy. I'm not a stylish or aesthetic driven person at all but most maternity clothes are hideous. I'm a jeans and plaid shirt kind of person, trainers & the occasionally dress. Have never worn leggings & never will for certain reasons. Also being 4'11, maternity jeans with the fabric band absolutely swamp me. All maternity dungarees are made for non vertically challenged people.

It's all well and good lecturing but there isn't actually any nice maternity clothing for short people 🥲
Ignore my ignorance please but why did she lecture you??

To be honest, I'm not really sure. I don't struggle to get my jeans on comfortably. She took the fundal height measurement and then asked if I was wearing normal clothes, I said yes, and she tutted and told me to get maternity leggings. I said I don't wear normal leggings so wouldn't start now and she said "well, for comfort you may have to make sacrifices" and I said I'm fine as I am, I have a few dresses I've sized up in and am not fussed about maternity clothing. She went on a lecture about how I'd feel more comfortable in maternity clothes - which I'd get if I'd expressed any discomfort about wearing normal clothes 😂 she wasn't my usual midwife and I can't say I'm particularly keen

Hands up who’s got a linea nigra!

I had one in my first pregnancy but can’t remember when it appeared. I’m 31 weeks now and can’t see it, when I google it says it usually appears around 20 weeks.

I’m just curious 🤣

I didn’t get one until AFTER I had my baby🤪 very bizarre!

I'm almost 15 weeks and have been smug the last two weeks generally symptomless, plenty energy, appetite normal. Smug AF. Of course it was short lived today as I'm exhausted again.. Tbf I deserve it thinking I was free of the fatigue.

God I’m already having to buy elasticated trousers for work and I’m 9 weeks haha second baby

Yep totally normal for Aus! Seven weeks is a great time to do the dating scan as if your dates are off slightly and you go at six weeks they might not be able to see heartbeat etc even though everything is fine.
---

From memory (31 weeks with my third, you’d think I’d remember 😂) I think it’s 500mL of clear, non fizzy liquid one hour before your appointment. They’ll usually do an abdominal scan first, have you empty your bladder and then come back for the transvaginal.
thanks for the tip!

had my 20 week scan yesterday! sonographer was nice enough but quite dismissive i felt, like when i said i thought baby was a boy (had an early scan due to worries) she was like oh right yeah pretty sure its a boy then moved on. it wasn't the reassuring scan i wanted - i do understand it's for measurements and i'm SO happy all seemed fine but there were no comforting words just.. yeah looks alright??

also, did anybody obsess over the little scales in the chart for the scan? baby is measuring like 25th perc on most (except belly lol way over) - should i be worried? (yes this is why im up at 4am )

ALSO i too am petite and having a nightmare with clothes, its all enormous if you look for maternity when 5ft!!!! all i managed to buy so far is a stretchy dress in primark in a size up so far :cautious:

Unfortunately nhs scans are very practical and there to ensure baby is ok. Private scans are much more about placating the parents. They would’ve told you if there were any issues. It’s also a first anomaly scan so they’re using it as a benchmark to measure everything. I’m sure baby will catch up but as you’ve said, you’re petite so he may be too. We both have long legs so ours has too. Genetics are fascinating.

It sounds like someone needs to create a petite maternity line. Ladies?

Ah sorry to hear that. I think with the nhs it probably depends where you go. The lady who did my 12 week scan was really nice but we’re at a different hospital in the same borough for my 20 week so who knows (2 weeks today).

I don’t understand the whole measuring thing yet at all and the percentile confuses me totally 🙃 hopefully will understand when I start getting measured properly.

Hopefully if any of us shorter ladies find any good items in the search we can share tips here!

congrats on 18 weeks today!

i think i had possibly big expectations as i have a friend a week ahead of me that is going to the same hospital, same trust - and she said how lovely her sonographer last week was, she put on music for them and really talked through everything and seemed excited for them. i didn't need music lol but i'm going through this pregnancy alone so i just have a lot of fear and a bit of reassurance would've been so appreciated. i suppose it's just who you get on the day! i didn't get a nice lady for the 12 week one either :ROFLMAO:

i'm gonna bite the bullet soon and buy some maternity bits on asos soon so if they're petite friendly i'll let everybody know!!

Guys I'm in absolute agony 😭 just wondering if this is normal - I feel like my whole upper body is being yanked apart by horses 😭 my ribs are absolutely throbbing and my shoulders feel like they are separating. I honestly didn't think pregnancy could feel like this. Maybe I've been naive 🙈 but I've never felt a pain or discomfort like it and I don't know where to put myself. Nothing seems to ease the pain.

My first pregnancy was like this-my body started expanding as soon as I peed on the stick, had to come early from our baby moon as the rib pain was so bad. Stupid q but have you tried a bath/heat pad/hot water bottle/ice? The rib pain is fairly normal especially if you’ve a kicker but maybe check in with a midwife about the shoulder pain

Does anyone else utterly cringe at "Hey mama" culture? I'm trying to read informative blogs and they throw that phrase in there and I just can't continue, I've died from cringe.

Yep it’s awful. I try and stay away from it 😆

while I slept, husband put together furniture and I’ve woken up to a nursery that’s looking like a little boys bedroom. So nice having all his clothes in one place and not shattered around the house. Definitely feeling very real now.

Before I buy the TT twist and click nappy bin, has anyone found an alternative?

Sorry you didn’t have a great experience. My first born was on the 25th percentile and lower percentiles at other points of pregnancy so we had lots of scans for growth. Born at 7lb 1oz tho!
If you are petite, I’d put it down to that. I’m 5ft 3 and hubby 5ft 10 so we were never going to have a tall/big baby if that makes sense? She’s 3 now and still fits in 1.5-2 year clothes, she will likely be the same height as me as an adult but she’s perfectly petite (and still on 25th percentile!) x

My little bean is small everywhere except for legs (duck knows where she got that from!), her head was below the 5th percentile (they weren't worried, because I'm small and have a small head) honestly it's probably just that you're small. If they were worried you'd have been referred to fetal medicine. Also factor in that the measurements are not wholly accurate! I've learnt pregnancy is one big guessing game lmao

Thanks for the new thread!

Been feeling so emotional the last few days. Was worried about reduced movements so went to triage and all was fine - midwife said there’s no real routine until 28 weeks anyway. Felt a bit embarrassed for going in tbh!

But still just can’t shake this feeling that something is wrong. I just want to burst into tears every 5 minutes. Hoping it’s just hormones and will settle soon 😞
