I’m hoping for a non medicated water birth, but just going to go with the flow and what will be will be. I just think the baby has to come out some way and that’s the end goal!

My plan with our first was completely unmediated etc, absolutely against an epidural… I ended up having a planned c-section and it was a wonderful experience. Aimed for a VBAC with our second just to give it a shot, cue prodromal labour for two full weeks and I was very happy to hit my post-term planned c-section I had booked in. This time around I’ve just booked the c-section. 😂

You can plan all you like but at the end of the day, the main thing is a healthy baby and a healthy (mentally and physically) mum. ❤

Am a diagnosed insomniac (treated with medication for the last 7 years) and have been fine with sleep up until about 28 weeks. But the moving from side to side, leg pains (not cramps weirdly, more like muscle pain) and baby movements mean I've not slept more than 3 hrs consecutively for about two weeks 😫 will wake up for about 10-15 minutes every 3 or so hours. Also means I don't have sufficient time to sleep off the medication so I'm extra groggy. If one more person says "wait til baby is here!" I may just snap 🥴 sat at my wfh desk considering just taking a sick day!
I’ve heard people say they’ve slept better with a new born than when they were pregnant so there is hope!

I have my 20 week scan this week. I can feel baby moving around daily but still feel a bit nervous about the abnormalities / development checks. Hoping all is good. My 12 week (when I was 14 weeks) all looked good and healthy and really good image - could see spine and brain etc.
Also finding out what we’re having which will be another big pregnancy milestone.
Current issue is achey legs! Jeez every morning it’s like I’ve run a marathon.

Two big things today - had my first Braxton Hicks contraction and bought the pram! Eeek.
We got ours too! What did you go for?

My partner has just been through my Vinted bargains and pointed out the baby has more up to 1 month sleepsuits than there are days in a month, oops

Worst thing is we don’t have many pram shops near us, we have a John Lewis (which is where I’m hoping to get baby’s pram from as they offer a payment plan) or a smyths which doesn’t have a great selection. All the decent shops seems to be 100+ miles away and I don’t drive 😅
We have a big baby shop about an hour away, but I think (?!) John Lewis has a fairly wide range, especially if it’s a big one, so you should get to try a few. We looked at the bugaboo donkey, the mountain buggy duet (with carrycot insert), the in and out jogging buggy (also side by side with option carry cot), and nearly went for the mountain buggy but looked at the iCandy peach duos on a whim and absolutely loved it, even though I definitely didn’t want a tandem. Pros for me was that it can be a single pram if toddler is at nursery, so don’t have to wrestle a double even if I only have one with me (bugaboo can too but it’s slightly wider), it fits easier in our boot than the mountain buggy or in and out, both of which took up most of our boot, which is huge (Volvo), it wasn’t actually much more expensive than the mountain buggy and £400 cheaper than the bugaboo, and the seat for the toddler was more comfortable than the bugaboo, and it had a built in buggy board, oh and it’s so pretty 😂 The mountain buggy and in and out were both good and very practical, were always a double, so no option to make smaller, and took up so much boot space bur if you live rurally would probably be excellent. I didn’t find the bugaboo good enough quality for the price, but people rave about them so probably just me!
Ickle bubba also do a side by side but we didn’t try that so can’t offer my review 😂

We popped into John Lewis today just to see some of the bigger purchases in person. Way too early to be making any purchases but I thought I'd be a nice trip and force me to be a bit more positive about things. But wow did the enormity of it all suddenly dawn on me. And the amount of choice is insane. Definitely a lot of research is needed.
It’s very daunting isn’t it! Things like bedside cribs imo are much of a muchness, so really budget and looks are your indicator.
Pram, for me the main thing is a) whether you live in a city so need something light and nippy, or live rurally so need something with big sturdy wheels, then the size it folds down for the car, and again price!
Car seats are all tested quite rigorously so they’ll be safe, so depends whether you want something that is stuck in the car (like a Joie 360) or that can go on your pram etc. my first hated her car seat, and so we never used the pram attachment, and got her a Joie 360 when she was 6 months or so, and with this one have gone straight for the same as it’s suitable from birth until about 3/4. Once you know which of those type would suit you better, then you can decide if your budget allows for spin isofix bases or car seats that lie flat etc - they all look lovely and the spin base is useful but it’s not essential.
Nursery furniture - 10/10 recommend John Lewis any day range, it’s affordable, good quality and they have a nice selection. Again it’s really not essential to have wardrobe and chest of drawers but nice if you have the space.
Things like bouncers/rockers/swings, we got a mamaroo and she hated it (£300 🤦🏼‍♀️) then got a £10 one off fisher price which she adored - more £££ isn’t necessarily better!
Then carrier, I found a carrier too big in the early days, and a stretchy wrap from Amazon pre-made into a t Shirt shape really useful and comfy until about 4 months at which point I switched to the carrier.
Sorry that was so long, and possibly unsolicited, but I remember feeling so dazed and daunted and I spent SO much money with my first, aside from a new pram and car seat, I’ve been much more restrained because at the end of the day as long as they have something to travel in, something to wear and something to sleep in, everything else is a bonus depending on your space/finances etc xx

Mine said if anything showed up I would get a phone call within 3 days or if all fine I would get a letter, which came a week later! I announced the day of the scan I couldn’t wait 🙈
Mine said the same. Basically no news is good news.

All the discussion on stuff to buy is sooo helpful! I'm the first of my friends to have a baby and all the babies in my family are now grumpy teenagers and above lol so I don't really have anyone who's having or just had children to ask.

There's a pram discount shop in south Wales where I live so going to try and visit that I think but will wait for my 20 week scan which should be mid October. I haven't made any purchases after a past miscarriage because I don't want to jinx it 🙈

Does anyone else utterly cringe at "Hey mama" culture? I'm trying to read informative blogs and they throw that phrase in there and I just can't continue, I've died from cringe.
Yep it’s awful. I try and stay away from it 😆

while I slept, husband put together furniture and I’ve woken up to a nursery that’s looking like a little boys bedroom. So nice having all his clothes in one place and not shattered around the house. Definitely feeling very real now.

Before I buy the TT twist and click nappy bin, has anyone found an alternative?

10 weeks + 1 today!! I thught i would never make it this far. Still nervous. Got my NIPT today....did anyone buy a doppler and hear anything at 10 weeks?
I wouldn’t buy a Doppler, they strongly recommend against it here as it can be hard to get the placement right and here the heartbeat rather than the placenta etc and causes more concern as you don’t know what you’re listening for
---
Nooooo! I keep an emergency stash in my work handbag and car glovebox - do you have any hidden around the place?
Nope but I’m going to start doing that!!

32 weeks now and while I’m 100% ready to not be pregnant anymore I still don’t feel ready to have a baby 🙃
I am so disappointed(??) with my pregnancy experience, I’ve had it much easier than most but I’ve found it so hard!
anyone else struggling through??

Got my 12 week scan on Tuesday, not been feeling too nervous until the last few days and now I can’t stop thinking about all the bad outcomes rather than the good ones 😩

Fatigue has hit me like a ton of bricks this week and my acid reflux has made a return since magically disappearing two weeks ago. I've never felt so tired. I wonder if the weather is affecting me too. Work is draining me mentally and physically, I can't wait to finish now. I'm also feeling overwhelmed about actually having to give birth and look after a baby 🙈 I've wanted a baby for so long and it took a while TTC so I feel guilty now for feeling like I'm unprepared all of a sudden.
I’m at this point too. It took us 14 cycles to get this kiddo and I’m now at the stage of “take him back, I’m not ready”. I think most, if not everyone, gets those feelings. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, do something you enjoy that will take your mind off baby for a little while.

Ladies I almost committed murder this morning, my darling husband who usually isn't as much of an idiot had a moment of insanity this morning and said I complain a lot about being tired. When I mean i almost murdered him right there and then. What causes them to be so stupid 😂😂 hopefully he will make it through the night

They’re right in that you can say no to anything you want to. You can go give birth in your garden shed if you like. There’s some women on the PBC group and others who are happy to go 44 weeks before even considering anything else, I’ve got to say the risk of stillbirth is unacceptably high for me at that gestation and not worth a birth experience. I know I probably ended up with a shitty birth because I got induced but I was 41+5 and there was no sign of anything and having known friends of friends have stillbirths at late gestations I wasn’t willing to risk it.
I remember reading a group on Facebook there was a lady who was 44 weeks and refusing everything i think she wanted a home birth. There was lots of arguments between posters and what was safe and people who said it wasn’t got kicked from the group. She went onto have a still born. Obviously maybe not caused by gestation but non the less it’s still a horrific situation.

Can anyone relate? I'm 29 weeks and I can't stop feeling down about the fact that soon it's no longer just going to be me and my partner. I'm feeling sad that the chapter of just us 2 is almost over.
Don't get me wrong I cannot wait for our little baby to be here but I can't shake the feeling of sadness when it comes to thinking it'll no longer be the 2 of us❤👫
My husband and I celebrated our 20th anniversary while I was pregnant and we've been together since we were 15, so it's been odd adjusting to all those years of just us and now suddenly there's someone else in the mix! I'd suggest trying to savour moments with just the two of you before baby arrives (date nights, cuddles on the sofa, a couple of nights away maybe) and make sure you both tell each other regularly how much you mean to each other, and reminisce about adventures you've had together. Life now there's three of us is wonderful and we adore our son, but it's very different to before because our priority has had to shift from each other to our baby, and currently we barely get any quality time together which is tough, but we know will be easier when baby is a bit older. I think it also helps to be excited about things you've done/places you've been and the thought of taking baby to do/see those things as it's a nice way to adjust to welcoming them into your life as it is now, rather than feeling you have to stop doing everything you love and being who you are the second they arrive. If your sadness turns into something stronger then reach out to your midwife and they can refer you for support to cope with your changing emotions ❤

Yep we’ve got ours 99% picked…Clementine. We have a Florence already.

Back ups in case she comes out not looking like a Clemmie are Margot (which I love but DH’s family
Are broad Yorkshire and it sounds dire in their accent), Ivy and Imogen.

We have one boy name which was a worry but is now fine because we’ve got our two girls and I only want one more.
