I’m 26 weeks, I’ll be having baby between 34-37 weeks as he is unwell and will need surgery immediately after birth. I really don’t want a c-section, does anyone have any tips on things I can do to help me be able to deliver naturally? I’m not sure if there is anything I can do but I’m desperate for a smooth natural Labour if any of you lovely ladies have any tips 🤞🏼 x
I’m so sorry to hear about baby being unwell. Unfortunately with a natural labour you will have no control over what your body does but I’d suggest investing in a hypnobirthing class to help with breathing exercises etc and that will give you some sense of control. Also try not to get hung up on a birth plan and try to keep an open mind x

I’m about to pop the kettle on for a coffee. Hoping caffeine will make him bounce a bit more 🤞
I have been to MAU today to check movements. They were fine. I do think it’s the heat but maternity assessment won’t judge you if you need to get in touch

I haven't bought any newborn yet, just 0-3 months but now I'm thinking I'd better get some newborn just in case 🙈 it's hard to know what size they are going to fit into.

Sometimes I feel so unprepared it's unreal.

Oh wow! What week are you on? Was it emotional or just happy to be stopping now?
i’m 35+3 today, had some annual leave to take and want to try and have a bit of rest (day naps) before baby arrives. Although also got a list a mile long of things I need to do between now and her arrival 🤣 Imm having a section so all being well I’ll have 3 weeks until she’s here!

It was quite emotional, I’ll miss my team but I am starting to struggle a bit now with lack of sleep and feeling uncomfortable so think it is the right time to finish for me.

Sat here watching my tummy move and just can't believe I've been pregnant for 199 days. So weird to think about!

27-32 weeks! Does anyone else feel like once you get past about 25 weeks everything starts to speed up?

Thank you for sharing - the story on the homepage has made me have a little cry so if anyone is feeling extra emotional at the moment it might be worth skipping straight to the pages about what GBS is and how to order a test ❤
You're welcome. It's a friend of a friend who set this up so feels quite close. Charity is named after her little boy 💙

I’m due December and would like to wash the clothes while the weathers dry, but will they be okay in the drawers until December or will I need to wash them again to freshen them up?
I’ve washed everything and will put the newborn and 0-3 on the clothes horse to air it before he arrives. Maybe a sniff test nearer the time?

Im almost there with the nursery. We’ve been lucky enough to have a few secondhand bits gifted so I’m picking those up in a week or two, and then i think we’re done 😬 I’m due at Christmas so I’ve got a while to go still, but I’ve been slowing down a lot, so im doing things while I have energy.

Oh, the other thing I’ve done this week is make a list of things I want in the fridge when I return from hospital. It mainly consists of red wine, cheeses and pate.

Had my 28 week appointment today, everything all good! She measured my bump and everything seems to be growing perfectly
When she was feeling around for baby’s position she let me touch and I felt it’s knee and back! So strange but amazing🙈

Oh wow I’m due in January and I’ve done nothing 😅
20 week scan on Friday and once all is well I plan to make a real start. Could I ask what sort of practical things have you focussed on sorting?
i have The Nest book which is handy but like hearing from other “real” people to get ideas.
if it makes you/anybody else feel better im due early jan and have done nothing :ROFLMAO:

my mum has been washing the baby clothes we've bought while it's warm and i have a baby bath and beside me crib... all sitting in my hallway as the room it all needs to go in is a shambles. choosing a pram and a car seat is hurting my brain - made the giant mistake of joining a car seat group on facebook to see what's what... and apparently almost every single car seat isn't good enough and no babies are ever strapped in correctly 😑

Going to book in for an early scan in a few weeks. I think I'm around 4 weeks today. I can't believe I will see what will be my future child this month!!!

Insomnia is back in full effect 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m also assuming I’ve not got GD and I’ve not heard from anyone, so that’s a nice bonus. Shall continue eating the mince pies I bought on a whim 😄

I only heard negative stories whilst pregnant and it really upset me. Afterwards, friends who had had positive experiences told me their stories and said they weren't comfortable sharing the details around people who hadn't had postivie experiences.
Funny isn’t it! As it wasn’t until after mine that one of my friends really went into detail about hers(a negative experience unfortunately). I asked why she never told me and she said she didn’t want to put me off as it’s put her off having a second! And hearing her full story really helped as I thought I was going mad with all the thoughts I was having about mine.

it’s good to be open minded and prepare for anything. My hospital release a birth stats each month and last month almost 25% of births ended in emergency caesarean which in hindsight I could have prepared myself even a little for it being a possibility. I was too busy listening to the midwife only talk about vaginal births and ‘planning’ for that

Not heard back about GTT or iron blood test so guessing I'm in the clear! Was told Wednesday morning at the latest if it was bad news. Very pleased as would hate giving up my coco pops 😆

had my 20 week scan yesterday! sonographer was nice enough but quite dismissive i felt, like when i said i thought baby was a boy (had an early scan due to worries) she was like oh right yeah pretty sure its a boy then moved on. it wasn't the reassuring scan i wanted - i do understand it's for measurements and i'm SO happy all seemed fine but there were no comforting words just.. yeah looks alright??

also, did anybody obsess over the little scales in the chart for the scan? baby is measuring like 25th perc on most (except belly lol way over) - should i be worried? (yes this is why im up at 4am )

ALSO i too am petite and having a nightmare with clothes, its all enormous if you look for maternity when 5ft!!!! all i managed to buy so far is a stretchy dress in primark in a size up so far :cautious:

I’ve got a few more months but being in the Ber months has jolted me into reality now. Baby monitor turned up early this morning, so I’ve been playing with that and it dawned on me that I’m going to be so reliant on it to make sure I don’t kill my kid - much neurotic fun.
Me too now it’s September I can officially say only 3 more months to go😳 we’ve got so much work to do in the house before we can sort the baby’s room I’m stressed 🥲 I know it doesn’t really need to be done completely as they won’t be in it until 6 months but I would rather get it done now than when baby’s here!!

They’re right in that you can say no to anything you want to. You can go give birth in your garden shed if you like. There’s some women on the PBC group and others who are happy to go 44 weeks before even considering anything else, I’ve got to say the risk of stillbirth is unacceptably high for me at that gestation and not worth a birth experience. I know I probably ended up with a shitty birth because I got induced but I was 41+5 and there was no sign of anything and having known friends of friends have stillbirths at late gestations I wasn’t willing to risk it.
Sorry edited to add a TW

I'm booked in for an elective c-section after a traumatic birth with my first born. 7 weeks away now 😬
I’ve heard elective c sections are so calm and peaceful. My friend who had a very traumatic first birth found her elective Csection very healing mentally.
