Has anyone had experience with baby measuring/being big? What do they offer in terms of labour?

I’m 32 weeks and waiting on my next growth scan, but I’m terrified of the idea that I could end up two weeks overdue and have to push out a 12lbs+ baby vaginally. I mentioned this at my antenatal class and asked whether this is one of the times a caesarean might be suggested, and she was absolutely horrified at the idea and totally shot me down!
I’m having a growth scan tomorrow at 36+3 weeks because I’m measuring big. If you’re concerned definitely make your feelings heard and ask to see a consultant regarding the possibility of a c-section, or to get their opinion in general.

It depends what is classed as "big"
Because what is high percentile for you, will be a different percentile for someone else.
My baby this time around was measuring 95th+ percentile. But they weren't bothered it meant she was estimated at over 10lbs . 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think they tend to offer an induction at 39/40 weeks if that is the case though

Is your antenatal class NCT?

my neighbour had a 10lber and she was recommended a C-section as her first was also 10lb and they’d had to dislocate his shoulder to get him out or whatever the correct term is.
So yes you may find (depending on your antenatal care team) that they discuss a C-section delivery with you x

Warning for TMI (sorry)

I'm almost 6 weeks and have been taking the Pregnacare Plus supplements for the past 2 weeks since I found out I'm pregnant. Has anyone experienced these supplements (or any folic acid / iron supplements) turning their poop black? It's only been in the last week or so, feeling absolutely fine otherwise and Google is typically terrifying about this so I'm just wondering if anyone has had the same happen?
Black poop could be the iron, if it is then it’s nothing to worry about as it’s literally just your body expelling the iron it doesn’t need

Iron would be the culprit rather than folic acid, usually black stool would result from iron tablets rather than iron as part of a multivitamin, but it doesnt mean it wont have caused it! I had to take ferrous sulphate after my daughter was born and it happened to me. You could always speak with gp just for reassurance

Who would’ve thought someone who isn’t carrying my baby could have such an opinion over whether he comes out vaginally or the sunroof!
Wasn’t aware that when induction isn’t working I should ignore doctors advice (and my own gut feeling) & wait to go into labour potentially endangering us both! 🤯
I’d LOVE a beautiful water birth but it isn’t likely to happen. That’s life and I’m glad I’m taking some control back over his birth.
Why are some mother in laws like this??
“the recovery will be horrific” “she won’t be able to do anything” “why don’t you just wait longer”
thank U!! For the support and encouragement dear MIL 🙂🙂👍🏼👍🏼

I quickly learned since having my first baby that MILs are full of talk (especially about how their son did this that and the other) and it's best to just nod and smile and then do whatever you were going to in the first place! Ignore her. Your baby, your birth, YOUR decision 💖

Your body, your baby, your decision.
If you chose to wait to see like she is suggesting and then there was an issue she would say 'why didn't you push for a section'. You'll never win.
I don't know why some people are so opposed to a c-section. My MIL is the same. Other issues I've spoke about (I'm a difficult patient to get an LP in so it'll be a struggle for epidural access), she's said "good job you don't want that then" when I haven't even made the decision about an epidural myself yet.
I swear some MIL are a different breed

This is what I need to keep repeating to myself! I can’t wait until she finds out I’m not breastfeeding either 😆 Thank you! ❤

Oh yes she sounds just like my MIL. I ended up expressing for 6 months but even that wasn't good enough for her, but it helped me out because it meant my partner could get involved in the night feeds. You do whatever suits you and makes your life easier. Don't worry about others opinions, whatever you decide will be best for your bubba x

For me this is my Mother 😆 she’s constantly saying “don’t have an epidural, don’t have a c-section, make sure you breast feed, I’ll show you how” I just don’t listen and tell her I’ll do what’s best for me and the baby!
My MIL has been ok, she has had 4 kids and the only thing she says to me is listen to the midwives because she didn’t for the first 3 and wouldn’t even let them touch her as she hates being touched 😅 her last went much better because she complied with the midwives lol

My MIL was constantly going on about how women who have epidurals are wusses 🙃
And how much her sister is a wuss because she had one.
And she's had 3 kids and never had one.
So when I asked for an epidural after being in the drip with my second, I dreaded my partner telling her!

Has anybody got any cheaper alternatives to the babyzen yoyo? I’m looking for a holiday pram when baby will be 12 weeks old but can’t really afford £500+!

My MIL had an opinion on breastfeeding and that I should formula feed. Sometimes they just talk purely based on their own experience (usually about 30 years ago!) and have zero understanding of what they’re talking about.

Lol, had she ever been put on that drip?!

My MW was begging me to get an epidural. It’s absolutely brutal!

Have you looked at any pre-loved sites? Surprised there isn’t some kind of hire company for holiday pushchairs tbh.

I second looking at hire companies - see if there’s any local to you. Some do baby yo-yo & the jools cabin size buggy to rent.
Or local forums for a second hand one people might be selling.
I can’t get over how expensive buggies are 😂

My MIL is so anti c section but I really don't care what she thinks and I'd be minded to tell her that if I do end up in a position where I have one. All that matters is baby and mum are safe, however that outcome is reached doesn't matter!

Nope!
She was induced but only pessary.
Exactly the same as I was with my first. But that drip is something else 🤣
So she has no idea 😂

Mine has been measuring about a week ahead throughout. I was offered induction at 39 weeks which I’ve turned down in favour of elective.

Just this morning mine sat and told me not to listen to the six month weaning advice and that she gave my partner solids from two months and it “didn’t do him any harm.” He literally has ARFID and there’s only about five things he’ll eat. I think it did do him some harm hun😭😂
