Hardly mumsnett-y. People are giving out unsafe advice as it is regarding reduced movements. No shame to any first time mums, but you shouldn't be taking advice on a forum as gospel, it's what triage is for.

You don't pretend to be a midwife on a pregnancy thread - it's sick. Especially when you've previously said what your supposed job is.
What was the unsafe advice regarding reduced movements? As far as I’ve seen everyone has recommended anyone with reduced movements to be seen immediately…

I believe they're referring to previous advice that someone repeatedly gave saying "Baby is just running out of room"

Looking through Lucy’s open cupboards previous messages, they only started commenting on this thread a couple of weeks ago and most comments have been pretty rough, as are their comments on other parenting threads.. going out of their way twice to comment on Nayloves abs in both this thread and the new mum thread.. telling another parents to pipe down and to stop bragging.. that’s not the sort of person I’d be wanting advice from on this thread.
Hopefully we can move on from the snarky comments made over the past few days and get back to the normal supportive thread that it is :)

I think most people on here have common sense to not take advice from strangers on a forum as gospel anyway, just as you would with advice from friends and family!

Prior comments aside though - that comment wasn’t an unreasonable one.

Positive induction stories please? Baby cheese is getting their eviction notice in 2 weeks time... Eeep.
My first was an induction, they put the hormone in at lunchtime and he was here at 9:42pm! They’d told me not to expect him until the next day, being my first, small baby and an induction but he proved them wrong haha.
They didn’t believe me when I said I felt the urge to push though, but I insisted I really did and they checked me and I’d suddenly gone from 4cm to 9! Next thing my legs were in stirrups and he arrived soon after.
Good luck :)

It wasn’t if it’s true fair enough. Let the person who posted it come on first and see what they have to say for themselves though.

People are judging because it was only yesterday the same person was pretty much picking at someone else’s posts even though the said person apologised and yes the prior posts do speak for themselves. The past two days there has been a pattern and it takes away the support this thread can bring.

Maybe we should have a rule that nobody gives advice, midwife or not. I’ve seen duff advice from regular posters on here, particularly over the last few days, especially when advice differs from trust to trust and you get people saying things like “you can drink water on your GD test”, which someone then subsequently said they weren’t even supposed to brush their teeth.

Given her previous savage comments I find it hypocritical for her to tell someone to not troll the thread. Also, the OP hasn’t come onto defend herself, so nobody knows the actual story.

Point is, all of these snappy posts are a waste of time on what is usually a nice thread.

I think I’d rather a planned C section than an ECV, as I’ve read ECVs can be very uncomfortable and are 50/50 as to whether it’ll work! Plus I have to admit that having a scheduled time and date for the birth would be nice, especially when sorting childcare for my eldest! 😅
Hey @imtakingabath , how did your scan go? Hope all is ok.

I don’t think we need to say no advice but use your own judgement when taking advice from others - checking with your trust about what is acceptable for a GTT or when to call about reduce movements for example, as like you say every trust is different which makes it hard to know you’re saying the correct thing anyway. We are all just trying to find little ways to muddle our way through pregnancy and not end up down a Google hole.

Please can someone help me with really bad heartburn though 😅 it’s got so bad in the last few days, every time I eat it just burns and I feel so acid-y. Overnight has been the hardest 😭 I’m taking Gaviscon as and when I need to but does anyone else have any tips? I did try a glass of milk but not sure that did much 🫠

I don’t know if I’m allowed to say but omeprazole worked for me
I told the GP receptionist I didn’t even want an appointment just call me once it was prescribed 😂

I mean it’s an largely an advice thread so you’re gonna struggle to not do so. It’s only natural if someone has reduced movements to want to encourage them to be seen. Would you prefer everyone just continued with the “drink a cold drink!”. There can be a huge cost to stuff like this so people who have been there before are going to want to help. I have no idea about the posters prior comments as I don’t have the time nor the inclination to track someone’s posting history. However in this instance, she was spot on.

People aren’t using their common sense on here anymore & taking things too literally.
I think @themuffinwoman meant any health advice that is specific to each individual trust, not general advice over things to buy / when will they start taking blood tests, what places did people like for private scans etc (as examples)

No longer pregnant but lurking because apparently this thread is where all the drama is tonight. And I just wanted to say that when I was pregnant someone on here suggested love heart sweets and I have no idea why but they definitely helped for some reason

To be fair I was also told I can drink water before GD test, like you say it just differs depending on trust.

Thank you I’ve seen others saying about omeprazole! I may have to call tomorrow and see what they say. It’s doing my head in now 🤣

I second the omeprazole 😊 definitely worth asking your midwife about if you’re struggling!
