We had a birth debrief afterwards and the consultant said she would support a C-section for my next birth. Both me and my husband had a lot of trauma after it, I was separated from my baby for a while and didn't get to give her her first feed until 4hrs after she was born! So for both me and my husband a C-section is better for us. I was also 12 days overdue so knowing the day would be nice 🤣 my friend also had a 3rd degree tear but overall a positive birth experience so is going for vaginal for her second, it's a very personal decision. I have said to my husband though I wish he could take a turn for the 2nd baby!
I’m so sorry you went through that. Being separated from your baby must have been horrible. Sorry if my post came across like you needed to defend your decision, that wasn’t my intention at all. It’s a hard decision to make either way, if I opt for vaginal I might have to be induced early, depending on a growth scan. I really don’t want another induction although I’m sure it will be very different to my first. If I have a c section at least I can plan proper childcare and prepare my daughter who is going to struggle as she’s never been away from me before. But then there is the definite recovery time where as I might recover quicker this time from my induction.

I actually spoke to the perinatal mental health team today and they’ve booked me in for a psychologist home visit next Friday, so hopefully I can get all these spiralling thoughts out of my head. Also really wish I hadn’t watched House of the Dragon 🤣

I've got severe scanxiety for my anatomy scan tomorrow 😱 haven't had an ultrasound since 8w so I feel like anything could be going on in there!

Oh my goodness, I was going to come here and say the same thing - did they really need *another* birth scene in HotD?! 🙈

Really didn’t. But they removed all the grape scenes like they had in GOT so had to get in a way of woman's suffering for the male viewers. That episode absolutely should have had a content warning!

Not at all! It's a really hard decision to make so I hope the psychologist can help your anxiety and spiralling thoughts. ❤

I’m 8 weeks today and have noticed some spotting. It’s light pink and only a bit on the tissue after I’ve been to the loo, not needed to wear a pad/liner or anything. The earliest the early pregnancy unit can see me is tomorrow afternoon and I’m panicking so much. I’m still being sick so hoping that’s a good sign too☹

I had the same a couple of weeks ago and they couldn't see me until the morning either. But I took that as a good sign, if they were worried they'd send me to A and E (they did say if got heavier to go in). I know it's easier said than done but try and relax and I'm sure it's absolutely nothing - mine was caused by a polyp!

I had bleeding for a good two weeks solid. And I was told unless the bleeding is filling multiple pads then to try not to stress xx

A few pages back I had the same thing although I’m not as far along as you and was reassured. I’ve had more of the same today but my symptoms have continued. I think you can take reassurance that you’re still being sick (as rubbish as that is). I hope everything is okay for your scan tomorrow 💕 all signs point towards everything being okay x

I had some light pink spotting at around 7-8 weeks and the maternity team said it wasn't a concern at all when I rang them - the NHS website says it can be caused by deeper implantation into the womb lining and is nothing to worry about unless it gets more frequent or more red 🙂

Deffo not, I didn’t even notice mine had gone until my friend told me they had when she examined me!
(for clarity - my friend is a midwife and looked after me in labour, we don’t just have a really weird relationship)

Mine never went! Well they had to be broken for me in the end to speed things up, but I had visions of them gushing while I was at work or in Tesco!! 😩😩 they don’t always break when you go into labour x

I haven’t seen the scene but when mine leaked it was such a like nothing event because they only trickled at first… my husband didn’t believe me and was adamant I’d wet myself and so wouldn’t ring the midwife 😂
So I rang her and she said IF it was my waters it didn’t mean anything was going to happen. Not very exciting at all!

Haven't seen it but its never how it's portrayed in movies and TV 😂

I was fully expecting to be told I was peeing myself when I went to get checked. That's how little it was.
It's also not as common as you think for them to go themselves 😊

I’m trying to research c-sections and if I can give anyone advice, please DO NOT visit midwifery.org.uk absolutely horrendous - I’m not even that sensitive but now I want to get the whole site cancelled.

ETA

I think the first couple of first hand stories they have on there should be removed or moved to the bottom as they are SO negative and alarmist - they really upset me! There’s not much balance to them tbh, so word of warning!
Someone on here posted this a while back which I found helpful: https://www.rcog.org.uk/media/41jdfprf/considering-a-caesarean-birth-patient-information-leaflet.pdf

I elected for one this time and I must admit I’ve found / finding recovery hard. But equally it has its positives in other ways!

Not seen it but mine was pretty bad. I had to stand in the bath for a while and basically just had to keep changing knickers and leggings and sitting on bed pads for quite a long time, I think they stopped after about 6 hours or so. I had a lot of water.
