My little ones name has very little chance of being stolen since nobody likes it
win win
I had this with my sister last weekend. There was no let up in the end I had to just tell her I liked talking about other things than the baby and she stopped. It’s her whole personality right nowCould I have some advice please as I never know what to do in these situations- I’ve got a friend who only talks to me about my pregnancy and the baby, and it’s getting really irritating. I know she’s just trying to be nice and as much as I like talking about it, she always frames everything in my life around my pregnancy and baby which annoys me. I asked her about her house, she answered and then asked me about the baby. I told her something about work, she called me a “multitasking mama”, which I found very patronising. Again, she’s being nice but I’m not one of those people who is obsessed with babies, obviously I will be with my own but generally I like talking about things other than being pregnant and she’s the only friend of mine who does this, she’s got a baby but even my other friends with babies aren’t like this.
How do I tell her I wanna talk about things other than my pregnancy without offending her?
Was she ok or was she offended?I had this with my sister last weekend. There was no let up in the end I had to just tell her I liked talking about other things than the baby and she stopped. It’s her whole personality right now
Literally! Ours have both got names quite high up the top 100 but they’ve never had another in their class/ year! Funny how it goes isn’t it xWe picked a name for our son that was way down in the top 100, because I didn't want him to be one of 4 of the same in his class.
There's another in his year, and this year when they mixed the classes up they've ended up in the same class.
So with this one we're ignoring the charts and just going with something we like.
No she wasn’t offended at all. She had a little reality check. Now it wasn’t long before she was back talking about babies but she’d be rather intense anywayWas she ok or was she offended?
Almost everyone I’ve told except her hasn’t treated me any differently which is exactly what I want. I’m really keen for my personality not to just be “mum”. It’s the most important thing I’ll ever do but I don’t want it to be the sole thing that defines me.
I had this when pregnant with a bunch of friends event. In the end I went mute, smile and nod kind of thing, and left when I could. The only people who spoke to me about other things were the people who I had told beforehand that I was sick of talking about it. Just say you are finding all the baby talk exhausting and it's making your mind race. You want to chill and switch off from it for a while.Could I have some advice please as I never know what to do in these situations- I’ve got a friend who only talks to me about my pregnancy and the baby, and it’s getting really irritating. My friend has this turns out her friends was trying for a baby and that’s why she was so interested in every symptom, birth etc. She used to joke a bit at first with her being like enough about me i feel it’s all we talk about I want to hear about you etc and she got the picture. Sometimes she would still ask pregnancy stuff but my friend would answer briefly and then change the conversation onto something elseCould I have some advice please as I never know what to do in these situations- I’ve got a friend who only talks to me about my pregnancy and the baby, and it’s getting really irritating. I went and washed my hair when my early contractions started and I’m bloody glad I did!Woke up at 2 for a wee and had more of a ‘bloody show’ so I’ve been wide awake ever since, convinced I’m going into labour any minuteobviously not happening. Half of me knows I should really try going back to sleep but also desperate to gut the house again and wash my hair in case I do go into labour today
probably still be pregnant this time next week! Honestly this last week or two is such a mind duck, feel like I’m constantly holding my breath waiting for labour to start

Honestly, the bbhugme is the best purchase I made all year. I don’t think il ever sleep without it.Hi all! Can anyone recommend a pregnancy pillow they love? Been looking at the Bella Moon, I like that it can be used as a nursing pillow/sit up aid when baby is here too but it’s on the expensive side. I wouldn’t mind paying the money if it was going to be amazing, but reviews are really mixed! Thank you.![]()
This breaks my heart it reminds me of my first birth. I hope you’re ok. I’m just catching up on the thread xx2 days of labour and no sleep, panic attacks, being the only woman in an 8 bed ward who had actually given birth, couldn’t stand properly because of epidural (fell over) wet myself standing up in front a a nurse who didn’t do anything, could barely walk because of my episiotomy, couldn’t bend down to go to the toilet, was dripping blood everywhere, passing wind without any control, somehow learning to breastfeed, change nappies, dress the baby while I could barely move myself and was always sobbing. The noise on the ward, the lights being kept on until 11pm, night checks at 4am, a woman snapping at me to feed my baby properly, my husband only visiting for half an hour. No privacy, the curtains kept being pulled open.
CongratulationsBaby shadow was born this morning at 35 weeks, he’s absolutely tiny at 4lb & I’m so overwhelmed, I can’t believe he’s here![]()
Did it with my first as well, can’t bear the thought of going to the hospital with unwashed hairI went and washed my hair when my early contractions started and I’m bloody glad I did!![]()
My SIL has lent me hers, she used it when pregnant but not really for feeding. I was looking for a spare cover on Vinted and there are some pillows available, might be worth looking into. I really like it as I've been trying to sleep with a pillow between my knees for a while (even before I was pregnant) and it kept ending up on the floor.Hi all! I did want to come and give you all the details of how my labour started and baby was born but I just can’t even bring myself to talk about it and tbh I don’t want to upset anyone. I’ve been offered counselling and a debrief at the hospital. We’re home and ok and that’s all that matters
Congratulations![]()
