I watched it before I had my first. I also shut my eyes at the gruesome bitsHas anyone watched one born every minute?
is it worth watching or is it going to scare the hell out of me? (FTM)
I’ve watched it for years and I’ve always loved it. We’ve been watching some of the Australian series these past few weeks and it’s good. I can’t tell you if it’ll scare you or not but it doesn’t scare me. It helps me to see all the different things that can happen in birth, good and bad. Helps me to see that everyone handles it differently. I like to know things to feel in control, I think seeing a lot of births makes me feel better.Has anyone watched one born every minute?

I’d avoid it. There’s some nice stories on there but everything is amped up for drama with high stakes so make you worried about the baby and mums welfare! I’m watching positive birth videos on YouTubeHas anyone watched one born every minute?

10-11 weeks. I think I got lucky! When did everyones sickness stop? (if it has!) I'm almost 14 weeks and still being sick every day and have the worst food aversions. Really struggling to eat a proper meal![]()
Do they show literally everything, gore and all? I'm not squeamish but just interested... never watched the show but think I might watch a few episodes for education!I’ve watched it for years and I’ve always loved it. I think il watch one and see how it goes, it’s reality and I think that’s what I need to be better prepared for giving birthSo glad I’m not the only one huffing and puffing. Sometimes I sit down and wonder if I will ever rise again
I watched it before I had my first. I also shut my eyes at the gruesome bitsit is interesting, but not necessarily very factual! I say give it a bash!
I can’t find many positive birth videos if I’m honest, their mainly American which puts me offI’d avoid it. There’s some nice stories on there but everything is amped up for drama with high stakes so make you worried about the baby and mums welfare! I’m watching positive birth videos on YouTube
They show the baby coming out with the tina blurred. I don’t think they’ve ever shown tearing. Only show blood on baby when they come out and they’re covered in all the gunk and blood.Do they show literally everything, gore and all? When I was pregnant with my daughter I was obsessed and I watched it all the timeDo they show literally everything, gore and all? I'm not squeamish but just interested... never watched the show but think I might watch a few episodes for education!
Thanks will do. I've seen a few birth videos online and while emotional I find them mostly very rose-tinted and a bit hippyish for want of a better word... Like they're all 'ooh it was such an amazing empowering experience' which I get is a lovely thing but I also feel like I need to see the more weird practical side to know what I could be in forThey show the baby coming out with the tina blurred. I like learning things from it like if the baby does a poo before / during labour what that can mean. I feel like if it came up in my labour I’d be less scared from feeling ignorant, I’d feel at least like I understand what that means and the consequences etc
Give it a go! Turn it straight off if it’s not for you.
It is so different for everyone, and every pregnancy. I still have mine now at 25 weeks, it finished at 28 weeks last time, and my first two pregnancies didn’t go past 11 weeks. It’s so hard, have you considered asking for anti sickness medication? Mine takes the edge off so I can function a bit better. When did everyones sickness stop? (if it has!) There was a show on BBC2 a while ago called The Baby Has Landed which showed the families whole journey from pregnancy, birth and then filmed them at home. I found it really interesting and learnt a lot from it!Maybe cos I work in a hospital I don’t need to see the medicalised weird side of it - I already started off thinking birth was dicey and dangerous so the rose-tinted natural version is the side I need to see more of!
You kinda forget how tit the tit bits are after a whileYeah I think I will ask about medication because I’m finding it hard to function some days. I was worrying that I’m not giving the baby enough nutrients but after looking on the NHS website I don’t feel too concerned now. I honestly have the biggest admiration for people who do this more than once![]()
