The execs and the marketing team at ITV/This Morning are truly fucked up and are deliberately antagonising their readers/viewers by posting that birthday message to Philth. They know the reaction it’ll garner given how they’ve turned the comments to this post off. Don’t believe for one minute they’ll ever take matters into their own hands and sack Schofield off. They’d have to be strong-armed by a third party (the public, the press and McGreevy) to take this decision.

It’s been established in the past week that Phil at the very best, is a Nonce enabler. He didn’t report his brother’s perverted antics to the police, despite sitting on a confession. ITV are publicly displaying their support for this man. This reflects the type of company that the broadcaster keeps and is reflective of their toxic backstage culture.

In my opinion, the problem runs much deeper than Schofield. How many scandals have ITV covered up that have erupted in their quarters, by simply holding out long enough, in hope people will forget and move on? Coleen v. Kim Woodburn on Loose Women in 2018, Queuegate, people are calling for the current Coronation Street producer to be sacked because of the misery porn he’s inflicting on viewers but he’s gone on to be the show’s longest serving producer despite ratings and the show’s quality being at an all-time low, Lorraine the actress, all the dramas backstage with the Emmerdale cast, the suicides caused by a lack of aftercare on Love Island, Ant’s drink driving. The list is tantamount to endless.
