I've gained 10 pounds and it all seems to be boobs, hips and arse. I've gone until 46 years of years having the hips and arse of a teenage boy, and now suddenly I've got a fat ass? What?
46 seems to be the age for a lot of people when it happens. I was naturally slim until 46. Then without eating more or doing less my boobs and belly just grew.
And then fatigue and depression kicked in so I couldn't be arsed to do anything about it.

I have a new found acceptance and gentleness of my lower belly which has always been more Rubenesque whether I’m a 10, 12 or 14. Now knowing I have adenomyosis, understanding the actual body parts that make the shape and knowing I need to treat them with kindness has made me feel really forgiving of myself for my natural (not going to the gym but regularly swimming) shape.

For me the very worst part of peri menopause has been the driving anxiety. I’ve never been a confident driver but now it’s hell.
I have to drive too. No choice. Some days I can’t eat with the worry I’m so scared.
I gave up driving altogether because of it so you are bloody amazing to keep going x

I am struggling with perimenopause, I won't use HRT for Health reasons, have started weight training and using collagen. What else do people swear by getting through that's natural - I've just quit my job of 20 years as struggling to cope with everyday stresses on top of feeling like I have every symptom going

I have always been like this, one of the few things I can't blame on peri!
My body image has never been great, but peri (and probably actual early meno now) has taken it to new depths.

I can't look at pictures of myself from 10-15 years ago, when I was thin and confident with fashion.

I am almost 42, pretty sure in peri. Went to GP as I am struggling with mood swings, hair thinning and loss and terrible terrible night sweats. He said I am far too young and suggested the pill or Prozac and to come back when I am 51. (I insisted on a referral and I am awaiting an appt).

I did start Prozac and cured night sweats completely, but had rendered me an insomniac. Anyway, I saw no dairy can help, any other suggestions to ease the sweating or hair loss? It’s properly affecting me.
best advice is to see a different doctor. 51 is way too late!! HRT has really helped my hot flushes and sweats

I’m so sorry for everyone else going through this bs. It’s so shit that you only really become aware of it when you’re actually in it. I hope the next generation are more informed and aware ❤

I was prescribed these today. Hoping for a positive outcome from them - is anyone else on them?

I didn’t know this thread existed! 🙏🏼

Just been prescribed HRT patches and told to stay on the pill, I’m on MicroLite, and I googled it (I know I know, asking for trouble!) and it said you can’t take both…anyone else on both and still alive? 😅😅😅
No wonder we're all in a mess. Ladies there seems to be ZERO consistency, joined up thinking or follow through. Is anyone having success or at least HELPFUL advice, that doesn't involve going around the house of GPs that don't listen 🤔

I genuinely think in 10 years time, we're gonna kick ourselves for not looking into this sooner.

I find I’ve got little capacity for any activity that I don’t find easy these days. I walked the dog and ended up having to walk uphill and honestly had to sit in front of a fan when I got in. I took my teen shopping and had to have a cup of tea on my own for half an hour when we got back. My family are completely used to me saying ‘leave me have a minute’ 😆

Need to get this off my chest. I originally struggled to get HRT as I was seen by the practices Hormone specialist nurse.
At the time I was 44 years and 9 months and she was hung up on the fact that I still had regular periods and wasn’t really struggling with Hot flushes. My symptoms included absolute exhaustion, itching, aching everywhere, hair loss / thinning etc. she did blood tests to rule out other stuff but then basically said it was anxiety / mental health issues and signposted me to help for that. She didn’t listen that I was anxious / down due to everything else and it wasn’t the root cause. I struggled on for another 6 months and went back and demanded a GP appointment, this time I was listened to a little more and given HRT. Which massively helped but having been on my current dose for 15 months I’m feeling those symptoms creep back. I didn’t need a nap in 2024 yet I’m now needing one at lunchtime and the crushing tiredness is back. I’ve finally managed to get through to the surgery and they’ve offered me an appointment with the hormone specialist nurse. Obviously my anxiety just went through the roof and I want to cry as I don’t think she’ll help or listen to me.
Why is this so bloody hard

I’m not sure if this is the right thread to post although I think it’s peri related.

My confidence is through the floor at the moment and I’ve got severe paranoia. I’m happily married for almost 30 years but I have an overwhelming sense of dread that my husband doesn’t find me attractive anymore, I’m seeking constant validation about myself and I’m getting on my own nerves and finding it all a bit pathetic tbh.

He hasn’t given me any reason to think this, he’s his usual self. I don’t know if it’s peri, empty nest syndrome or my age, new chapter and all that.

Anyone got any tips to feel more confident about yourself, I think that I would feel better if I loved myself a bit more but not in a ‘I love myself’ sense!

Had a GP appt today to discuss having a coil. Ended up down a rabbit hole of pain of having it fitted so am now on a 3 month mini pill trial instead. The period pain today is immense so hopefully this works!

Can I ask a gross question please . Does anyone else have brownish looking blood during their period? Mine has been this way for some months now ( when my period appears - it’s been hit and miss for about 18 months).
Yes, mine's been that colour and is normal from what I've read. My periods have been 6/8 weeks for a while

Fed up with hot, cold, hot, cold. My cardie's on and off more times than Katie Price's knickers

I didn’t know that driving anxiety was a perimenopause thing?? That explains so much. I am the only driver in our house and I need to drive but I hate it. I always reverse park and today I just couldn’t do it. Got out of the car and my car was at such an angle it was embarrassing but I just had to get out and leave it.
i also can’t face driving any longer than an hour. We are going on holiday soon and going from a different airport that’s almost 2 hours away and im panicking already. Plus even more so the return journey as we land at 11.30pm and so as well as a 2 hour journey it will also be in the dark. Can’t afford a hotel by the airport plus need to be at work in the morning so need to just get on with it.

I seem to be going from one symptom to another. Just stopped with the itchy ear and now its itchy body. Migraines have eased off but now the the rage is coming back but I think the stress of Christmas doesnt help. I had to prep talk myself before doing the Aldi shop. It's a good job I did because some woman bumped her trolley in to me. Well I instantly swung round and was about to unleash all hell down the yoghurt isle but managed to cling on to my mouth before it opened. Was so relieved to get back home away from people 😅😅😅

Thanks all for the replies - based on them I am going to make an appointment and head back, to see someone else. I can’t do another few months of little sleep or feeling like I am losing my grip on reality.
