The sleeplessness is currently my only symptom other than irregularity (previously had major migraine spike which gp said was peri) - how do people cope with the lack of sleep? It’s killing me.
Have you tried magnesium? I really rate it for sleep. I missed a few last week and really noticed the difference.

I take magnesium every day before bed it defo helped at first though i’m now getting the random 3/4am wake ups again. It comes in waves then i’ll sleep fine again for a few days…. I don’t know what the answer is, apart from HRT.

For anyone on HRT how long was it before you felt better?

I started patches a month ago and still feel tit. I just want to walk away from everything in my life except my kids and start again. Mind you I'm not sure if that is perimenopause or just a realisation my marriage is tit.

Took about a month , maybe six weeks. It was more a realisation then a woke up and felt great thing.

As for marriage. I ended mine a few months before starting HRT. That helped tremendously 😘

I've just had my HRT changed. The doctor said I should notice a difference in two weeks but definitely by six weeks.

Thanks! Is the Betahistine long term, and do you take it every day?
GP didn't want to give me anything for it but I insisted and he gave me a trial of cyclizine, I took one and felt awful (so woozy and sleepy) so I haven't touched it since. Right now I will try anything though! Chronic dizziness is absolutely awful, makes you feel like you are going mad.
I too have had terrible dizziness - I used to get BPPV dizziness but this is different and doing the eply manouvere doesn't shift it. The doc thinks it could be vestibular migraines due to hormone changes so worth asking about that, and they wanted to put me on beta blockers but resisting it for the moment but it really is horrible. Dizzy, tired and mind fog for days (and nights) on end. I would suggest checking it isn't BPPV (when moving the head up or to one side) and ask the doc about vestibular migraines.

Has anyone had occasional light bleeding on Evorel Conti. It’s just started happening the past few weeks . switched over to it about a year ago and I must admit I preferred the sequi one. Just for me I feel kind of heavy not having a ’period’ of sorts … I know that sounds weird

Not sure it's perimenopause or just a cold January but I'm feeling incredibly depressed. I have chronic depression and take tablets for it but I'm so very low for past few days. I lost my dad in November so is this grief. I'm sleeping well but am aware I am thrashing around a lot, very vivid dreams, I'm sort of semi awake.

I take hrt and it takes the edge off. Sorry if this is the wrong thread

I feel the same my love. I'm sorry, it is rubbish. I don't think the time of year helps, it's so cold and gloomy.

You lost your dad only a few months ago so go easy on yourself, it’s grief.
It is so very hard and I’m sorry for your loss. January is a hard month for most anyway without your grief and depression and peri menopause added into the mix.
There is no timeline for healing so try to take each day as it comes.

I cried every day for 3 months and, if I’m totally honest, it was a year before I felt I could properly function again.
That said, grief is like a fingerprint - everyone’s is different.
My friend lost her dad last year and she was out socialising and posting happy photos to Facebook within a week. Did she love her dad less than I love mine? Of course not, she just dealt with it differently. There is no wrong or right way, there is only your way.
Post on here if it helps xx

If I could love this a hundred times I would. You’re spot on, we’re all different and deal with things in different ways x

~Thank you @50sGirl, I'm pretty messed up most of the time with something or other, but its particularly bad at the moment. I'm going away next week for a few days so hopefully that will help. Its awful loosing a parent isn't it. It knocked me sideways as I didn't realise it would affect me this way, Dad and I hadn't been talking properly for a while and so thats mixed up in it too, I was able to visit him before he died and I think he knew I was there. Everyone copes differently with everything, I need to stop comparing myself to everyone and just be me.

Ever since I started peri things have changed so much and my world kind of turned upside down. This forum is a real comfort and I'm grateful for your support. Lots of love x

Sorry for your loss, sending lots of love to all who have had someone close pass away.

I also lost my dad last year after a short and brutal illness.

Now a few months later I think I’m really feeling how perimenopause plays into it too. Fatigue, low mood (though hugely helped by estrogen which I started just after he was diagnosed). And just feeling in the midst of the interminable slog of life and to what end?!

Very much could be the ‘Blue Monday effect’ so sending extra positive energy to everyone slogging through it!

Can you do this over the phone? Maybe have a nurse consult over the phone. This really is rubbish. Did you have any other symptoms other than no bleeding?

Sending you so much love. I'm in the depths of having a parent who is nearing end of life. What I have is anticipatory grief, you know what's coming.
Do you have a well being service at your workplace if you work?

But echoing others, just go easy on yourself. It's still early days & you've had Christmas in-between too xx

hard to tell, what with *everything* else I've had going on

I've lost so much weight and my god, I've never felt as hot in my life these last couple of months

the bleed did stop this morning, though

I've gotta have a review (which I can do on the phone) before I get my next sicknote, so I'll bring it up then
